He’s the best in the business. So underrated. He wrote so many songs. Great in concert. My favorite ever. He wrote this about his first wife Cynthia Rhodes who was an actress ( best known for her role in Dirty Dancing). I saw him in concert. We were all shy. It was out of awe in how beautiful his voice is after all these years. Just breathtaking!
He's also a prolific songwriter. He actually did do a boy band song, he wrote This I Promise You. N'Sync. He sang it with one of them. He wrote for Luther Vandross, they were close friends. He did one of Luther's biggest hits, Dance With My Father. Another great, upbeat song by him is Keep Coming Back. Flipping amazing. I've loved this man since his debut album. Not dating myself at all......
I loved Richard Marx! I had his albums Richard Marx and Right Here Waiting totally memorized! Right Here Waiting was bittersweet. I married my husband, and we were both active duty army. He was in San Antonio at Ft Sam, and I was in Kansas at Ft Riley. Then he went to the Sinai for a year. Then I went to Bolivia for 6 mos. He was in PA. A week after I returned to the states, I was deployed to the Middle East for Desert Shield/Storm, for another 6 mos. I don’t think any marriage could have withstood those stressors. I think we were together 6 wks in almost 3 yrs. We divorced a few months after I returned from the Middle East.
I think he got famous and was marketed right before Grunge rock took over, and then everyone forgot or treated him like a joke, but he was a really good songwriter with a great voice. He's definitely considered milquetoast by a lot of people, but I like his sincere delivery and skill.
The studio version is accompanied via piano... HIGHLY recommend! Where you say you seem to recognize the song, I'm guessing the piano intro on the studio version will seal it.
Hi from France, Britt! 😊 You are 100% right about the boys' band vibe. He write N'sinc's biggest hit "This l promise you". Also, check him out in his 80's heydays: he was a boys' band by himself before they existed!😅
Richard wrote for all genres. He wrote with Lionel Richie, wrote songs for N’Sync like this I promise you. He wrote for hair metal band Vixen, Edge of a Broken Heart
The Studio version has a slightly different feel than this Acoustic version, but just as good! "Angelia"... "Should've known better", "Endless Summer Nights"... He got quite a few Bangers under his belt.
Hi Britt, the piano version of this song is a late 80's/early 90's hit song. Interesting other creations where Richard sang/helped out Dance with my father (Luther Vandross), This I promise you (N- Sync), The One That Got Away (Kenny Loggins) and Crazy (Kenny Rogers)
I LOVE his voice and this song is one of my favorites. I used to sing it to my now ex-husband who was in the Navy before he would go overseas before we got married. I still love the song, though. It reminds me of the better times with him. It's bittersweet for me now.
I was a big fan of Marx when he came out,,,still am. Listen to his music all the time, In fact, I still have his first album which I bought on tape cassette in 1987. His 2nd album, Repeat Offender [1989], my sister and I listened to ad nauseum....One of his absolute best tracks was 'Hazard'...hope u check it out sometime!!
Oh my! I loved Richard Marx so much in the 80's. When my high school love broke up with me this song cut me like a knife. We were togwther from the very beginning of freahman year until the beginning of our senior year. That man broke my heart so bad back then.i waited for him for 5 months to come back to me, but he had been cheating on me with my very best friend. They both crushed me! I lost my man AND my best friend all at once. This song is so beautiful. EDIT: This song was in the movie "Notting Hill" with Julia Roberts & Hugh Grant. It was never the theme of a tv show
My husband met Richard’s mother and father at the old Universal Recording Studio in Chicago. Dick Marx, like his son, was a prolific musician with a stellar reputation. And according to everyone was a complete gentleman.
Richard Marks is a wounderful singer and also an exceptional songwriter he wrote many hits for him and also for others one of them is Céline Dion it’s a wounderful song called dance with my father he wrote this and gave it to Celine after the lost of her father here’s the song in the video Richard is on the piano th-cam.com/video/GYbXSNVZCP0/w-d-xo.htmlsi=DHwf-8b6ttlEdbVk
He is such a great singer/songwriter. Check out "Dance with my father ", "Endless Summer Nights" and "Now and Forever." He won a Grammy for Song of the Year in 2004 for a remake of "Dance with my Father."
I had my first look at this guy 1985 or 1986 when he was opener for Tina Turner in the Waldbühne, Berlin. The audience was so cruel, clearly there for Tina not for Richard. I was one of the few listening and i was really sorry for this dude singing beautiful songs with his great voice. Good to hear him again! 😊
You could be remembering the studio version (that's a LOT different, instrumentally -- w some distinct bass not here) -- probably from your childhood if not from something more recent. Still remember this debuting in the Summer of 1987, I think. I had my first job -- a lot of fun working w a bunch of colorful Viet Nam Vets.
I remember this from decades ago. There's an edit for the Kate and Anthony story on Bridgerton Season 2 using this song. It's so sweet it makes me cry. 😢
I had an encounter in an airport waiting area. I recognized him, and I knew that he knew that I did, but I gave him his privacy, as much as it was in my power to do so. ❤️🎶
Love Richard Marx! Great song writer underrated vocalist. He was a big influence for JC from Nsync. Maybe where you heard the boyband. John Mayer a fan of his as well
I was fortunate enough to be invited by a friend to a concert when he came here. I think he had recently recorded this song. He said he had written it for his wife (at the time) and how he missed her on the road trips. He has so many hits. Endless Summer Nights, Should Have Known Better, Hazard, etc...
Beautiful love song ANOTHER GREAT PIC BRITT Movie Knotting Hill. He actually wrote the song lyrics dedicated love to his wife while she was working, volunteering, in Africa Ya Rock Britt Pick Em Truck 70s ice cream gearl KEEP EM COMING DARLIN 🎶 🎵 🎤 😊😊😅😅
He has a special acoustic Version of Katy Perry's Song „The One That got Away“ and you should Listen to his Song „Now and Forever“ 🤌🏼✨ Greetings from Germany 🇩🇪 ✌🏼
His ex-wife is a dancer and she was in the Toto video of Roseanna and she was also the blonde dancer who got pregnant in the movie Dirty Dancing. They were married for many years
Do any of you remember the fairly recent McDonald’s commercial where the two young women are sitting and talking in a car in a McDonald’s parking lot. As they’re talking, this AWESOME Richard Marx song is playing on the radio, and one of the girls says, “WHAT are we listening to (OMG)??!!” It’s kind of like, “Like, UGH…..like seriously UGH, what is this?!” Well, that commercial did not sit well with a ton of people in the viewing audience because obviously this is a GREAT song, and it was a very stupid idea to try to make fun of this incredibly popular 80s hit. However, a lot of people were surprised that Richard Marx would be okay with having his classic love song be trampled upon by these two seemingly clueless young women (obviously they were just saying their line).
Check out the original just for yourself. He plays the piano/guitar. Younger version of him and song is slightly faster. Both versions beautiful. Many other songs to check out.
You mentioned "Boy Bands" a couple of times, it just so happens Richard Marx wrote "This I Promise You" for "N' Sync", that ended up being one of their biggest hits! N' Sync was one of the largest Boy Bands ever, it had Justin Timberlake in it!
Why does she go out of her way to not do the studio versions of the songs she reacts too? Almost always these live versions are inferior and the singers are past their prime. To not hear the song with the piano is just a crime and she's not hearing the correct version that made it such a great song. Take away the piano and you are losing so much that made this song so good and you are left with this mediocre live version. Just maddening. 😕
FIRST... This is a PIANO SONG... the guitar doesn't even do it justice. His biggest album came out in 1989 which had multiple number 1s including this one and "Hold on to the Nights"... He was an "Adult Contemporary" artist... kind of like Michael Bolton... but you need to react to the studio version... It's much better...IMO
Hey my cousin!!! I love this! I hear him every time I am in the Home depot, he is on the short playlist they have repeating there. He lost his mom a short wile ago...a tragic loss. I loved my aunt and miss her very much. Keep an eye out for the Marx Brothers... not sure exactly what they are up to but its exciting to see/hear whats coming next.
One of the most underrated acts of the 80s. His songs were absolute perfection. Brilliant songwriter and artist.
He was awful.
@@1dkappe lmao, if you don't like him, then why did you watch the video? Makes no sense. Either way, good day to you.
@@Ancient_Drummer I didn’t. I’ve had the misfortune of watching him back in the day. I occasionally watch her reaction videos.
He’s the best in the business. So underrated. He wrote so many songs. Great in concert. My favorite ever. He did one of Luther's biggest hits, Dance With My Father. Another great, upbeat song by him is Keep Coming Back. Flipping amazing. I've loved this man since his debut album. Not dating myself at all......
This song and many others from him were mainstays at all the school dances growing up in the 80's.
I loved Richard Marx! I had his albums Richard Marx and Right Here Waiting totally memorized! Right Here Waiting was bittersweet. I married my husband, and we were both active duty army. I absolutely love him. I always will ❤

Artists like Marx were one of the reasons grunge became popular: a reaction to the drivel being pumped out by the industry.
Richard was very popular in the late 80s and early 90s, many wonderful hits to check out. He was a favorite of mine during that time.
Oh how I love this beautiful song….😊❤
The studio version is accompanied via piano... HIGHLY recommend! Where you say you seem to recognize the song, I'm guessing the piano intro on the studio version will seal it.

I knew you'd love Richard Marx, Britt. I'm delighted you reacted so positively to his song 😊
This song sounds similar to ‘This I Promise You’ sung by N’Sync but written by Richard Marx. You’ll hear it if you listen to them side by side. 😊
I remember so many couples skates to this song at Skateland. Loved this music growing up.
Richard wrote for all genres. He wrote with Lionel Richie, wrote songs for N’Sync like this I promise you. He wrote for hair metal band Vixen, Edge of a Broken Heart
you should do the studio version
This song is a hundred times better when he sits by his piano and singing it
The Studio version has a slightly different feel than this Acoustic version, but just as good!
"Angelia"... "Should've known better", "Endless Summer Nights"... He got quite a few Bangers under his belt.
Don't Mean Nothin'
I think this song was in the movie Notting Hill! But I'm sure it's been in lots of shows, etc! Richard Marxx has so many fantastic songs!!!! ❤❤❤❤❤❤
This is my guy! He is a great writer and singer!
Lovely romantic vibes ❤❤❤
Suara nya amazing...and col...dan tim kreatornya juga sangat manis...🤗♥️
My Favourite song from him is "Angel's Lullabye"

He wrote this song to his wife that was working in Africa...a love song written for her
One Tree Hill is amazing! Listen to the studio with the piano. It’s gorgeous.
I LOVE his voice and this song is one of my favorites. I used to sing it to my now ex-husband who was in the Navy before he would go overseas before we got married. I still love the song, though. It reminds me of the better times with him. It's bittersweet for me now.
You should hear the studio version. It made him famous.

Richard Marx - Hazard is a must
Awesome song!!!
1) Chad Michael Murray-- YES. 2) His song "Endless Summer Nights" is amaaaaaaaazing.
One of my favorite songs from back in the day ❤❤❤
Oh my! I loved Richard Marx so much in the 80's. When my high school love broke up with me this song cut me like a knife. I think it has a kind of country flavor to it. Brings back memories from an easier time. 🥲
This is so very beautiful!! He is singing his heart out to his girl. Love your reaction!♥
This song was in the movie The Notebook. Maybe you saw that Britt😊
❤ playing this on the piano 😊

I’ll check it out!
Enjoy all that!
Richard Marx was the Ghost Writer for several artists in the 80's and 90's
He actually wrote N Sync's "This I Promise You" so that is the boy band connection in terms of the feel of his writing.
Was played at the end of Tyler Perry movie Good Deeds!!
I didn’t know that Richard Marx actually wrote this song, I’ve always heard it being sung by Vince Gill and thought he wrote it.
One of the best 80s songs ever , timeless
You could be remembering the studio version (that's a LOT different, instrumentally -- w some distinct bass not here) -- probably from your childhood if not from something more recent. Still remember this debuting in the Summer of 1987, I think. I had my first job -- a lot of fun working w a bunch of colorful Viet Nam Vets.
His music and voice are amazing very underrated.please listen to more
Hold on to the nights is also a great one from him
This song s a must react! My very favorite ❤🥰

Love Richard Marx! Great song writer underrated vocalist. He was a big influence for JC from Nsync. Maybe where you heard the boyband. John Mayer a fan of his as well
As an 80s kid. This was certainly a popular song. His voice is great.
Saw him perform this live in 1990...with my highschool sweetheart...which became my wife.
If you listen to the studio version, the piano is center stage. That’s probably why you feel that you know the song.
There some great songs by Richard Marx, try checking out these songs if you are interested like hazard, lord have mercy, and endless summer nights
I think Britt would love Take That. She'd adore Gary Barlow's voice
I was fortunate enough to be invited by a friend to a concert when he came here. I think he had recently recorded this song. He said he had written it for his wife (at the time) and how he missed her on the road trips. He has so many hits. Endless Summer Nights, Should Have Known Better, Hazard, etc...
The video for Hazard is so haunting and sad
Beautiful love song ANOTHER GREAT PIC BRITT
Movie Knotting Hill.
He actually wrote the song lyrics dedicated love to his wife while she was working, volunteering, in Africa
Ya Rock Britt
Pick Em Truck 70s ice cream gearl
KEEP EM COMING DARLIN 🎶 🎵 🎤 😊😊😅😅
This song was covered by Monica and 112
Good video Britt as always you look amazing ❤️🌹
You should check out a song he wrote for an all girl hard rock group called “Edge of a Broken Heart” by Vixen.
He has a special acoustic Version of Katy Perry's Song „The One That got Away“ and you should Listen to his Song „Now and Forever“ 🤌🏼✨
Greetings from Germany 🇩🇪 ✌🏼
Richard says these days he goes to the dentist just so he can hear his songs playing.
You might like a song by his named, Hazard.
"The reason why the critics love Elvis Costello's music and hate mine is because they look like Elvis Costello." Richard Marx.
That quote was actually by David Lee Roth.
His ex-wife is a dancer and she was in the Toto video of Roseanna and she was also the blonde dancer who got pregnant in the movie Dirty Dancing. They were married for many years
Cynthia Rhodes , and she was in Staying Alive with Travolta too.
The studio version of this is sooooo much better
Btw, generally speaking, I prefer the polished studio versions of songs better than live versions, unless you’re at the concert, of course.
The piano version is the best
You should look him up. He’s written soooooo many hits for other artists, and himself.
Hey miss Britt! Try some opera rock, Jay and the Americans- Cara Mia!
Check out the original just for yourself. He plays the piano/guitar. Younger version of him and song is slightly faster. Both versions beautiful. Many other songs to check out.
Not the best version, but i love this song and it's also very nostalgic since i was in high school. one of top favorites.
Prom song!
You need to go back and watch the original video: you will love his hair! Big hair!!!!
He reminds me of Country artist Colin Ray.
Never heard of him until now!
Monica also covered this song 🥰
You mentioned "Boy Bands" a couple of times, it just so happens Richard Marx wrote "This I Promise You" for "N' Sync", that ended up being one of their biggest hits! N' Sync was one of the largest Boy Bands ever, it had Justin Timberlake in it!
I’ll check them out!
Have to say, I prefer the studio version of this song!
This song was very popular, you probably heard it on the radio. Its funny you mention boy band because he did write songs for N'SYNC.
Thers also the version without the guitar which is much much better
I remember this song, but it was sing a little faster than this
Check out his song Hazard, IMO it's his best.
I’ll look into it!
I watched One Tree Hill solely for Sophia Bush. Massive crush for those eyes and that raspy voice
Why does she go out of her way to not do the studio versions of the songs she reacts too? Almost always these live versions are inferior and the singers are past their prime. Trying to avoid copyright strikes.
@@ebieg11 But other reactors manage to play those songs i just think she's doing herself a disservice playing such inferior versions.
@@ebieg11she partially cover the video with fake rain drops, but she is listening the most crappy version l ever heard of this song.
Agree
Doesn‘t matter with a trash artist like Richard Marx.
This was me and my ex-wife's favorite song while we were engaged!
…also, if you react to this video instead of the guitar he plays the piano and it’s phenomenal
What are you fidgeting with in your hands lol. The offbeat pops are driving me crazy😂😂
I like his version with a piano better.
I wonder if the band Staind got their influence for "Right here" from this song?
Would you check out Staind "Right Here" and compare?
the video version is done with Piano so beautiful even better than this version
Marx's song "HAZARD" is something you have to listen to. Just sayin.
Alot of girls lost their virginity to this song. Made him in the PDC long ago.
Hey my cousin!!! I love this! I hear him every time I am in the Home depot, he is on the short playlist they have repeating there. He lost his mom a short wile ago...a tragic loss.
