How Vans shoes are made: Step 1.) Organic rubber is cured through vulcanization, cut to the shape of the sole, and pressed like a waffle to give it the unique Vans pattern.
Step 2.) The rest of the shoe is made.

I will ALWAYS support this company! They donated so many shoes and clothes to people who were effected by hurricane Harvey and although I didn’t need the help, the fact that they stepped up and the owner himself was handing out shoes across Houston is phenomenal! I gladly support this company for as long as I have feet!!

I don't know if this is true or if I understood my mom correctly - but my whole life my mom has told me that when she was young in the 60's, you used to be able to bring any fabric to the Vans store and they would make your shoes out of it... So you could have matching shoes with your outfit (I guess it was common for people to make their own clothes back then). Best part, she said the shoes were ridiculously cheap, like $2 or $3 (which obviously was worth more back then, but still...)
It's been 2 years, but yes you could. I just read the book on Paul Van Doren, and it stated that they would make shoes with any fabric someone brought in.
Im an employee at vans, in the training videos they give you insight to some of the company’s history. The answer: yes it was stated a lot of times, the first shoe was the authentic which you could basically bring in any fabric you wanted to and they would make the shoe and have it ready the next day, I’m not 100% certain but I’m pretty sure the first shoe (authentic) sold for $2.66 or something around that. But yeah vans was a very forward thinking store especially for how sentimental it is (the authentic shoe is still being sold today just the same as it was back in 1966)

I see that a lot of people think that vans are uncomfortable and my cure is that you should buy the pro skate versions of the Vans, these vans have a thicker insole for more comfort but it was mainly for when skaters jump down stuff for impact protection. Vans pros are also made made of suede and have more padding around your ankle. Hope this helps

I just got my first pair of Vans in Friday and they are amazing! So comfortable yet they look nice! Definitely recommended.

Honest option from long time customer I've wore vans every day of my life since 1991 I have many pairs I love the brand and what it has overcome but... the quality isn't what it used to be the durability of a pair of vans has gone downhill a pair just worn to a job 40 hours a week only last me a few months when I have had pairs of vans that look great for a year or so but still love them
YES!!!! I totally agree. Now they're just mass produced in a Chinese factory like everything else to fill the hypebeast demand. Back in 90s when I used to skate and bike, they actually served a purpose!
Dirtyd23 I will agree that the quality might have gone downhill but you’re still exaggerating. My current pair of Vans is two years old but it’s still wearable.
I bought a pair of vans 5 years ago that are still together and only now is the sole starting to crack and wear away. However the pair i bought a year ago for work (40 hour week as you said), I barely wore for 6 months before the sole started to wear away and the insole had completely run down and started to fall out. The quality is pretty piss poor at this point, especially considering the prices have gone up for them.
Yeah. I worked at Vans and they gave me my first pair free so I can't complain too much since I didn't have to pay but I had to replace them after a few months of work. They were falling apart.

Billie Eilish I’m not sure if vans is guilty of this but many other popular brands are (ie Nike). That person was referring to child labor. Many goods are made by underpaid children in bad conditions. Companies have factories in poorer countries and use child labor because it is cheaper to make the goods that way.
