I haven't been in the loop with MuseScore and never used MuseScore for notation software before (predominantly Sibelius). I didn't realise there was MuseSounds, VSTs for MuseScore 4 you needed to download for the actual goodness of playback. Thanks to some viewers' comments, I came to realise this and now here we are!

I just play the piano and never do work scores or compose, but after I watched some Tantacrul TH-cam has decided I must be obsessed with Musescore. It's starting to grow on me tbh.
Composer be like "breathing? You can do that when you sleep!"

most choirs stagger breaths anyways
Choirs can do staggered breathing to address long notes. Of course, it requires a "team" effort (a good and conscious conductor, choristers coordination, some extra work and attention).
As a long time chorister and more recently a composer, I sing every line of choir music I write, and add breathing marks to my scores to help both conductor and choir.
I have to admit, there’s something beautiful and emotional about the human voice that can’t possibly be replicated anywhere else. It’s uniqueness is why I enjoy going to choir performances so much.
i absolutely agree! nothing will beat the real human voice. i really only started enjoying the human through Mahler's 2nd Symphony the final movement, especially the final few minutes, imo the best thing i've ever heard in my entire life, i just wish i could hear that irl but nobody plays much Mahler here :(

MuseScore definitely needs to work on their dynamics for a lot of the instruments, but goddam I ascended after that high part break in the middle, great piece

This sounds like it would play in a fantasy game while the village elder says something like "Lo, on that fateful night, the skies dark as obsidian, nought but our torches lit the night. You have an interesting voicing for the Oktavist and Bass and thought I should put my 2 cents in. My qualifications are that I sing Bass professionally with Oktavists. One thing is, when you give a low part like this, you should try to always have an Octave or a 5th over the low note for it to be in tune. Without an Octave or 5th, the low note will sound and feel naked. The only time this idea is very important is an E-below-bass-staff and under. So basically your low C.

I've sung in many professional choirs, and I wish to god to someday sing with a choir that has basses that can hit low a C like that *gush
I will say that as a choral singer, I'd want this to go about 25 percent faster on....average...which leaves room for even bigger rolantandos. We HATE it when we have to do staggered breathing because it means we necessarily are less powerful and have to spend a large amount of brain cycles on breathing and listening to nearby people's breaths instead of singing well ("BuT wHy DoN't YoU jUsT mArK iT iN yOuR mUsSiC" is something one might say in retort to that. And I will tell you that we do. We still HATE it.)
It's a small thing, but the mark of better choral music when it's set in a way that's more conducive to the human voice. I love the song, but if you could arrange it to have more natural breath marks for each section it would be grand. Also, this is not like, a criticism of the music in the slightest.
Beethoven's 9th is a great piece and changed music forever. But Beethoven was a moron when it came to writing for the human voice. We don't have valve's my dude.....
If only I could write like this. Even if the sounds are computer generated, still amazing.
it comes with times and times of just writing music. i encourage you to try keep writing music yourself! i am still far from perfect but i still try my best :)

@@codyzuvich1712 my interest for writing music started in 2017 in high school, i tried to write stuff and they would be very simple and not exactly very good. my interest kept me writing stuff even though it wasn't the best stuff (i tried to write some large scale works but they were really incoherent). i am studying composition as part of my degree in uni rn but that's about to end as well. in total about 5 years :)
@@daweiimiku That’s sick, I started getting interested in 2021, ended up writing one thing and then couldn’t write anything else
@@codyzuvich1712 it is quite hard to keep going, especially when you don't have inspiration. my lecturers taught me that even if you don't think you can write anything, even if you think what you write will be bad, just write it. who knows, could be the new banger!

merci! my counterpoint is not as good as it used to be, but the basics of counterpoint is not as hard as you think! if there are music theory books that have four part harmony exercises, they teach well and are good to practice with :)

Can someone explain what the difference between bass and oktavist is? Is the oktavist just a very deep bass or is it something else?
an oktavist indeed is choral singer who can sing lower than bass. oktavist specifically is of russian origin. another term would be basso profondo, which is italian and is similar.
