    Amie was written by Pure Prairie League co-founder Craig Fuller and released on their 2nd album, Bustin' Out in 1972. It became a hit a few years later and is one of the top requested songs here at TG. This lesson goes over the chord progression, strumming patterns, and includes chapters on the Intro Lead, the Main Lead, and the Outro.

    He originally played it on piano for me. He was in J.D. Blackfoot. At the Neil house. Asked if I would like to hear his new song, we went into a ballroom and he played it for me. 1971.

    Neil, Thanks so much for laboring away (once again) & posting this AWESOME lesson! It is duly appreciated...I've always wanted to learn to play this sucker and now I can! (That is besides my hack interpretations of it) Thanks again, - Lueders

    I think its humorous in a way how you tube allows people to blurt their opinions at a whim. The last guy is saying slow down and I am thinking speed the hell up. LOL. As if everyone watching just got back from Guitar Center with their first guitar. I can't watch Marty the Turtle. I think you're a good teacher. Everyone has an opinion. Keep it up!

    @jammingmopar Not sure who Marty is but songs are not the goal. Becoming a musician is the goal. Learning songs or parts of them, along with the foundation behind them, is part of the path.

      Music theory and all that modes and scales and keys is for math brains. I have a non-math brain. I love it when you talk modes!

  • @thomaskulesa4065
    @thomaskulesa4065 7 ปีที่แล้ว

    Please don't confuse people by saying "the mixolydian mode uses one less sharp than the actual key signature." You are in D Major and the actual key signature is and always will be F# and C#. The A Mixolydian scale is a derivative of the D Major scale (Ionian), and has absolutely no theoretical relationship to A Major scale. Just as if you are in A Major all the derivative modes will have 3 sharps.

      The intro is totally different
      It's a segue song.
      It has its own name it's called falling In and Out of Love
      Not all radio stations play it they just start right up with the a5 chord going into Amy.
