Classic TV series becoming films or film franchises and actually being successful is a rarity. One is Mission Impossible. The other would be The Equalizer. One individual to even up the odds for the innocent. Bringing the pain to the bad guys that deserve it. I loved the classic tv series (1985-1989) with the late Edward Woodward since childhood. To have this great actor/filmmaker collaboration make something like this is very rare. Denzel as McCall/co-producer and Antoine Fuqua directing didn't try to copy the show, beat for beat (except for the last shot). Melissa Leo's character is based on a woman named Anne Tatlock. 0n 9/11 one of the planes hit dead center on her office on the 89th floor of the 2nd Tower, but she was on a plane to Omaha to meet Warren Buffet
Part 2 gives you a little more inside of Robert. Even though Robert was an expert in killing, he wasn't a killer at heart. His past required him to do things that never rested comfortable with his conscious. Part 2 was the first sequel Denzel ever agrees to do and that was because the chemistry between him and Antoine Fuqua. Antoine said in an interview the dinner scene with Teddy and the pray for rain line, he looked down at the script because he knew that wasn't written in. He's comfortable with Denzel adding on the fly just as he did in Training Day with his classic King Kong line. Denzel is comfortable that he has that free range and Antoine will deliver a great movie
Something I really like about this movie is that it's told from the villain's perspective in large part. Normally, the hero would be the one doing the investigating, trying to uncover the identity of the bad guys. This is the reverse. Very creative and fresh.
The TV show was brilliant but Robert was old and solved the problems with his brain more often than violence and every victim owed him a favour that he may or may not collect on, that meant old subjects would recur depending on the skills or opportunities that were required... A pay it forward mentality......i loved it. Honestly it shaped me as a man to some degree, like reading superman does for some...... Just a good moral compass.
So on a positive note, I like to say this. Denzel Washington comes from the city of Mount Vernon, New York. It is the same city that I grew up in. He makes us very proud to represent the city of Mount Vernon, New York. He never takes for granted where he's from. He always represents the city. We have a lot of talent from the city of mount vernon in different genres, whether it's actors, musicians, professional athletes, but denzel stands above them all. He makes a so proud.
46:20: I’ve always appreciated the way the movie sharply turns in to a slasher film with Robert… basically illustrating the level of “monster” he is, and how the bad guys are hilariously out of their depth, with Robert.
After the first time I watched this, I was never able to look at a Home Depot the same way again (but in more of an awesome way if that makes any sense lol). 😂

He brought a gun to a knife fight, but what he really should have brought is an umbrella.
Denzel is fantastic in this. Also a special shout out as well to Marton Csokas, who is superbly sinister as Teddy.
Denzel Washington is always outstanding and a legend in his field, and his stair was killer like he didn't care at all. I love it
damn perfect timing for my breakfast yt video lol
McCall was reading Hemingway's "The Old Man and the Sea".
Also, this was post-Newsroom. This was 2014, Newsroom was 2-years earlier.
Feeling lost and searching for my purpose lately.
Same here, I feel like I'm not making any progress.

Heck yeah! this movie and the sequel are both awesome. I'm stoked for the third one to come out.
Denzel has to be one of the coolest and smoothest actors ever.
Recent uploads are soo fire. Every movie that was reacted I wanted a reaction to was soo bliss
This was a great watch! I love that Coy is letting Greg be the "Gurl Candy" with the less flexing of the arms!
Ohh I can’t wait for y’all to watch this 😮😮😮
I enjoyed watching this with you guys so much.
cant wait for you guys to react to the sequel, its also awesome
Literally watched this yesterday for the first time!
The scene at their job is so damn good. The music is perfect. It was up there with John Wick's Club scene and house scene at the time.
Better than John Wick and the sequel is even better. I would go so far to say Denzel's performance in the sequel is Oscar-worthy. Great reaction lads.
46:20: I’ve always appreciated the way the movie sharply turns in to a slasher film with Robert… basically illustrating the level of “monster” he is, and how the bad guys are hilariously out of their depth, with Robert.
David Harbour was in The Green Hornet too
After the first time I watched this, I was never able to look at a Home Depot the same way again (but in more of an awesome way if that makes any sense lol). 😂
