Do Boar Bristle Brushes Really Work? And Why?

  • Most of you have probably heard of using a boar bristle brush or may even have one. But the real question is do you know why boar bristles are great for your hair and why the right type of boar bristle makes all the difference?
    Boar bristle brushes are designed to help smooth the cuticle of the hair down. This is important because when a cuticle is raised it can create tangles in your hair and tangles can lead to hair breakage. Along with this when a cuticle is raised hair shows less shine. Think of your hair's cuticle as a piece of tape on a table if the tape is not laid flat on the table the color of the table is a bit dull or not as sharp. Now if you lay that piece of tape flat and smooth it out onto the table the color of the table is clear and very sharp.
    Not all boar bristles are created equal. You want to make sure to know what to look for when choosing the right boar bristle brush as boar blends do not create the same results.
    Check out my video above as I show you the sister brush to the Wet Brush. The Shine Brush is designed with Mongolian boar and Intellifex bristles to not only detangle hair but to also help lay cuticle flat increasing shine. And for those who use a style extending spray this is a perfect match to use with each application.

    The wet brush is by far the best hair brush I have ever used. I have very long wavy/curly hair that is often quite prone to tangling. I have tried nearly all the popular brushes currently available and the wet brush works at least 10 times better than all of them. I also have consistently found that it is easier to use and gives a better result than the other popular brush, the “tangle teaser” brush. I love the wet brush and probably have 3 total and I keep one permanently in the bath tub so I can use it to easily detangle 100% my hair in the shower before rinsing out the conditioner.

      Have to agree, the wet brush is the best brush I have ever used. Having curly very long hair it's been a mission of epic proportions and many years to find the right brush. Now I'm on the search for a brush that I can use for when my hair is dry, that doesn't pull or break my hair.

    I saw the Wet Brush also comes in a version with synthetic boar bristles, it's called Wet Brush Go Green Oil Infused. My question is, does that one have the same effect of making the hair soft and hydrated with the natural oils? or is this a property that only natural boar bristles have? Cause I am trying to decide which one to pick.

    Thank you for this! I also would like to know about how to ensure you get your hair cut in a healthy way, I feel like a lot of salons "butcher" our hair so it does not stay manageable. How should we ensure our hair be cut so that it looks and is maintained like your mannequin's?

    • @fabulously695
      @fabulously695 6 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Little Witch often times, over texturising hair can cause this, I am being taught the classic way of cutting hair, which takes years to master, however, the way the hair is cut, is the way it air dries meaning it's easily styled at home, and it's difficult to do and most places will not teach it sufficiently, I wasn't and as a qualified stylist, I am having to relearn everything to do with cutting, so in order to blend bad or choppy cuts, they texturise you and blow dry it so it lays how they want it to. But it's then hell to style at home. Look for a salon that does both long haircuts, and short haircuts styled sleek and straight, curling the hair hides the inconsistencies , as well as that, make sure they teach you how to style it yourself with the correct products

    • @LittleWitchMusic
      @LittleWitchMusic 6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Wow! :) I cannot thank you enough for all of this valuable information. I always wondered why it looked so great coming out of the salon, then at home you had to readjust and wait a couple weeks to "tame" it back into place and get it the way you'd like it. I've been to a couple of places where it seems like they texturized it. There is one salon I keep going back to, who's master stylist knows how to cut my hair so it stays sleek for months afterwards. I was able to grow my hair very long that way - thanks to his mastery. I wish you so much luck on your journey re-learning all the techniques. Next time, I will ask them how to style it an make sure they are not hiding inconsistencies. I wish there were hair salons for people to go to pay for a quick education lesson, and be able to trust the information their stylist gave them. Most of the time its about profit, but I would pay top dollar for someone I could trust. Last place I got my hair done was a recommendation from TH-cam, I got my hair dyed blonde with Olaplex treatment and cut. But the new stylist I had didn't listen to what shade of blonde I wanted and cut my hair too short, yet very bluntly. It didn't seem like she cared about how I looked after, but only that she'd get paid. It cost $300 and took a year to grow back to its original length. I feel like that first initial 15 minutes discussing what you want done is SO important because if that is rushed through, the stylist doesn't really know what you want. Where are you from?

      @@LittleWitchMusic It's true, most salons today just wanna throw you some expensive products you don't need, or that you would find way cheaper in a store at the mall, so that they make a profit and get rid of you quick. And yes, when they mess up a cut, they just arrange it in a way that you only realise it after you wash it at home.
