    This was the best explanation of steaming I have yet seen. It was concise, yet conveyed so much information. Seeing the use of the stainless steel cookware would be a bonus to people who are concerned about plastics or nonstick finishes in their cookware.

      That’s awesome Leanorah!! Good job! Remember not to over cook the veggies otherwise you are getting rid of those nutrients.
      Tip for meal prepping:
      Always transfer to an ice bath so you cut the cooking process.🙏
      Is there anything you need help with?

    thank you ! do you have any advice to heat a plate of leftovers, say differant foods on one plate ? thank you ( just want to reheat it thru)

    • @vegancookingmastery
      @vegancookingmastery  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi! It depends what are you going to warm up!
      But generally microwave is one of the best options for a plate full of food.
      Remember that what the microwave does is to heat the water that is in the food so somtimes if you warm it up too much it would get dry and chewy. Like tofu.
      The bread would be stale at the beginning would feel soft but then it would get stale so a trick for the bread is to cover it with a wet paper towel so it doesn’t not evaporate the moist inside the bread.
      For stews and soups it’s ok because there is so much liquid that they are fine.
      Something else you can do is to put all the food in a large sauté pan and add a little bit of water meaning a few tablespoons into the pan, heat the pan on low flame and cover so it creates steam and warm up the food. This in case you are not a fan of the microwave.
      I hope this helps! 😃

    Very useful video. Question: do you recommend a sauce to go with the greens?

    • @vegancookingmastery
      @vegancookingmastery  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you Desmond!
      There are many sauces that can go with greens, it depends on what kind of green you are cooking.
      I love balsamic vinegar in them, it goes with all of them. Buy a nice bottle of aged balsamic vinegar and make a vinaigrette with it.
      50ml balsamic vinegar
      50 ml extra virgin olive oil
      1/2 garlic grated or chopped finely
      Sea salt
      Pepper to taste
      Try this same ratio but instead of using balsamic vinegar use red wine vinegar and add half shallot brunoise. 😋
      And also try it with apple cider vinegar
      Note that if you feel it’s a little too acid add 1/2 tbsp of maple syrup or honey.
      There you have it! 3 different vinaigrettes that goes with i’d say almost every green. 😃
      Try them and let me know your favorite Desmond!
      Thanks for watching!! 🙏

    Very good.... i was looking for the basics of steaming. Thanks. I have left eating any grain diet for dinner and i am eating steamed vegs. Before I steamed in pressure cooker but no gt very good. Using a steamer would be better.

      Thank you for watching! Steaming in pressure cooking? Never heard of it, I’m curious how do you do it? Covered? Or only using the pot and a container inside to create an steamer?

    • @vegancookingmastery
      @vegancookingmastery  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes! you can use the water left for other preparations, such as gravy, soups, blend purées etc…
      Remember to use filtered water as much as possible.

    Can you steam vegetables using pickle juice?

    • @vegancookingmastery
      @vegancookingmastery  หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@AB-ye7bw you definitely can, pickle juice is water and salt basically. I haven’t done it so I wouldn’t be able to tell you about the flavor it would give the vegetables but I don’t think it will be bad.

    Before vegs gets too mussy after steaming, why throw the nutritious water and put in cold water? Water can be used for cooking, making dough or drink.

    • @vegancookingmastery
      @vegancookingmastery  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Mary! 😃 thanks for the comment, You can definitely use the water you use for steaming, that’s very clever.
      The cold water is to stop the vegetables from cooking otherwise you will have over cooked vegetables and the flavor and the texture will change.
