That whole album was just great! Has some of the best feel and best memories of my life!
This song is very sentimental to me. Craig, I met you (with Little Feat) at a record convention in LA in the 90's. When you guys were signing a picture I had, I said, Can you put to Amie -Like the song from Pure Prairie League? And one of the guys said "he's the one that wrote that" I didn't even realize it was you. What a hoot!
i dont have a thing against Vince Gill but nobody can do this song but this man right here!
Craig Fuller is not only a great picker but one of the best wordsmiths around !
country music is the best...please dont even say anything.....this song is one of the top 50 of all time......you will remember and feel country forever. pop
Always been a craig fuller fan! PPL, american flyer, Lil' feat, Katz/Fuller- one of my fav vocalist!
Craig is doing what everyone on this planet fantasizes about, to sing this song at karaoke.
I don't really care who played when , but he still has the pickin' and the vocals down real nice. In my opinion the entire Bustin' Out LP is nothing short of great- a true classic..always will be in my "Top Ten" of all time. Thanks for posting this live version!
Happy Birthday Craig Fuller this is one of the best songs from the 70's a favorite of mine THANK YOU friend!!
When I was at Shepherd College in 1979-1981 every band, that came to play in the bowl near Kenamond Hall, had to know this song. This was the college anthem. Man it brings back memories
And it was in every dorm room, or at least on every floor of every dorm.
The only PPL songs/albums I have are the one's where you Craig Fuller, are singing. Had 2 of PPL albums in the early seventies. I also love your voice!!
Such a great song and Fuller's voice just seems to get better with age.
Saw PPL in Kansas City in 1981, the greatest time for claSsic rock!
I love your voice. I particularly love your vibrato. You touch my heart.
So, I wandered on to this site. Loved the song back in the 70's and in fact, my daughter is named after the song.
My daughter too Fred!!
Still one of my most favorites!!
Go back and get the ending!! : ). Great post glad to see Fuller still has it.
@JamieMoyerMusic Fortunate for you, you got to see them in person. I remember the spring of 1975 when "Amie" was played on the radio. It still is, and brings back fond memories as a kid of 14, the crush I had, and the eighth grade. So long ago, 35 years. Seemed like yesterday!
Amazing
Such a beautiful voice
🥀Beautiful Song amazing lyrics, vocals and music with meaning of unconditional love within🥀☝️
Просто шикарно!Обожаю вашу музыку!
yes they do!! thanks!
Love them. Almost forgot about them.
Named my daughter Amy after this song!!! Just love it!!
They've still got it!
This is a great song
OMG Thanks for posting this.
@iceaxe56 Just to clear this up. 'Amie' was recorded for the album 'Bustin' out' in '72, Fuller left the band for a while and had an on again off again membership wtih PPL. Vince gill first recorded with them in'79 and sang Amie live when they performed without Fuller.
just so
A shout out to my home town band. I still love ya! Anyone seen McGrail lately?
Peggi Sue from Cincinnati
wow
You guys crack me up. I have to stir things up a bit here. Vince Gill was the ripe old age of 15 in '72 when Amie was released. I guess his voice hadn't changed yet lol
Here;s a good one
Great stuff, shame it ran out.....
Well that answers that question!
I wish that CRAIG FULLER would have performed this song with LITTLE FEAT during the time he was a member from 1988-93.
Everytime he's sat in with Little Feat since then, he's performed it,
As for the Vince Gill saga...The way I heard it back in my radio days, Vince Gill was a studio musician who played guitar on this record and sang the highest part of the harmonies on both of these songs...If you know Vince's voice and vocal range and you have the "Bustin' Out" album you can definitely hear him.
Nada. It was Mick Ronson of Bowie's Spiders From Mars band who did guitar, string arrangements and some vocals. That's him on acoustic guitar and the high harmonies on Amie.
Pity i didn't see this when it was posted -absolute rubbish, I've had the album since the year it was released-1972, theres no Vince Gill and though Mick Ronson was heavily involved with Bustin' Out , i seriously question whether he did any vocal harmony, but its certainly more possible than Vince Gill who was only 15 ! when the original recording was done.Mick Ronson is credited with string arrangements and 'Rick ' Ronson with background vocals, whether that was some clumsy attempt to disconnect Mick Ronson from too much involvement i have no idea, but i've read an interview with him where the topic of Bustin' Out was raised and he was reluctant to admit to anything more than a loose connection with the whole project. Why i found strange as its a good album, not as good as the 1st but with Amie and Jazzman contained within its grooves its no disgrace! If you listen to the main harmony, {left hand side of the mix ) , i don't think that s Mick's dulcet Humberside ! tone and would suggest its Craig himself doing the part, but then again it could be George Powell , and wasn't Mike Reilly brought into the fold around this time ,so he could be uncredited. Certainly no guitar credit for Ronson and why would they need him in that respect? Its an interesting one re the vocal but it definitely isn't Mr Gill . He brought an end to the era of the hippie band i loved though he may have brought them more success.
@iceaxe56 Vince played with the band but no on the album 'Bustin Out' , he joined in 1978, The first two albums with Craig fuller are quite different from the rest. Nothing to get worried about. Vince is excellent, however he wasn't on the first two albums.
bien
Here's some trivia: "Fallin' In and Out of Love With You," was an unfinished song by George Powell, PPL co-founder. George played it for Craig to get some feedback to finish it and it got mashed up with Amie instead!
great song , craig fuller also did a song called "annabella please listen" if anyone has it , please post it, i'd like to hear it. thanks.
@iceaxe56 Sorry, but you are wrong. Craig Fuller wrote and performed this many years before Vince Gill.
I was working as a bouncer in a place called "New Dilly Pub" in Cincinnati when PPL play their first public gig. They were all from the Cincy area. That's how I got to know them.
@claytonave sorry --i saw ppl in 1974 with vince gill--he had hair to his shoulders and sang amie--so there goes your clearing up
@JamieMoyerMusic they are real people you know
where can i buy a copy of this song with this intro at the beginning? (on cd or download.)
@Bobbyo60 the record i have says vocals--vince gill--so i think i will go with that-who cares
I didn't know that Paul McCartney sang for Pure Prairie League.
My Great uncle helped write this song
No, they hired him and they fired him later on. Four of the original members were from Waverly, Ohio.
749,000 of those hits were folks looking for you bud! they got the other guy by mistake.
I have often wondered who was Amie and who was Caroline. That is my name at it is spelled the same. Just curious. I have tried to find out, but with no luck. In another video he did mention Caroline was there somewhere. The words led me to think maybe Caroline is the daughter and Amie the love interest. Does anyone know?
@ JaimieMoyermusic, haha, I sold some very expensive wine to your 'cousin' a few years back, has exquisite taste in wine....you have exquisite taste in music.
wheres vince gill
Vince gill was the lead on that song and also let me love you tonight--that sounds nothing like the original
@jstnxprsn1 sure you were buddy--they played at my college in 74 with vince gill--maybe you were drugging and confused
@jstnxprsn1 the only writing i see is from you--if you have the albums just check the line up--its that simple.
@iceaxe56 OK, no sense letting things get in the way of facts, eh??
@jstnxprsn1 sorry guy albumsdon't lie--check out vocals on the albums--for those years---maybe you dreamed you were their friends or your dillusional--hey it happens with age.vince gill even does a spot in his concert and talks all about it--and does all the numbers--sorry to bring you back to reality
wasn't Vince Gill in the original group?
no
Vince came in around 1979. PPL had been around since 1972, probably even earlier.
Horrible cut-off @ end, but still one stompin' good version; especially when you consider most people don't even have a voice left later, much less a voice like that!
@jstnxprsn1 i guess vince gill didn't exist--dude get a life--anyone can list a band lineup--check the ppl website
This sucks get lize
Like Vince Gill better
Listen to the whole Album “Bustin Out” then you fall in love with the original Pure Prairie League. It is a great album!!!!
