😊
Very inspiring, can you please tell me how you afford to do it, what job do you do to keep the money coming in?
@@DanniandJoe clamping down on squatters 😊😊😊
The more we watch you two the more we like you, honestly and integrity all the way.
Thank you Joe n Danni for being a breath of fresh air on youtube, not many of you left sadly.
Happy 2024 🎉❤
Thank you really appreciate it!
We are very lucky to live next door to a dairy farm in Somerset and enjoy raw milk plus cream and eggs
Perfect! We’d love to have chickens one day for our own eggs.
Hello fresh seems to be on this carbon zero trail. Shouldnt support it. Support local farmers then you know where its from
@@DanniandJoeare they finally clamping down on the squatters.
Raw milk wtf isnt that dangerous?
@@DAPH1918 well I’m 75 been drinking it for years not done me any harm
Thank you both for your time and efforts to produce your vlog.very enjoyable to watch and interesting.
Keep safe warm and virus free.
Safe journey travels.
Thank you!
Just found you and this video. Very interesting and enjoyable. As others said its simplicity makes it better.
Happy New Year - that was certainly a windy week. Very hard work and not ideal when you’re feeling under par. Hope you were both well by Christmas.
Thank you!
All the best you 2 stay warm .Happy Narrowboating
Thank you!
All the best bits of Hackney are on the Lea, but it's far more lush and lively in summer. Further up you are surrounded by nature reserves, the River Stort, which branches off at Fieldes Lock is amazing in summer with rolling hills, farmland and marshes.
Yeah we both said we’d save it for the summer - it was a good shout as it ended up flooding badly a week after we left!
I lived on the Grand union canal at Hunton Bridge, not far from Watford. I helped run the Kings Head pub there. Later I moved to Teddington on the Thames and often cycled into central London. The waterway are a great way to travel no cars or busses. . 👍👍
loved this one guys and seeing you go through all the joys of london boating 😅 definitely don’t think we miss it!
You should’ve gone on the wall at limehouse basin, it’s free for 24 hours! our fav spot.
yaaay look forward to seeing you on the grand union! 🎉❤️
Aw we didn’t realise that! We thought it was all private/for boats going out in the morning on the Thames. Were looking forward to a slower pace for the foreseeable 😍
Happy new year you beautiful people......and keep warm! X
Thanks so much!
Thank you for the video and the honest look at living aboard a narrowboat, Hope your feeling better.
Thank you! Yes we’re feeling much better thankfully!
Happy new year to u both. Safe travels especially in all the floods right now. Best wishes ❤
Happy new year!
Thanks again, another great vlog. Stay safe n warm, can’t wait for your next escapades❤
Thank you! You too!
Your nearly at 20k guys. Another great video. Wahoo so relaxing to watch you both enjoying your time on your beautiful narrow boat. ❤❤
Thank you so much!
Hope you both had a good Christmas and New Year. Your chicken schnitzel looked lovely. Very apt as we're in Austria 🇦🇹. Hope you're OK after all the flooding 😢😢
Ahh lovely! We visited Salzburg once briefly would love to explore more. Thank you!
Oh my, it's all a bit different to the K&A on a lazy summer's afternoon, isn't it? All credit to you both for staying so calm when things goes wrong (or, alternatively, for editing those bits out so cleverly!)
😂😂 definitely different!
Belated happy holidays to you and your family from your friends across the pond. Looking forward to seeing what the new year brings to you kids 😊
Thank you so much! Same back at ya!
Subscribed and all I can say guys is that you will love the Midlands!
Hi Danni & Joe watched you from the start you amaze me how hard you both work.Good luck on whatever you do next.will be watching
Lots of love ❤❤
Thanks appreciate it!
Oh dear a touch of manflu but you soldiered on ! Great video. I was hoping you were headed up the river lea navigation I was brought up just by Pickett's Lock (Alfie's lock) in the late 50's early 60's while my dad was an engineer building Deephams sewage works there. I go back for a look around every few years when in the area it would have been good to see from the canal perspective. Your tour.of east london was fantastic and very much enjoyed the dinnertimes, cooking and toddy (might have been on the other vid) but great to have a double helping this week!
Yeah we’d love to visit the Lee but just as well we didn’t as we missed this bad floods over there luckily. We’d like to do it one summer to do it justice!
I worked on the canary wharf tower during construction around the beginning of 1991. Not my favourite job. Didn’t like the trip up the outside in the hoist and I was only going as far as the 21st floor…
Happy New year! Enjoying your journey's, I just would like to note with the unpasteurised milk, do do boil it... I had a family member die from drinking unpasteurised milk so its no joke. Good health to the two of you. Ps, the music snipets are spot on
Then again - you're right about gut health. Personally I try to get it from yoghurt, good way to get those bacteria for the gut which sometimes are added after because I assume they are burnt off when boiling the milk.. making yoghurt is quite fun, simpler than you'd think!
Dunno about 12 things to cook in 2024 but I reckon lentils, of any kind are versatile and great. Stews, curries, nut roasts. Whatever really. Red lentils particularly because they cook quicker, so less energy required to cook them. Green lentils also great, and split yellow.
London literally has it all on offer so cool
Hope you are fully recvered soon Joe. Love your videos
Thank you yes feeling better now but I’ve put my back out! 😂😂
Well done Danni and Joe 20k
Thank you!
Just got that nasty bug you were incredibly lucky I am on day three of the doubles..
😢 my poor daughter is 2 days further along. Boat life must be great to beat the bugs ❤❤
You're quite close to where I live , I used to fish the docks at rotherhithe and at Shadwell basin , I've not fished the canals but I do keep up with the canal and river trust. Central London is crazy and really expensive now day's
love your channel you guys doing so well thank you for the london canals........ oohh did I hear you sau your heading towards Uxbright?. I've been near there, was lovley had a flying lessons at an airfield named Denham there many years ago, which is where I met my hubby. see you next week, Happy New Year to you guys.
Yes we’re up by Uxbridge at the minute! Thank you & happy new year!
My favourite clip is Danni's feet trying to open the lock door, en then Joe's feet join the ballet to overcome the challenge! Luvvit!
Team work!
bless you danni cold sores are not nice ou take care x
Thank you!
Nice promotion! You are really selling HF! This is a really good insight into life on the river which in London on our canal network is very hard to do obviously. More so when it’s been minus 7. It’s also the pace and range of subjects covered on this channel that make it so interesting. The tech on the boat is also complicated and tricky to deal with- so that adds complexity. One thing i would say is you both need to protect your lower backs more. There’s loads of twisting, pulling and pushing, all of which over time can pull on muscle groups and result in a sudden over stretching of key tendons. Before you do these sorts of movements - try and warm up and stretch. Pilates would be ideal- look into on-line classes. You only need mats a ball and a band to do it. That will prevent you getting as many injuries- especially on the locks and gates as well as rope pulling. Good luck both of you- some great content and camera work/ sound here.
Happy new year and safe sailing.
Happy new year cheers!
great video guys bet you will be happy to see some nice countryside soon I could not live down there would nt thank you for that London Nah you guys be safe and enjoy I will stick to being moored up on the shropie in cheshire near Nantwich.
Thank you!
Amy and wes loved doing that, you should do it, it seemed to make them see what narrow boating was really about ❤
It looked like a lot of fun!
Another great Video. Poor Danni, I know the air in London alone can give anyone the Squits. If I struggled opening lock gates I'd have to invent some kind of lever plank that uses the wedges on the ground, one of you will pull your back out one day. Safe journey up to the Midlands.
Cheers! Yeah that lever could be a good idea!!
Have you guys thought about using a semi-permanent type camera mount? Noticed the security camera mount and had that thought. It would prevent these expensive disasters. Possibly some sort of quick connect thing.
My heart goes out when these things happen to you guys.
Yeah definitely something we could do. It’s just awkward as we have to keep picking it up to film out surroundings
Don’t worry about the quality of the footage, it’s the quality of the content that matters. Your iPhone is fine.
Thank you appreciate it!
I enjoyed that👍good people🏴.
Thank you!
Great video Joe considering it was your iphone. Hope you’re feeling better Danni. Have great week 😊
Thank you! You too!
There's a lot of the sickness bug about and this flu that's going around. Is really hitting hard I hope you feel better soon.
Yeah seems to be everywhere!
Ay up you two, just started binging on your videos.Got to say you come across as a great couple. Having just watched your London trip, I was wondering if the wrath of Khan and ULEZ has targeted you guys. It can't be long, he's determined to destroy nostalgia and peoples enjoyment at all costs. Happy new year, and let the adventures continue.
They seem to be tackling wood stoves which indirectly really affects boaters as I’d say 90%+ of boats rely on solid fuel stoves for heating. No mention of diesel engines as of yet but watch this space
if you are looking for a new adventure (if you have not already done it) try the River Wey, you can get all the way south past Guildford to Godalming. One for the better weather when the Thames is not in Flood - think you need to buy a separate license for the Wey.
Yeah we’d like to do that one day! We’re heading north towards the midlands first!
Nowthen guys, work your way up North, much better take it from me. This will take some time indeed but Yorkshire/Lancashire on Leeds Liverpool is much more chill.
That was cool at 22:52 you went past Donal McIntyre sitting on the bench i often see him on the canal, yeh mooring prices are crazy in London.
Ah that’s funny!
Fascinating 👍
Thank you!
Love all this❤️👌
Good morning and how are you both after the flooding around the country and on the Thames, looking forward to your next video, stay safe.
Touch wood we managed to dodge the floods whilst we were over in East London, happened about a week after we left. Fortunately on the canal here the levels been pretty normal. The winds been a bit more of an issue really but fingers crossed that’s died down.
Love the vids😊
Thank you!
We had those mugs. Hubby Captain, me Skipper. He rang me one day at work and said you have just been promoted. I said so you've broken my mug! Now I'm Captain 😄
Our favourite comment 😂❤️
Grand union ! Get north of Hemel / Berko and it's great loads of awesome countryside and great mooring spots especially past Mk and up into Northamptonshire I'll look out for u hope to meet u guys n buy a u beer 👊 - great channel n good luck
Ah sweet yeah we’re looking foreword to the country side! Yeah keep an eye out as we head north we do love a pub 😂
Pasteurization is all about striking a balance.
Supply healthy food to a mass market with a degree of safety. That's the balance.
Little loss (nutrition) with a massive gain. (Food safety)
Hello Joe & Danni , London seems to be expensive for mooring as its the heart of the city, but its nice to explore areas of london tho. Question is the locks hard to push they look so hard sometimes,
Yeah the locks have been really stiff through London!
30:00 - Tbf I'd probably ask if I could help out with the lock. Always wondered how they work lol
Good video again, keep up the good work you two, 😁👍
Thank you!
Another great video!!
Thanks so much!
I’ve watched y’all for so long, I feel we should be related 😂
Just keep doing what you’re doing. I’m waiting for the house in Italy 🤣
😂😂 thank you! Yeah Italy’s still a dream at the minute!!
Nice! Been watching since around sept last year while I was shopping, finally scored myself a little fixer upper called sardine. Over spent a bit but I sort of moved in in my head and once I’d lived that life in a day dream that was it so 🤷🏼♂️ what are you gonna do. Finalised in early December and spent the Xmas break hauling arse up the Grand union canal/oxford/coventry to the Trent and Mersey in the midlands. Really enjoyed myself but I’m solo and theres a couple of big flights! 13 in one day I think was my record!! Shattered. Anyway I’ll be up here doing the Reno so when you make it up if you come this far I’ll comment again and see if I can shout you lunch, your Reno videos have been nothing short of inspiring so if I can compensate your efforts with food and beer then I’d be delighted. Cheer bo! X
Awesome! Sardine’s a great name too 😂😂 Solo is a different game with locks - fair play! Keep in touch when you see us moving north we’re not shy of a pub!
Love you two! So honest with everything you do. Good luck and safe journey.😊xx
Thank you!!
Make your way upto Leeds Liverpool canal it's lovely 😊
Yeah I’m sure we will at some point!
Happy new year to you both. Love your videos. Have you tried using a cold used tea bag on your cold sore. Just hold it on for upto a minute and it helps heal it quicker I find
I use Gengigel. My dentist told me about it and it helps dry and disinfect the skin.
Ooo thank you, will remember that for next time!
Good handling in those windy locks. As a sailor my favourite expression is: Every boat is a sail boat but the power boats don't know it ;-) I gather that most narrow (long) boats do not have bow thrusters(?)
On Jan 7, in hindsight, the UK , and you two, have had atrocious weather the past few weeks.
😂😂 yeah definitely been a sailboat recently! Some newer boats do but in general not many do have thrusters
My childhood was spent in Victoria Park not in a boat in a high rise block..take care x
Thank you!
Very nice 👍 hopefully you had your lens fixed, 👍👍👍👍it’s will be starting to get warmer soon 👍👍👍👍👍
Thank you!
One Canada Square is where I work. I’d love to have seen you guys coming through east London but I’m working at home mostly at the moment.
Awesome we loved it around the docklands!
Hi. Funny question...what make is your coffee machine. I love the colour and it looks so easy to use. You're vlogs are great.
It’s made by swan, it’s great to get used to making coffee’s a bit more manually amzn.to/3SnV8mk - thank you!
Yep... that morning sickness will get ya 😆. Happy new year guys.
Absolutely not haha 😂
🤣🤣🤣
A few things struck me this week. There are so many waterways - not just in London, but everywhere. There are so many boats, all shapes and sizes. I also feel like I know you two, though we've never met. I hope I see you along some towpath somehwere, some day.
Yes so many waterways! Can’t wait to head north now. Yeah a lot of people say that, I guess we do share quite a bit of our lives so it’s bound to happen! I’m sure we will one day
Look forward to seeing you on the River Lee in the summer up near Hertford
Aw we’d love to go on the River Lee, we will see ☺️
Those life boats Paint YELLOW
Make look like Yellow Submarine !
We all live in a yellow Submarine song😊😊😊😊😊
If you cant shut the bottom gate, open a bit of paddle on the top, then the flow will help you, then shut the paddle.
Yeah we’ve used that trick in the past!
Did you say that you only use the inverter for the cooker ignition? I think even an idle inverter is a draw on the batteries. Just use a match or lighter for the cooker?
We tend to leave the inverter off if not in use, we use it for the washing machine etc but yeah we just flick it on to turn the oven off rather than getting on our knees - a bit lazy really 😂😂
nice vlog, subbed
Thank you!
Great episode ... Love your travels and shenanigans (and the coffee slow mos in the summer when the batteries are charged 😂).
Homogenised is mixed with lots of other milk. Usually people pronounce it by running the homo into the g. A bit like we say mog.
The chancellor is in charge of our budget (what the government spends on and what taxes are raised).
Thanks for that!
1st Time watching 1 of your video's. Very impressed with camera work/Driving your narrowboat. How much did it cost to buy!? How much is maintenance!? Does mooring cost!? I look forward to your replies. Take care.
Just a thought on the unpasteurised milk the states in America that allow the sale of unpasteurised milk have the highest incidences of Campylobacter infections be wary . Just saying as had got it myself after drinking raw milk .
I wouldn't drink unpasteurized milk. Tb is a problem in the UK right now, especially in the south and I believe you can get it through milk
Unpasteurised all the way yum yum.
@@cailinhall8609 it's certainly tasty but approx 8% of the UK herds have tb, most of which are in the south, iss too high of a risk imo. Especially when tb is one of the deadliest deseases.
Happy new year
Happy new year!

Love Asian food! Thank you!
Omg I had that tummy bug too so sorry
Seems to be everywhere!
Well done on nearly 20k. I have a channel (heatinggeek) which is about the same. I know how. Much hard work it is. If you do come down the Lea and want the gas checked or a BSS I should be able to help. Just waiting on the BSS for approval from my exams finished 4months ago.... Any way congratulations keep up the great work. 👍
Ah awesome! I’ve considered doing the course before. We’re heading north up the GU but will give you a shout if/when we tackle the lee!
@@DanniandJoe No worries. Keep up the great work. Also isn't your brother a Gas engineer too? Maybe he's seen my videos?
My wife's aunty and uncle own a dairy farm and they get theirs straight from the cow and it's done them and their family no harm 👍
Amazing! So fresh ☺️
The alternative to a boat as challenging as it is at times is a 25 year hire purchase house which is a mortgage or rent.
We go to work to pay massive living expenses so we should also put some work into reducing our living expenses on a boat. Just saying ❤😊to those who couldn't possible empty an elsan toilet 😅❤
I love boating and yes it does have its challenging times but its not paying £400000 for a £200000 house from a net wage. ❤
Nice people nice video ❤
I used to work for an economic historian (Robert Fogel, Nobel Prize 1993). One of the things I remember from that time was a discussion about the 1850’s swill milk scandal in New York City. Swill milk was produced by miasmic cows fed left over mash from whiskey distilleries. Many infants died from being fed this milk. One result was that that all milk had to be pasteurized. It wasn’t really necessary, however, as long as the milk wasn’t adulterated.
That’s interesting. You can see where people’s fears of unpasteurised milk come from long after the issue that caused it to be necessary!
Lady Pennybun is looking so cosy.
Thank you!
That toast looked nice.
Cheers!
Buy some lysine and take for a few days as soon as you feel a cold sore coming out, it will help clear the cold sore quicker!
Thanks for the tip!
Thanks
Thank you so much!
Narrowboats are so much more expensive than renting a normal flat, it sucks, you seriously have to love the activity itself to want to do it. It's a shame, because I would love more canals in London even as a landlubber.
Chicken & Chorizo Paella with mussels and large Prawns. I use the Hairy Bikers mums recipe but would like to see your twist on it. Either way it’s a cracking recipe. You can get small 2 person Paella pans with a lid from Go out doors. Enjoy. 👍🏼
Actually had chicken & chorizo paella at a friends house on the weekend - really good. We’ll check out the HB’s recipe though!
@@DanniandJoe it’s dead easy, I’m famous amongst my friends for the dish. Or so they tell me 🤣🤣👍🏼😎
Believe me raw milk can be very dangerous!
Great way to get tuberculosis.
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 What a bollocks. I bet u r vaccinated 😂😂😂😂😂😂 take another booster, u will feel better 😂😂😂😂😂
The laws about raw milk in the US vary by state. Here in Texas it's only legal to buy it direct from a dairy.
In Washington State we can buy raw milk at grocery stores and health food stores.
Interesting how different each state is!
EW! this is how you end up on a polluted contaminated lake, inside an old tub. how do you wash well..
How’s the charging set up Joe? Are you getting the amperage now? Anymore belt slippage?
We’re still running off the 30a DC/DC charger when the engines running. It’s keeping it topped up on longer cruises - but we have also finally invested in an inverter. I’ll cover it in a video but I managed to find a setting on the inverter/charger to not trip these suitcase generators
The woes of the middle class, oh dear such a hard life ,😊
I haven’t looked into it, but are there guarantees that the cows that are supplying raw milk are inoculated against tuberculosis? The main reason that milk started to be pasteurised in the last century was due to people catching tuberculosis from cows milk. Tuberculosis was a major cause of death.
It’s from a local family run farm, I guess there’s always risk associated with it but I trust this milk
@@DanniandJoe, the farmer himself may trust it. But bovine tuberculosis is becoming increasingly prevalent in this country (way more than the general public can imagine). The fact that a farm didn't have any positive animals last year doesn't mean they won't have any on the next test.
Drinking raw milk would be a sad, stupid and completely avoidable way of getting TB on the 21st Century. Treatment is not too effective, by the way. That's why when a farmer also has infected cats or dogs (from giving them raw milk) they are told to put them to sleep.
You can get raw milk in the States but you have to go to a health food store to get it and it is a pretty penny.
Yes we can imagine!
Since when did you paint the boat black? When did I miss this 😂 it looks great though 👌🏼 x
We haven’t painted it just think it’s the light reflecting looks darker ☺️
more details on hello fresh
Can I ask where you got the back doors made we need new doors and we love yours love the videos keep it up 😁😁😁
Aw it was a neighbour! He’s retired really but he made them for us ❤️
