Even though I consider myself a purist, I was pleasantly surprised by this reinterpretation of Yes' classics. Rick Wakeman is still the man. And the vocalist is a show apart, her voice goes very well with these wonderful songs.
ALWAYS have to check in and see Rick! He made it and has lived a long life! God has been gracious to him. We almost lost him at such a young age! South Side of the Sky, one of the best Yessongs of all time! Thanks Mr. Cowen. :D
Nice to know there are people enjoying this! seemed to have unleashed a bag of worms with some of the negative stuff!! My channel is mainly for my remembrances as I get old and probably go senile :) Cheers for the positive comment!
„Wondrous Stories“ came out 21 years after I was born. Wonderful! This extract is simple wonderful! Incredibly wonderful. These singers here sing wonderfully. Rick is a wonderful musician who I have records and CDs of….
Wondrous stories was the 1st song I heard , fell in love with, really,,I'm not a big fan of YES but appreciate them, but Rick was a big friend of Jon Lord and Tony Ashton....love!!!
I am so pleased that Rick is still going strong. My son, Eric who is an undiscovered world class drummer masquerading as a house painter and manager of his several properties. But still "covering". He is my music colleague and we have listened to Rick together er since my son was born. Among much other music. At my 92 years of age that a lot of music for a long time. He has a fun video that some who read this might enjoy. Besides his drumming, his son is also playing guitar. Look for "Crop Circle Boogie".
Thanks for this man, I was there and to hear those singers giving their rendition of 'The Meeting' is so special. I thought Id never get to hear that again, so beautiful. What a sensational night that was!
Love it. It's funny how most artists love when other musicians cover their music but many fans hate it. I think it's great. I actually seek it out on this channel. And give me Mollie Marriott (Steve Marriott's daughter) over Jon Davison any day.
I was 20 when I saw them live on the Going for the one Tour. The music, production, acoustics and theatricals were outstanding. The best concert I ever saw. As good as this 2024 show was, it looks like a tribute band compared with the full fat complete Yes line up of 77. ❤❤ I am glad I saw them in 77 at their peak firing on all cylinders. Wonderful.
My first Yes concert as well, also at the age of 20. Didn’t know what to expect from their live show. Saw them again on the Union tour and the Talk tour. As good as they became, opening with Parallels on that circular stage will stay with me forever as a musical highlight of my life.
Not my thing, I am more into the originals, but a lot of people like it, so that's good. Great to see Rick 'alive and kicking'. Still wearing the wizard rope :)
That version of the meeting was appalling. That version would fit nicely into one of Rick's tawdry rock operas. Simply a boring and very straight arrangement. My opinion.
I thought it was pretty good. It was good judgement to have a female sing Jon's parts, but unfortunately she seems more a ballad singer. Some grit would have helped. And the drummer is too "rock and roll" to play prog, in my opinion.
Great shame that he is not putting out some professional videos with good sound. Other oldies like Steve Hackett and King Crimson do this and so much better than an iPhone in the audience. What I have seen of this tour is really disappointing in comparison to the many times I have seen Yes live.
My son hates that he wears tracksuits and a cape!! when you've lived and created music as long as he has he deserves the right wear what he LIKES!!! :)
Very brave of Mollie Marriott to do the lead vocals. It would be great to hear her duet with Jon Anderson to get a different mix. Love how enthusiastic she is and seems to enjoy performing. The bassist seemed to try and join in with Rick visually, but since Rick performs almost always with his eyes shut, that didn't work....
A cantora deste Show não me agrada, desculpem-me. A maioria do rock de hoje tem cantoras extraordinárias como Nigthwish.
Well I thought she was better than Hayley Sanderson who sang the last time I saw Rick but Haley does have a great voice it seemed more for musicals than RnR. I suppose it is hard for some people to appreciate a song sung by different singers if they are stuck on the original. I think even Brain Johnson (local lad!) got stick for singing old Bon Scott stuff....
This version of wonderous stories is nothing compared to the original. The drummer just pounds on the drums and the vocalist, well, simply annoying. She just can’t sing this song. Those who intend to criticize my opinion should listen to the original version and then draw their conclusions.
I gather you don't go out to gigs much?! The idea of live music is to give new and interesting takes on staid studio songs. She's prefectly in key and tune with the music so yes she CAN sing the song!
He probably wrote them, so it kinda gives him free reign to do what he wants with them! If you don't like them, guess you don't have to listen to them....😉
To be fair, Rick's key playing is fine, it's the rest of it that suffers the most (though a phone video recording is probably not the best thing to judge the performance by). Still I'm glad I didn't go to watch the tour.
@@theworldaccordingto4555 we were sat at the back, in the gallery and it sounded like everything was out of balance. Singing and drums too loud, no bass, no idea which bits Adam or Rick was playing. I did notice a sound tech with an iPad loitering near our seats.... so I wonder if something wasn't right.
A musician of average talent, he disguises this lack by wearing extravagant clothes and piling up equipment he doesn't even use, repeating predictable steps and making faces and mouths as if he were giving his ass. But there are a legion who applaud, thinking they seem more intelligent for it. I doubt anyone really enjoys this monotony.

Dead on with “South Side Of The Sky”. Flawless.
ROCK ON!
South Side Variations fabulous, thank you for sharing this! 🍾❤️
Rick wakeman he's always been a favorite keyboard player for a long time and God bless you still here 🙏🙏🙏 keep up the humor Rick..

Rick Wakeman thanks for the Music ❤❤❤
Just saw his one man show in jersey, the guy is a frikin genius. And incredibly funny. The yes composite was brilliant.
Aye, saw the Grumpy Xmas show he did....absolutely amazing
Rick Wakeman THE FINGERS. THE MASTER. FOREVER YES❗️❗️❗️🎹🎹🎹🎹🎹🎹🎹🎹🎹

I saw them in York, it was a great night. Mollie Marriott really impressed me.

I thought the same about "The Meeting" in York.
Yes I remember "The Meeting" from their 1989 tour - so lovely
Congratulations! Very beatiful! Perfect!
The Meeting was utterly brilliant. Saw the show in Birmingham. When Adam was soloing, especially in Starship Trooper, Rick looked very proud.
Love it. It's funny how most artists love when other musicians cover their music but many fans hate it. I think it's great. I actually seek it out on this channel. And give me Mollie Marriott (Steve Marriott's daughter) over Jon Davison any day.
Was at the Glasgow show (front row!). This new version of The Meeting was stunning! Thanks for posting.
Same here, looks like a minimoog has broken down since then hence the voyager on his left here!
Hadn't noticed that!@@numanisme
Beautiful

My first live concert ever was the Going for the One show at the LA Forum for my 13th birthday!
Yay , Lee!! Bassist extraordinaire !!!
Thanks for posting.
I love his sense of humour.

Assistir as apresentações de Rick com novos arranjos é sempre uma surpresa indescritível!
brilliant... still never stop spinnin' ricks "six wives of henry V111" either! hampton court!
Very nice
Fantástico, simplemente genial. Genio que se reproduce así mismo.
Wonderful!!!!!!
Musical prodigy with a great sense of humor
merci pour la video super vive le rock
wish i could see this in person
Uma lenda viva da música eterna
beautiful
wonderous stories live from Palladium box set should be released as a single.
100% CULTURA
Rick were you at the Gary Numan show last night in Manhattan wearing a mask? I was staring at you thinking I'm sure that's Rick Wakeman!
Hope everybody enjoyed the Oscars awards on 3/10 Oppenheimer vs. Ken and Barbie stories
The voice of the women are way better than Jon Davison trying to sing like Jon Anderson but there is no way he can do it
The lead singer is amazing! No Jon Anderson but that's good
Sorry, no one is better than Jon.
Good in what way, she has a piss weak voice.
I did not make myself understood. What I meant is that she is not trying to emulate Anderson, but using her own voice, or so I think@@adriannorris1486
Preferring Jon is an opinion, she's doing HER thing not copying Jon , pointless comparing, enjoy or don't....up to you
Her dad Steve was a legend too 🤘
guitar's man plays with ELO-Jeff Lynne
Is that the bass player from ELO?
Lee Pomeroy, Jeff Lynn's ELO and many more bands/artists....
Who’s playing in his band? Anybody know?
Rick introduces the band at the end of the video......does anyone watch to the end?? :)
Southside is missing guitar.
Eh the vocals don’t cut it. I’ve seen Yes probably more than any other band since 1975 all the way up to and including now.
while good, these vocalists do not cut it compared to Jon Anderson. But I love listening to these modern versions anyway.
Is that a 2nd keyboard player in Rick Wakeman’s band? Is it his son?
Adam Wakeman
He may be Brian May's favourite guitarist, but he's no Steve Howe!
Er ist um Lichtjahre besser als Steve Howe🎉
Karaoke!

how far north do you think we are?? not beyond the wall man !! :)

Miluju Rickovu hru, ale je, co se oblečení týče, pořád stejný kýčař.

Nice to hear female voices on old Yes music. I actually prefer this version of “ wondrous stories”.
Annie Haslam of Renessance sang yes song turn of the century.

Wait, no Orchestra? But to be fair, I like Jon's Geek band better.
Hollow. I love Rick, and Yes. But this is not good
Did you hear all those squished B flats? 😀...something out of tune from about 14:00

Sorty, awful.
Dreadful
Sounds a bit rough, she cannot sing, drummer poor, everyone poor.
I cant stand to see him murder Yes songs - awful.
We were at the Bridgewater and the first half sounded dreadful. 2nd half was much better (quieter).
completely painful.....
He probably wrote them, so it kinda gives him free reign to do what he wants with them! If you don't like them, guess you don't have to listen to them....😉

And your discography is? and nominations for music are?
Well that was awful. Kind of like a watered down Las Vegas show. Well intentioned I’m sure but not what any Yes fan wants to hear.
Never been much of a Yes fan, probably why I like it?! 😄
But it was a Rick Wakeman Concert
