I’m 75, soon to be 76, and was on a retreat with a religious order that I felt called to in June. I’m a widow and have been praying to know if God was calling me to the religious life. At the end of the retreat I was invited to enter, and fully intended to enter after the first of the year. But…after visiting a grandson who is going through a divorce and my 3 great-grandsons this month, I feel called to move from CA to his state to help with these precious little boys. I’m praying this is God’s will for my life.

I made enquiries into the priesthood myself. I held back in revealing how strongly I truly felt towards this vocation. Priests themselves commented to me that I have a vocation. That was ten years ago. With the changes that have happened over the years, I see it as the biggest mistake I never made. Maybe there is still a vocation to discern. I just don't know. Right now, after the incredible ordeals I've been put through, I'm surprised that I still have faith. All I can do is pray, talk to God.

I have made some mistakes in discernment recently and it all came down to a need for transparency. Mother Natalia's comments regarding using your choice of vocation as a point of escapism is quite important. Many people choose an act of religious devotion as means to evade that which troubles them, instead of using such devotion as a means to get close to God. We should never use a prayer or vocational choice as a drug that provides catharsis from that which ails us, or a means to numb us to the harshness of reality.

@@MB_Biggie_Cheese I am in a special situation because I am only catholic since December last year. I made a very conscious decision to convert from German Lutheranism to Catholicism after 1 year of reading and 2 years going to mass. So I am very militant about Church affairs and generally interested in history and THEOLOGY. However I have to finish my law studies first where I kind of got.stuck for 1 year after studying since 6 years (not unusual, average is 5-6 years though). I am a bit depressed about life as a lawyer and the life that comes with that which will not change my attractiveness.
I am fit but not jacked, 178 cm and 63 kg so pretty slim, maybe a bit too slim.
But arguably I invested too much energy into religious matters/knowledge. I will finish my studies because I have to but mentally I can hardly imagine doing a job I feel I only would do in order to attract women anyways. (I am an only child and my father is a very successful lawyer, yet I do not see myself as doing what he does). Now I kind of feel like I need a woman to provide me with emotional support until I finish my studies and then I can further make a decision.😅

I'm not sure if this will help but maybe you are in your vocation or state of life that God wants.
I think sometimes our expectations of what our life should unconsciously gets in the way to see clearly God's plan, to accept it or to follow it.
Maybe stop praying for it for a while, maybe He is calling you to trust in Him more, to blindly surrender to Him, to believe in Him that whatever you do it is His will, His plan.
We don't need to be doing something specific or 'big' or Important to say that we are fulfilling God's plan for our lives.
I hope this helped in a way.

Im currently discerning religious life and will be entering in the autumn time. Let me tell you what I have learned so far. “What if God does not reveal it to you?” If you haven’t actively discerned then this could be why. It was only after I visited convents that I knew what God wanted from me. It was a slow progress really, my vocation built up over time. But you need to obviously pray a lot but also get out there and actively discern. I promise this will make things all the clearer, don’t date and discern priesthood or religious life at the same time. Put aside a year to actively discern, visit a few places. If you still don’t know then just enter somewhere and if it doesn’t work out then thats it. Ask God to make it abundantly clear what He wants you to do. O Lord do with me what Thou wilt!
I will pray for you! God bless you

I think of it differently. I used to watch all these videos on discernment, talking things through, “is it rational” all of that.
What I have come to realize is that God will give you the next step. We dance around the reality that God already told us what’s next. And when we don’t act on it, it still stays in our mind. It’s not going anywhere.
There’s so much suffering there. Instead of using our minds for “how can I may it happen” we try to rationalize our negatives over God when we know it’s a good thing and it might be a little scary or entail suffering.
Take the step, and the next step will be revealed.
You got nothing to lose cause it’s just going to stay in your brain anyway.

Bro I am 26 and still not married to a good woman and want to meet the right woman already. All my relationship attempts have failed and I am getting really worried that I never will meet the right one. I dont want to be a priest or monk or a permanent bachelor. Im lonely and worried. My works have failed and my prayers to meet the right person havent been answered. I feel stuck permanently.

Sorry it is more than talking personally with our Heavenly Father right? Because we can misinterpret things and thoughts.

It's not difficult at all discovering what God wants from you.
    Here's the rule. Ask him.
He will not withold andwering an earnest pray. 1
God will always tell you what is best for you.
He wants you to be happy. Don't think because his answer is too good to be true...it's not.
    That happiness is God given.
Don't over think. Again just ask.
    God will always answer.
    Always. Always . Always.
There are millions who never ask Him. So he definitely won't ignore those who do.
Ask and an answer will always be given.
    Always.😊😊😊😊😊

Did you take up a name when you were ordained? You did take up something, right?? Read about their own lives and struggles. :)

That is useful to me, and not to you. I'm a hermit, you live in a community... The other thing is useful to both of us...!!

It seems in this community, the main apostlate is the Nun/Bride::Jesus/Bridegroom relationship. No teaching. No nursing. Sticking with "basic nunnning". Back to Early Church basics!

Each order is different and the church has raised up different orders throughout the centuries for the churches and worlds needs. Some are called to live a more contemplative life while others aren’t. Carmelites and Benedictines etc would be the same, very contemplative. Deo Gratias for the diversity God gave us! Gods will for each person is all that matters!

Mmm - yet another TH-camr who claims to know "how God works." “For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways.” (Isaiah, 55:8)

Such a blessing that through his Word and sacred Tradition, God has revealed his ways to us and calls us to learn of Him, become one with Him, and to know Him. I'm grateful to God that I can know how He works by following the commandments and teachings He has given His children
