It was very close that I bought the "old" CrossClimate for this season as I don't like my factory OEM's too much but they are still new so I hesitated... and I was being cheap as well. For once it paid off and now I know what's going under my car next summer.

How is crossClimate 2 compared with Premier A/S, especially in comfort and noise part?

Cool. Just ordered a set for a 2006 Toyota Matrix 4WD. They will replace Michelin Premiere A/S tires which are excellent.

I've been running the original Crossclimates ever since they came out.
The secret sauce is that the compound is actually a summer tire compound, BUT the thread pattern is a all season/ winter tire combo and somehow Michelin made it work.
I've got 43000km on mine and the thread is still like brand new with mostly city driving and slight dirt/gravel road driving. I'm interested to see how the new ones compare to the OG's

@@michaelshane1979 Exactly, it has better grip on wet but less on dry, last longer and quieter tires. The specs of the speed shows how the stiffness and speedrating of the tires change too. W tires are stiffer, noiser, gripper, but wear faster. about 20% less. But if you want summer tires feel, the older + is better on this respect. Newer on with H and V rating, is definitely comfier, more cushion .

    • @rondhole

2 is quieter, last longer 60k warranty, better in wet. + is better in dry and better grip in cornering, more summer like than Crossclimate2 and cheaper but only 50k warranty tread. Just like when Crossclimate + came out, the crossclimate is sold for cheaper price until it is all gone.

For the record, I've had 5 sets of TripleTreads across 3 cars, with the last set of all of them having clocked 84k+ miles on the road, and still going. They were an amazing tire in all 4 seasons across NJ and PA, but now that they're gone these Michelins have me looking hard at them as my next tire investment.

Cross Climate 2 or Nokian WR G4 ??

    • @johnlacson94
      @johnlacson94 3 ปีที่แล้ว

From what I’ve read, the Nokians brake better in ice, Michelins handle better in wet. I have had the WRG3 & 4s and they’re great. I would pick the Michelins if you have more wet weather than ice/slush. Nokians if you drive regularly in sub freezing and icy road conditions. Either should work well, it’s just a slight performance edge in one season vs another.

Mine roared like hell, swapped out for Continental Pure contact LS for summer and Continental Viking 7 Contact for winter, as there is no tire that will excel in winter and summer, physics wont allow it
I'm not a Continental fanboy either
I'm 56 and always used Michelin for summer and Nokian for winter
I don't know why more people don't run dedicated winter tires, as it cost the same, as collectedly they will last as long as buying 2 sets of all season tires, only extra cost is those beautiful black steel rims for winter, lol
There covered in muck and slop most of the winter anyway, so who cares what they look like
The great thing is if you wreck one , it's only 60 bucks to replace and they all look pretty much the same, and you don't have to try matching a alloy wheel, good luck with that, been thee done that
You can also minus size, saving money and better ride over bumps, also if you slam the wheels into a curb or huge pot hole hidden under the snow, the steel rim and tall sidewall minus size tire takes most of the damage, not the suspension
Also you get a free full size spare, the winter tire in the trunk for summer, and the summer tire in the trunk for winter
I am comparing the full size spare tire idea to a donut
And you can go safely at highway speeds for thousands of miles, instead of crawling at 10 mph under the speed limit bracing for someone the ram you up the poop shoot, lol,
Or until the donut blows up and flies into a million pieces at about 50 miles down the road , as they get to hot
Only took me 56 years to figure this out
    Great video

Pirelly Cinturato All Season SF 2 can compete with theis. I am just curious which one is better. I bought Pirelly for a Golf. Looking forward to get it delivered. Usually Michelin has problems with ice, like tyre has no grip on ice whatsoever. Not as bad as Brigestone EVO, but... Really hope they fixed it on a new model. Prior the new models, GoodYear Vector 4 Season Gen 3 could beat them all (if you don't mind that it's a bit more noisy), but now, it's getting more interesting to see what the new ones are capable of.
