Good evening everyone! I hope you’re all having a good Thursday and thank you so much for joining me for these amazing scones. I’ll be down in the comments 🙂👇
I’m recovering from my cancer surgery. My sweet neighbor made me fresh scones with cream and jam and this so reminded me. I am allergic to strawberries so she used cherry!
I just made these for a late night sweet snack and OMG they are good even without the dry fruit! Made me think of the best scones I had from Callander, Scotland ages ago!! Thankyou so much for sharing the recipe :D
Oh Cheryl, these look FABULOUS, I can't wait to try them. I've never made scones before, I always thought they were too difficult. Thank you for sharing xx
I saw this video tonight.. Less than an hour later, I’m pulling out my scale, making up some self-rising flour, and stirring up your lovely recipe. I absolutely love scones and love trying new recipes. The only changes I made was to add about 40-50g craisins (sweetened dried cranberries) along with your raisins. My cream was fresh from this morning’s milking, so hadn’t thickened sufficiently yet. I also brushed the tops with cream and sprinkled a little sugar on top. We ate ours with fresh butter. They were beautiful and delicious!
Hi Cheryl, instead of rubbing the cubesof butter into the flour. I measure out a piece of butter then i grate it into the flour on the fine side of a grater mixing now and then so that it does not clump. The butter must be cold and just dip it in the flour while grating. Then mix, addding the other ingredients. This works really well. Thanks for your recipe🙏Gale
Oh my god these bad boys look extremely delicious. Finished With Fresh Scottish Strawberries Absolutely Delicious 😋 I cannot wait to make these today. I hope your having an amazing day Cheryl
Absolutely love your recipes. Im Scottish and love the Scottish food. Ive made your Butteries and today made your Scones, both were great. I live in Ireland and couldnt get lard for Butteries but made them with all butter, yum. Thankyou for your Videos x
Looks great to me! I once made a jam from plums and pears. I had to re-invent this, 'cause it was no longer produced from a company. And this one was a great sucess. Let me tell you, what I did: I was looking for as much fruit and vitamins as possible. So I used 1:3 gelatinig sugar. Peeled the fruits and blitzed them. I went 50:50 on them. Mixed in the sugar. And heated it up just to get it to a boil. So the gelanting sugar was able to do it's job. Then, while still hot, I added some ground cinnamon to taste. (Just a little will go a long way!) Sucess: little Mary-Ann usually HATED plums. She almost inhaled this one :-) Little Mary-Ann is 24 now and mom of 2. We're still friends. Greetings from the far north of Germany!
double cream is the best 💖 heavy whipping cream cannot achieve this luscious texture😋 I like jam first, then the cream, on my scone. Thanks for a delicious recipe, Cheryl!
Wow! Those look amazing. Don't know how you didn't just eat one with butter just out of the oven. For those of us (in US) who cannot readily get caster sugar. Process/blend your sugar for a few seconds to break it down a bit smaller.
Great scone recipe Cheryl. I do like mine with raspberry jam on first and then Cornish clotted cream on top but without the sultanas those ones I just have butter on. I also like savoury cheeses scones oh delicious 😊
Wow, cream scones are one of my favorite desserts. It would be the best to have it with a cup of coffee. It's also a good idea to add cream scones and fresh fruit. Thanks for sharing the best ideas. I'll also make it by referring to your video 😋😋
everywhere I'm down south there's scones that aren't much cop - supermarket ones especially are garbage; tasteless! ; I went up some cafes in troon and balloch back up in Scotland and the scones were really good. So I set about getting a recipe that made them as good and tried yours...... and if anything they turned out better - nice texture and flavour out of this world. I might have known if you want something cooked properly you get an Ayrshire lassies recipe..... (my mum was from Ayrshire) lmao; cheers!
I had never baked in my life part from when doing my C&G 1&2. So at Stirling Uni I met Mary. Elderly woman saying she new may parents on our first meet. She did too. Mary taught me many things including making scones. The one rule she didn't teach me was to handle them the least. Kate's dad was a patisserie chef and taught her baking. Rule of thumb, handle scone mixture as least as possible. Mary never told me this. Kate hatted me. I would knock to H out of my scone mixture and every each time where they would rise just like a sky scrapper. I was so proud of my scones. We made any mixture if scone you can imagine and more. It became a competition to see who could make the most diverse one ever. It was brlll.
These look amazing Cheryl - need to try some - I’ve not made scones for ages - I bought a scone recipe book a while ago and never tried any but my hubby loves scones x
Thank you Cheryl for this lovely recipe ! I hope that you stop your shorts… I must be silly but I dont know where to click to see the whole recipe and there are too many.. best wishes from France 🌈💐🇫🇷
I have to admit, I was extremely disappointed when I learned scones were not cone shaped. They look delicious, especially with the cream and jam. The recipe is very similar to the Southern biscuit recipe I use, without the sugar and fruit, of course. Substitute buttermilk for the cream, and add a bit of salt.
I was warned about people like you. Temptresses. I LOVE Scones. (I pronouce them with a long 'ooo''). there is dispute abount this. In the Southwest, Devon/Cornwall they top with clotted cream. Not sure what that is btw and I have fond memories of a 'Strawberry Tea' taken in a Cheddar Gorge Cafe lots of years ago. I have a major problem with this, should I decide to make it. I will have to do a repeat about twice a week or so. As I said, Temptress!!!!!
No it is not. That’s why some British recipes using US self rising flour just don’t come out as well. I think Nigella Lawson has a good make your own self raising flour. Been a while since I made it but I had great scone results.
These look good. It is impossible to find a good scone here in the US so I was hoping to find a good recipe. Scones found here in the US are way too sweet but also usually dry and just not very good.
@@hectorsmommy1717 bummer. We've lots of Irish and some English and Ozzies around here. Just discovered that a café that does high tea has done so well with their sausage rolls that they're now selling them frozen in local markets
@@LindaC616 What general part of the world are you in? I am in the Great Lakes region of the US so finding German, Jewish, and Italian bakeries is really easy. There are British and Irish stores but they only carry non perishable foods and maybe a small selection of frozen.
Wow 🤩 they’re big stoaters Cheryl, don’t think I’ve ever seen such big scones, they look amazing & sound delicious with the addition of cream & milk in your recipe. Think I’ll treat myself & have a go at making these, thanks for sharing 🙏👩🍳🫶🏻 Just curious Cheryl with Easter coming up, have you ever attempted to make home made hot cross buns? Take care xx💗
Finally a proper video! Sorry Cheryl but I don't like all the shorts or reels or whatever they're called. I come on youtube to watch longer videos. All the shorts you've put on this week have clogged up my subscribers page of videos.

So nice to get some comfort food. All the best to you, hope all is well. 🤞

Praying for your full recovery and healing ... Your neighbor's thoughtfulness is awesome !!! Love and kindness are great healers 💖💖💖
It is lovely to have nice neighbors.

Them scones look absolutely delicious Cheryl.🤤 And you keep saying your no chef,l disagree, everything you make turns out perfect.👩🍳👍
Aw thank you Margaret 🥰 but to be fair, most things I make are pretty simple x
Oh Cheryl, these look FABULOUS, I can't wait to try them. I've never made scones before, I always thought they were too difficult. Thank you for sharing xx
You're very welcome Dee! They're dead easy aren't they :) and if you make them smaller...you'll give many more scones from the recipe 🤩
Make the scones! It's such a lovely treat. Worth it.
I bake scones on a regular basis but never tried this recipe...looks fab and will definitely give it a go 😊

Aw I hope your weekend improves my friend 🥰
Definitely making these.
I’m a jam on top person. 😊
Lord have mercy. Now I want scones. Why don't we have these in the USA? Those look fabulous!
What they try to pass off as scones in the US are terrible. They are not the real deal.
@@annegraham4307 Agreed! Sometimes I long for genuine scones with clotted cream and jam......
Jam first, so you can spread the cream without getting sticky 😄😄😋😋
That's my thought process Sue 😄
I still think we need these delivered..yumm

Always butter and jam! Those look delicious ❤
These look amazing. It's so hard finding a decent scone here in the US .
So true! You basically have to find a tea room run by a person from the UK. Otherwise what we call scones here bear no resemblance to these!
Ohhhyummii they look grand ❣ I love scones

I want to make some just not with raisins/sultanas. yumm!❤
Those look like a bit more than a mouthful 😂, especially with the strawberries. Making me hungry!
😆 you'd definitely need a fork..or a spoon!
Looks delicious. Thanks ❤

Tasted even better than they looked! 🤩
Jam as a topper!
My god! I can just see my chops round that! 😋😆
Being in the US I've never had scones with cream and jam, but I love scones plain. I've never tried to make them but maybe I will soon. Thanks!
Jam on first always for me
Those scones look like heaven!

Using frozen butter and grating it into your flour makes it easy to combine the two.
My goodness they look so yummy.
You may want to try and make american buttermilk biscuits with some chicken. So fluffy and yummy!
Oh I like the sound of that! ☺
American biscuits are too bland. After the first 2 when I lived in America I never had them again. I lived in the South

Hi, Cheryl. I gave these a try and they were wonderful. Any ideas what I do about a dislocated jaw?
Going to give this one a go usually mine turn out like rock cakes.
I also tend to make Rock Cakes ..
Jam first for me!
That looks amazing 😊
oh hen im a pure sweet tooth a like a bit a scone im a bit strange tho i like apricot jam with mine also drop scones are nice
Delicious must make some thankyou ❤
Aye delicious. Jam first.
Jam then cream - but I'd scarf them down either way! 😁
Can these scones be frozen ❤❤❤❤❤❤
How do you get your cream so thick?! I can never get mine to thicken up like that.
I know this is a late comment but doesn’t half and half substitute for the milk and double cream?
