Two weeks ago, I got my hands on the fine woven magnetic link from Apple. And let me tell you, I just can't wrap my head around it. Seriously, Apple, what were you thinking?
I've been rocking this band almost every day, but truth be told, I couldn't make it the full two weeks, It's just not cutting it. I hate to say it, but I can't recommend this band. It's a rare occurrence for me not to sing praises for Apple products, but this one missed the mark. The color options aren't vibrant enough, and despite holding up better than expected, it's a constant battle readjusting throughout the day. It's frustrating, and I'm not alone in this struggle-I've had viewers reaching out with similar issues. For a hundred bucks, it's just not worth the hassle. I'm all for Apple, but sometimes you gotta call it like you see it, and this band, well, it's just bad.

Very annoying. I was looking at the Apple Store app the other day and I wondered why I couldn't find the leather straps. Thanks for the warning, I'm not going to waste money on these inferior ones.

I bought it for my Apple Watch Ultra and it does the same thing , it looses a little though out the day , so I put the small part at the bottom of the watch and the long one at the top in order to make it easier to fix it back when it gets loose. But yeah , the best ones are the Alphine bands.
It seems reviews are mixed here. My Magnetic Link band is coming this Friday or Monday and I’m hoping it don’t experience the same issues you did
I’ve had mine (Taupe) for a couple of weeks. IT WILL NOT STAY SECURE. It slips a link or two within minutes.
Yea it was such a pain that I returned mine. I heard one uses washes theirs with water and mild soap and that helped the slipping a bit.

Hard disagree. I love mine. It's getting difficult to tell whether or not the fine woven line is just disliked because it replaced the leather line (I'm just as disappointed), or if people genuinely don't like it after using it for 3 months. To each their own, but I highly doubt the fine woven debate would be so contentious if it was launched alongside the leather cases and not as a direct replacement.
People love their leather. I truly have it a shot. But the loosening issue is something I truly experienced and was so frustrated by cause it never happened with the leather. Or at least no where near as much. But I am glad you are enjoying yours.
Mine doesn’t even line up when it’s secure around my arm. It’s a 1/4 inch off on one edge light the magnets are repelling each other. I clicked it in properly, not sure why they won’t line up.
That’s weird. If everything is on correctly it should line up if you have an Apple Store close by I would take it in.
@@TheAppleBias it was a Christmas gift and soon after I posted above I realized I have to to take it back because I have a 7+ that only goes to iOS 15.8 and not iOS 17. “They really should put the warning before the spell.” - Dr. Strange. I plan to revisit getting an iwatch after a phone upgrade soon but best to return now before return window closes :/ ps thanks for video and reply, both were helpful!
X post; Day 1; color (Taupe) is definitely cool in daylight. I have a manual labor job (building computers), the band does not loosen (typically I take my watch off for the metal detectors but today I kept it on, and it’s as tight as over 12 hours ago). Tried being cautious but in the “flow” I probably hit/scraped it but zero scratches so far.
I still say they should be $69 or $79, but I also think that’s the case for the Trail Loop and Ocean Bands.

Hey man feel like it’s been a bit. Glad you’re not having the loosening issue. It drove me insane. I sent mine back. It def held up looks wise better than my wallet. But it still showed some wear way sooner than I feel it should.
Just got my Ultra 2 yesterday and have one of these coming in the mail, so we’ll see. Exact same one you’ve got here. Thankfully my old sport band fits it fine (which is what I’m using now). If it’s no good, maybe I’ll return it get one of those leather ones on eBay. I think once Apple notices lots of folks returning it they may eventually improve upon it, but I guess time will tell.
Curious did you get the band and how it’s working out for you?
@@TheAppleBias Just saw this… I returned it! Been wearing a Nike band. Basically those soft/rubbery sport bands have been perfect for me because they stay put and don’t shift around. I really don’t want to have to worry about readjusting my watch all the time (or about it getting wet while washing hands or especially out here in Portland with the rain).

I think they should make a silicone version of this band with the magnets. Personally I haven’t got this band yet but I am planning to do so in the future. The only thing that concerns me is that it might loosen during a workout or wear down during washing hands.
Yeah I wouldn’t recommend this one at all during a workout.
I had exactly this problem then I unclipped the bands from the watch and swapped them over and now it doesn't slip at all.

@@nico-lx4ts I took the top band and put it on the bottom and put the bottom band on the top.
My problem I have with this watch band is if i do some sort of exercise envolving moving my arms very fast, it goes flying off my wrist. Something I just want to point out, the root problem for me is the weak magnets that can get detached so easily.
Does the watch fully come off or just loosen?
@@TheAppleBias The watch fully comes off after a few movements, for example it can withstand for some time then it just falls on my floor then it repeats the process. Also realistically speaking this can get extremely annoying because I put the watch on, it falls off and so on and so forth until I just put the watch away and do my stuff without it.

I just recently got the alpine loop band and I didn't think I would like it compared to the velcro sports bands but it turns out I really like it. It fits me quite well and does not move around.

I’m so glad you did this video. I bought the same band and I hate it. Mine also loosens during the day. I have to put it on my lap to get it tight enough. I’m definitely returning it.
Hate that you had the same issue and many others and me with the band. The leather one was so good.
I have a Taupe in my Apple Cart right now and thought I should do research first. HAD in my cart. My Series 4 is not lasting 14 hours now.
On my band, the fix appears to be simple - wash it with mild soap and water; towel & air dry it. Mine was slipping after a week, but my working theory is oil & dirt gets on the contact surfaces via my thumb and makes it slippery. YMMV.
Interesting. Good to know. Mine started slipping right away. But guess it still could have been fixed possible by that. Still something I didn’t have had to worry about with the leather tho. I returned mid so I won’t be able to find out if that would fix it or not.
I just got mine, love the colour as it compliments my series 6 blue watch, but it keeps coming loose. Not sure if I just have to get used to it as I only ever wore the rubber band, which has a secure clasp and felt nice and tight. I also got the leather and it doesn't feel very tight either (but doesn't get as loose), so could be that I just need to get used to it...

Yeah it’s such a bummer the leather worked so well for me. Latest rumor is that the next watch will have a different band clasp system tho. So non of these bands will work with it.
Agree. Stopped using it for awhile and the magnet looses it more and now I cannot use it anymore.

Glad to have help some people seem not to have the issues I had. But a lot do as well. So personally I just don’t think it’s worth the risk for the money.

Happy to help. I have a few people that didn’t have the loosening issue. That was my biggest gripe on it. But I had more people that had the issue than those that didn’t yet.
I could not disagree more. I love the new mag link. It’s much more durable than leather, and I haven’t noticed any increase in the amount of re adjustments vs the leather links I have. You wanna know what does constantly need readjusting? The Milanese loop. A band I also love, but there’s no denying that I adjust that one 2-3x as often. That being said, I also don’t get what you mean about it being difficult to adjust. All you do is peel back until only one or two of the magnets are engaged and then either push the under part into the wrist to tighten or push the over part away to loosen. Doesn’t take much more than adjusting the Milanese and is much faster to adjust than the sport band or sport loop.
So far you’re the only one I’ve found. But glad to hear someone does like it. Milanese only has that one magnet and yeah it loosens a lot. With this one my issue is it just tries to reconnect before I am in the right position like I said it’s weird and frustrating cause I feel like the magnets are stronger, but rarely do I have to readjust the leather and this one I am doing constantly. I didn’t talk too much about durability cause it looked ok but you can def see the wear on it after just 2 weeks in the close up shots which is than I have on some of my Lester bands after 1-2 years of owning them. But seriously glad to hear someone likes it.

Interesting. When I had the Milanese loop, it never needed adjust for me. That was my favorite band when I had the Gold series 8

I just got this band, and I hate it. I am making adjustments to re-tighten the watch band more than a couple of times a day. That concerns me because I don’t want to be in a situation where the watch flies off my wrist while I am in the middle of some physical activity. That would be a big loss. Too much money for an insecure watch band. I had an aftermarket magnetic band that is similar to Apple’s Milanese Loop magnetic band. That type seems to work better because the looping helps the magnetized band to stay in place for the day.

the polarity on it does not allow it to line up at least for the one I got; returning it. Expected way more for $100.00. JUnk.
Are you guys all wearing it backwards? My leather link has the overlap facing me, video has it on the other side
The magnets only connect strongly on way. Now as far as in putting the shorter band on top or bottom to change the overlap that’s all user preference and won’t affect how it fits or holds.
@@TheAppleBias yeah I realized my mistake after I was putting on my new band on Friday haha. I will say the instructions do have tiny indicators you can see on the inside of the band that tell you top vs bottom. I’ve been wearing my leather link reversed the whole time…
I spent the weekend with the new magnetic link and I’m a big fan so far. I do have a clue about possible loosening though. Mine arrived with the portion of the band nearest the lug very stiff. Over time this should relax to let the band bend from watch down to wrist. It could be as it goes from stiff and straight to downwards bending that the fitment changes. Or maybe they had some slight revision and mine slips less 🤷
I have the black leather one. I wonder why they have altered it?
They wanted to go carbon neutral and apparently can’t sell leather and carbon neutral. 🤷♂️

Wish I had watched this BEFORE I asked for this for Christmas….. had it on for less than 24 hours and it’s been slipping off regularly….. worse yet it was recommended by an Apple rep who was wearing one …
Sorry. Some people have told me they don’t have a slipping issue at all. So he may have been one of them. I feel like I’ve heard more with it than without tho.

For fun I bought a knock off watchband in Thailand for three dollars for my ultra. It was great so I bought like 30 more. They are all awesome. I have three genuine watchbands and honestly I mix them all up. none of them are worth it, please believe me. I have no reason to lie to you. The generic ones are perfect. Spending $100 for any of these, especially these new vegan whatever is ridiculous.
I think the sport bands are better than any the knockoff versions same for the Milanese loop. But there are a lot of 3rd party bands for fraction of the cost that are pretty amazing.
I think that the Apple Watch easier to snatch off someone's wrist with Magnetic Link Band than the Solo Loop or Braided Solo Loop. If you were to be a thief and wanted to seal someones Apple Watch with a Braided Solo Loop or regular Solo Loop, you would have to swoop down and grab onto the watch case and have to pull with such immense force that you snap the watch band to break the watch free of the persons wrist. But if you were wearing the Magnetic Link Band, that their would just have to swiftly swoop by, snatch the watch and have enough time to get away. So If you will be in a crowd in a public space, don't wear this band or say bye bye to your Apple Watch.
I made a video about this with the first leather link band. Got a lot of pushback but I fully agree. The band does make it easier to steal off your wrist.

same for me. Was wearing a 41mm apple watch before, but changed to 45mm recently. and got this magnetic link for it, totally disappointed. Like you said, it loose very easily and have to frequently re-adjust it. And it totally not worth it, come on Apple. You want to be more environmentally friendly and cut off all leather stuff and use recycled materials, and could you please reduce the price? It's a joke to sell it the same price for a recycled fabric material as a real leather product. The leather one just like water resistant, can be cleaned very easily. For this new one, I even have to wear it off before washing hands. What a shame for apple just taking money from us.
Yeah rumor is they are discontinuing the fine woven cases. I hope they do the same with the bands.

Couldn’t agree more. I just got the tope one and will be taking it back. Readjusting the strap every 45 minutes. Leather one actually held. Embarrassing they let this thing actually go to market.
Had someone say watching the band with water and mild soap. Stopped the loosening might be a worth a shot.
100% agree, the band is horrible. I actually love the colour and a have the matching phone case, but I don’t love either. The watch band begins to loosen almost immediately upon putting it on and the phone case shows a very noticeable MagSafe ring mark. They are just inferior to the leather ones.
Yeah I am amazed they are selling this thing. I’d rather they just drop the Link band lineup altogether than release this junk.

3:00 Wrong. Killing/abusing/eating animals in masses is a huge problem for our climate. And if they still serve meat in their cafe that's one thing. To sell animal skin on millions of products world wide every year is a whole other story imho. And apart from that: Nobody is perfect. But doing something is way better than doing nothing.
But they aren’t doing it for the animal. It’s for being carbon neutral and even more so for publicity. I did the whole vegan thing for a couple years. So I know it possible to survive without eating animals but I also believe that some of them were put here on this earth for us to eat. 🤷♂️
