I was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes several months back with an a1c of 9.3. I immediately changed my diet and saw some improvement but I was eating what they recommended diabetics eat and my blood sugar dropped about 12 to 15 points but it was still way over the guidelines. I did some research and started a low carb diet and took some supplements. Saw an immediate reaction from this and dropped my blood sugar 100 points. I found your channel while searching on TH-cam and I have to say thank you for all the work you do in making your videos. I learned so much from your videos that the doctors and nutritionist didn't tell me. I now eat to my meter and learned what foods spike me and what foods don't. I dropped my a1c to 5.3 in a few months and lost 75lbs. My doctor prescribed me insulin and metformin as well as high blood pressure medication. As of now, I'm am no longer on any medication and my doctor was shocked at the results. I am not a religious man but I want to say keep preaching brother because you are saving lives. You are making a difference.

@@beatdiabetes3 Thanks and you did help! I would have never known what food spiked me and how to check my blood levels after eating since my doctor told me to check it only at night. I also would be eating way more fruit if it wasn't for you. I was told slow release carbs wouldn't spike me but they do. I love bananas but they are just as bad for me as a candy bar. wouldn't have known that if it wasn't for you. I have insulin and metformin left over and it's a shame I will have to dispose of them. Again keep preaching brother, you are saving lives..

Well, I went to my doctor today after not seeing him for 6 months. At that time I was told my A1c was 9.9 and that I was a diabetic. He said he wasn't putting me on meds and wanted me to come back in a month after I got some more blood work done. I left there dazed and a little scared since my mom died of diabetes and it was awful watching her deteriorate. I came home and went right to my computer to do some research. After reading a lot of contradictory information I came across your videos on TH-cam. I listened attentively to the things you said and did, and I was hooked on your truth regarding diabetes. I watched many of your videos and those of Dr. Fung from Toronto. I decided to go on a low-carb, higher-fat lifestyle diet. I also did a fair bit of intermittent fasting. Unfortunately, I never went back to the doctor until today, yes, 6 months later, but I was scared and wrong not to do so. Fortunately, things worked out great for me. The doctor walked in and said, "Wow Chuck, where's the rest of you"?. I had lost 41 pounds. He then wanted to take a look at my recent blood work. As I watched he kept saying, wow, wow, this is fantastic and what an improvement. My A1c was 7.2 and obviously continuing to fall. My daily glucose reading was 5.2. Not only that, all the bad markers I previously had, such as high cholesterol, triglycerides, poor kidney function, etc., were all down to normal now. I am not overly religious, but I believe God directed me to your site. You may have helped save me from a life of misery in these later years. Thanks so much!!!

I KNOW it's awesome!! I make diabetic desserts for potlucks. Diabetics are always overlooked at these functions. Being diabetic and a dessert queen, it became a game changer when I was diagnosed several years ago. My dessert kitchen became a diabetic dessert "lab". So now, I bring diabetic friendly desserts to these potlucks, among is cheesecake, pies, puddings and cookies. Voortmans make sugar free wafer cookies as well as other sugar free cookies. They also now make sugar free chocolate chips in dark, milk and "white" chocolate. I like to take the orange or peanutbutter wafer, dip the two ends in the melted sugar free chocolate (about an inch up or little less) and let them set. Delicious! I have been thanked many times for these contributions, even by curious non diabetic "samplers" on how good they are. One woman once stood up and made the announcement on how awesome they were! " and they dont taste sugar free, either!" They are not carb free, but they are very low carb and one can enjoy the occasional indulgence without guilt. After all, at a food fest or potluck, diabetics are going to be there whether only a couple or a few, but I know how depressing it is to only see the richest and sweetest WORSE, decadent desserts on the spread, and you mustn't have any! The torture! So Miss "Dessert Queen" after being diagnosed a type 2, decided to do something about it. I went from making regular cheesecakes to diabetic friendly, same with pies, cookies and other goodies. And they are just as decorated and enticing as the regular! But the rule still applies, "a piece, not the whole thing!" But we dont have to be left out at the dessert table anymore!

I just HAD to report back! The Thanksgiving Day feast is done. I avoided all bread, crackers, potatoes and other starches. I had my fill of Turkey and vegs, cheese, Italian ham/salami and hot stuffed cherry peppers. And I had 3 slices of this low-carb chocolate drizzle orange cheesecake. My blood glucose 1 hour later: Not bad; 74!!! Another testament to low carb eating and intermittent fasting! Thanks for all your inspiration!

I will definitely try your recipe. Since I was first told I was having pre diabetes, I got very scared of eating every little thing, probably that is why I lowered my A1c.
But after trying and trying more healthy foods without being scared anymore I feel more healthy and my blood sugars does not spike higher even after eating my good size meals, I added more variety of foods, more veggies and also added fruits in my diet and does not hurt my blood sugar, thanks to your advice of eating certain types of fruits.
Thanks a lot for all the recipes and the health advices.

I enjoy your videos all the time , may God Bless you with what you’re both doing in Africa.
I’m not diabetic but 3 years ago the doctor said I was pre diabetic I did the keto diet lost 15lbs and then when I went back he said I was in the normal range. But he said I still needed to lose weight...I started the journey on the Keto lifestyle 6 weeks ago and have lost 12 lbs. I was 150 years ago but gained 30lbs. I want this lifestyle of being able to have dominion of myself. Not the other way around, carb eating just gets out of control. Thanksgiving is just around the corner and I was even thinking of breaking the lifestyle for apple pie.
But since I’ve watched your video I think I’m doing this cheese cake and see how well I like it. Thank you for this encouraging video. God Bless you my Brother and Sister (Ben) in Christ Jesus Amen 🙏❤️

My fav dessert is no sugar lime or cherry jello made according to directions on the box, with a half pkg. of softened cream cheese blended in. Then I add some chopped pecans and slivered almonds. Pre diabetes I added crushed pineapple. Now, I think the crunchy almond slivers are just as good and sort of take the place of the pineapple.

Well, I made the Hurry up and Wait Cheesecake and enjoyed it immensely. I learned some things along the way: You have to be careful in what you select as a sugar substitute: Some items that advertise themselves as Stevia based have a first ingredient of Maltodextrin! Yep - you want Stevia as a natural sweetener and some products are bulked up with the one sweetener that has a higher glycemic index than glucose! So be careful out there. There are a few other things - I started with sliced almonds and crushed them by hand with a spoon (I don't have a blender) which worked well but I was a little short. I had assumed that 1.5 cups of whole almonds might be the same as about a cup of sliced, but not quite. Also, for the topping I mistakenly used the 1:1 stevia mix instead of straight stevia, so it was less sweet but still good. Then my wife tells me that she doesn't care for the orange extract. Darn, I have to eat the whole thing myself over the next week. :)

I have high hopes for this recipe. I'm glad you had a good trip and are both back safely. I have to take issue with one point in the video however. Poirot is the coolest detective on TV. I have put Foyle's War on my watchlist but I doubt he will hold the proverbial candle to Poirot. If you haven't watched you must. He is played by David Suchet. Love love love David Suchet. He came to Christianity as an adult and has a wonderful conversion story. Somewhat CS Lewis-like. If you're interested I can send you a link. Thank you so much for this recipe I’ll be making this. I love deserts but all of them are so high in sugar 😎

You can lower the carbs by using pecans or hazelnuts, instead of almonds. Or use a cookie recipe for the crust.

If you are only using stevia, you want to cut down on the amount you use, because it is much sweeter than erithritol, and unprocessed stevia can have a bit of a bitter aftertaste for at least some people. The amount of non-sugar sweetener you should use varies, depending on the type.

I make a no bake version.
To the Almond mix I usually add 85% chocolate, with the butter it usually solidifies the base.
I have gone as far as adding peanut butter to the mix - which makes it even yummier.
I use inulin, not cheap but very high in fibre.
As for cheese part, I usually use soft cream cheese or full fat / half fat curd cheese, sweetened to taste. No baking required, just place in the refrigerator.
Vanilla extract has been experimented with as well as adding mixed spice. The variations are endless. 😀

Dennis, I agree that Swerve can be quite expensive. Especially if you use it when making low carb deserts for example.
So what I started doing was...rather than buy Swerve, I have a bag of erythritol and a small coffee grinder and grind the erythritol myself.
It saves a lot of money but swerve and erythritol are the same thing. I can also do that with monk fruit as well, etc.

The real reason you are having the desert that late is so you can have that whole pie to yourself.:)

@ Dennis Pollock Was as the doctor's today. Fasting blood sugar was 74 mg /dl. HbA1C was 5.4 % Has been 5.4 % for 4 months now. I went to an Interfaith Thanksgiving service tonight. Have two small mandarin oranges and three small pieces of dark chocolate. Stayed clear of all the homemade hundreds of cookies and brownies. Blood sugar was 119 mg/dl, when I got home, which is a good number after fruit and dark chocolate. A non-scale win!

Dennis you must be related to Jackson Pollock with that design on the chocolate topping. p.s. I actually walked on to the set of Foyle's War when they were filming in Dublin, it was in Bull Alley St. beside St. Patrick's Cathedral, I have images of it.
