- Drawing realistic, highly detailed fur relies on the right technique and it all starts at the base foundation. This is a key process to maximise the depth that is captured in our pastel drawings. There are three main stages that I use which all incorporate any layers within each stage to push the level of realism we can capture when using pastel pencils.

Beautifull portrait! ❤ Is this portrait also on patreon?
@Mauddegroot03 thank you =). No not this one as I already have a Chocolate Labrador pastel tutorial on Patreon.
Great video, always learn so much from you. What are those tools that you use for getting rid of the dust particles called and where do you get them from? Thanks!
@@miriambell2260 thank you so much ❤️. That's just a little air puffer tool and my shark hoover with a car cleaning attachment on the end =). Just saves the dust being blown into the air.
Hi Zara how many base layers do you normally use.Thank you for your time
@sandyphillips2467 it varies depending on the subject but if I'm working just with the pencils as I am here then I usually do 3 because even if I just adjust the lights or darts just slightly that's still part of the base foundation. If I don't have enough softness at the base, I'll add another layer to make sure it's more blended.
This is really a beautiful one, indeed !
I have one quick question - what is it that you are using to clean the pastel dust ?
Thank you =). It's a air puffer tool and my shark house hoover with a car cleaning attachment.
I was thinking the same like a little hoover
