    For those wondering, No, John didn't steal someone's pet or pick that pit because he wanted a big dog. He picked it because it was 'Marked for Termination'. In essence, John saved that poor dog, which in turn, saved him by giving him companionship.

    John put the knife exactly where he wanted... in a wound that was already there. The stitches were already ripped, so the blade didn't really do any additional damage. It merely gave him the leverage to break the arm, and of course get the knife.

    The coins work differently than you might think. They're made of gold, but they don't represent monetary value. In the third movie, it's explained that the coins represent the "commerce of relationships" within this underworld society, sort of like the trading of favors among the Mafia.

      Not exactly, they look like Krugerrands - Minted in South Africa and illegal in most countries due to apartheid. They are an ounce of fine gold and the price fluctuates with the market. $6000 or so per coin. Popular with investors irl they are used by the hitmen, cleaners, and the Continental due to ease of use/convenience - dinner reservations are bodies to dispose of - a coin per body.

    • @milesmcstylez
      @milesmcstylez ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The value is subjective - the more something is worth to you personally, the more coins you give in exchange. A small favour gets a coin, a big favour gets a stack of coins. A really big favour gets covered in the sequel.

      Not sure where your info is coming from (genuinely curious), but I work at a precious metal dealer in the US and (most) Krugerrands are right around the price of gold (just shy of $1900 atm). The coins in the movie are far too large to be an ounce of gold, as gold weighs far more than silver, nickel, copper, etc.@@ginawhisnant9966

    the biggest thing with this series is that all of the gun play is exceptionally accurate, you can notice that john is constantly reloading and swapping guns he doesnt shoot 20 rounds from a 12 round mag. There's a few videos online of Keanu reeves doing the gun training with actual firearms just for this movie. its very very well done. He is on par with a lot of professional competition shooters.
    the entire john wick series has a very very short timeline. from the first to the 2nd movie is only about 4 days and the 3rd movie picks up immediately after the 2nd.
    His tattoo on his back stands for "Fortune Favors the bold"
    "Uninvited guest" was literal.
    "dinner reservation" is code for clean up a body.
    he forced viggo to stab him in the wound that he already had to minimize the damage and get him close to break his arm.
    Also the concierge in the series his name is Lance Reddick and he just passed away back in march a great actor and voice actor who will be missed. R.I.P
    Looking forward to seeing more reactions to this series. its one of my favorites.

      I saw an interview with one of the gun coordinators in John Wick about how Keanu Reeves’s weapon training was so good that at several points during filming the gun jammed and he fixed it and kept on shooting the scene, so some of the points where he reloads or checks his weapon actually weren’t planned. I think it adds a fantastic deeper layer though, because we get to see how John Wick would realistically handle that situation.
      Bonus: I think that in the second or third movie, he used a pistol that apparently is well known for malfunctioning. The entire time he uses it, he is constantly checking for jamming between shots.

  • @armyadam007
    @armyadam007 ปีที่แล้ว +106

    It's probably been said before, but the firing of the different weapons used in the film are accurate - if he runs out of bullets, he reloads, even sometimes in fight. There's another YT video showing the training Keanu went through to play John Wick. He's apparently a fantastic tactical shooter in real life also.

    When this movie came out, everyone loved this movie and also made the two directors make one of the best action movie productions ever. Their production made some great movies ever like all the John Wick movies, Nobody, Bullet Train, and Violent Night. The two directors used to be stunt coordinators Chad Stahelski and David Leitch and his wife Kelly McCormack. The production always hired stunt performers and action directors just like Sam Hargrave, who did the Extraction movie in Netflix with Chris Hemsworth. One other movie is almost John Wick, which is Sisu. Sisu is like John Wick meets Inglorious Bastards. Its popularity are the gun fu and the hand to hand combat because it's direct by a former stunt coordinator.

    John's upper back tattoo says “fortis fortuna adiuvat,” which means fortune favors the brave. Gold coin in US dollar value is around $2000 each. The joint Viggo is smoking is laced with PCP. They think it mellows you out while helping you not feel pain and feel indestructible. First 3 movies happen in a week in a half, in movie 4, is 6 months later.

    Duuude this is THE best action/killer/revenge movie of all time IMO. The world they build up from the start with very little information is amazing. It's never cheesy, you really believe John Wick is a badass even before he starts doing his thing. The soundtrack is pure excellence too. It's a whole vibe. I love it so much 😅

    Fun Fact:
    When John goes to the Club to kill the kid and starts with the bodyguard outside, He says, "You've lost weight" and Francis Replied "Over 60 pounds". This was actually a test AND a code between the two. John was testing him to see if he would help him (which is why he lets him go and tells him to take the night off) and Francis replies Over 60 pounds (or 27 kilograms), a code for nearly 27 security guys/henchman protecting the boy. This is also being used in the military forces around to world too. VERY cool way to again show us how much of a badass and how respected John Wick is. Also thee one thing I like about Keanu Reaves is the amount of effort he puts into a role. You can find videos of his training sessions for these movies where he spends countless time at a gun range training with all sorts of guns to the point where he knows how each gun he handles will behave IRL and will actually handle them accordingly for things like checking to ensure the weapons are not jammed. You will see him handle a pistol in the second John Wick movie where he will kinda toss the gun in his hand a little to press down on the chamber because the pistol he is using at that time is known for having bullets getting jammed and is checking the chamber to make sure it is clear enough to fire. Keanu also went through 4 months of training, 5 days a week, 8 hours a day to bring his character to life. He also went through Judo, Japanese Ju-Jutsu, and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. So Keanu is that accurate and deadly in real life. You can find a few videos of his trainings with a company known as Taran Tactical. Keanu also had help from former Navy SEAL and CIA Contractor Shawn Ryan.

    Technically, no, they didn't kill the dog. If you examine the scene carefully, it becomes clear that it is meant to be implied that they fatally wounded the dog. However, as seen by the trail of blood, the dog was presumably still worried enough about John that it dragged its way over to him and THEN died. Which is made all the more tragic since it seems to be symbolism about his relationship with his wife.

    • @zachorryy

    All the comments are great reviews, but I also wanted to point out one thing. Do you notice how John always does head shots? The reason behind it is actually very realistic, and further explained in the second movie, since most of the clothing is tactical and made to resist puncture. He doesn't want anyone to heal up and come back after him.

    don't worry that you didn't get the knife thing, it went over a lot of folks heads
    But basically if you recall the doctor told John that the wound he had before was non-fatal, so John purposely directed the knife back into that wound knowing it would hurt like a bitch but not kill him. While the knife was inside of him he could break Viggo's arm and then take the knife for himself.
