The discomfort thing. Like I’m a freshman at college this year and I know NO ONE at my school as I’m 12 hours away from home. But you know what? By pushing myself out of my comfort zone, I have friends. I worked hard during finals and finished with all As. I joined a club. Like you just gotta do it. It know it’s terrifying. I know you’re scared as fuck. But once you take the leap of faith and trust yourself, you will see amazing growth. Like I still get super anxious all the time, but o also have more confidence saying “maybe I actually am good enough” and I think that’s enough for me. I know the process of changing a mindset is so hard because it’s comfortable staying in a destructive mindset. You know what to expect. With change, comes uncertainty. But to live free, you must embrace uncertainty.

@@cherrygadamandla8594 yes rest is important, but you need to discover when you need to rest. If you use rest as an excuse to not push past your limits, changing is going to be something way down the road for you. The whole point of this journey is to really find out how much more you can do. how much more you can achieve. You don't stop when "you can't do it anymore". if that's how somebody's going to think, they need to change their mindset before they change themselves. Is tiredness really how far you can push? UPDATE 15TH APRIL
A message to the viewers so you can better understand me and the delays of this film:
      1. I am a creator who just about a month ago healed my toxic patterns with content creation that began in 2018 when I started the glow up diaries.
Last year I announced that I would release a film as the final piece for the glow up diaries. I loved the idea of a final video telling my full story from start to finish. But I had two battles at that time that I was unaware of.
The first battle was that I could not figure out what the message of this film was. I wrote hundreds of pages and it was just a giant mess. I was so frustrated and didn't know why I struggled to see what the message of my film was. I now see that I was not ready to tell my story at that time because I had not discovered many of the solutions to my problems yet. It was like I had only lived through 70% of my story. In order for my story to make sense - I had to have answers and those answers were in the last 25% of my story.
The second battle was my toxic relationship with content creation. I was feeling pressure from viewers and others to release this so I'd give a date. And I'd tell myself that I would somehow make it work and release the film. I thought somehow external pressure would help but it did not. It backfired and only made activated my old toxic pattern of avoidance.
I'm not going to get into the details of this
toxic relationship and why it held me back so much. But what you should know is that I have experienced massive healing with being a TH-camr. Making videos became trauma of it's own for me and it's something I had to overcome. I am deeply sorry for everyone that I have let down. I am sorry that my toxic patterns affected you guys in negative way. Remember the glow up diaries isn't a tv show.
It's my real life and it's a amateur 22 year old girl producing this whole thing. I had no idea going into this how I'd end up on a toxic glow up journey and then having to become aware of my toxic ways, heal from that and then understand my healing so clearly that i can make a film that connects all the broken pieces scattered throughout these last 5 years
      I will end with this
      1. I am excited to discover my potential as a content creator and what more I can create
and upload in a timely manner now that I have healed
      2. Current status update: I am almost halfway through with the film
      3. The film won't be 20minutes long. The reason why I considered 20min was because someone whose option I value pointed out a short attention span of people however then I decided that 20min was too short.
      It will be 25-30min
Lastly thanks for those who have left comments this past year. It has played a big role in my healing process.
Thank u for the few people who still care about Glow up diares. I've been told by many people online and in my life how I'm irrelevant at this point cuz I haven't posted in 2 years
Ik that but relevancy was never my goal.
My goal was always impact and it comes through high quality content.
I'm glad I waited cuz now I can release a film with answers i believe can change some lives.

THANK YOU, someone finally said this. Yes it's good to step out of your comfort zone and grow, and most people really need to do that more, BUT if your body is saying no, then no. If you need an occasional break then take it. It is toxic to call that a weakness and beat yourself up for it. Constantly being in pain and in discomfort is not healthy, and not sustainable for most out there, especially long term (which is what we should be striving for, long term healthy lifestyle). The part you should work on is not being outside of your comfort zone purely, it's finding a good balance between being in and out of it.

There was no glow up. The purpose of this series was not help or inspire people. She did all these just to EARN MONEY. JUST that. Yes it should be on Netflix because it's all acting 🥱. Relatable queen my f o o t. It was just a sad soap opera. Every episode was negative and destructive. It didn't teach anything. It was just "The Struggle Diaries" NOT the "Glow the f up" diaries. I really wish people could understand that this isn't a step by step guide, it's literally a diary. What worked and didn't work for her, on a delay of over a year! She isn't telling people to go out and train with a celebrity trainer, she is sharing an experience she was lucky to receive. Was she just supposed to leave that part out and let everyone believe that her results came from false sources? Why is her journey suddenly invalid because she is in a place of privilege, which she has never kept secret?
You all were complaining last episode about how the glow up diaries has become just about food but this episode hardly mentioned food or really weight loss at all, and now everyone is mad that she's not addressing all the upset last week, even though it's very likely that these are edited and scheduled in a way that doesn't allow for last minute changes or additions. Not to mention that, whether you like or agree with what she said, she did post a separate video addressing last week so what else was she supposed to do?
I'm not saying that her relationship with food isn't concerning, but while she gives tips and advice based on what does and doesn't work for her never does she say that this is a step by step guide for people to follow and duplicate. She's still very young and when you have such a rough relationship with food like alivia (and I personally do think she struggles with an ed, but I'm not her or her doctor so it's not my place to say with any certainty) you tend to latch on to any kind of program or lifestyle that makes you feel less out of control. She mentioned talking to a specialist in her apology (I think in the video but it may have been the community post?) So I'm hoping that she is getting help from a professional.
Really I just want to know why her struggle is only inspiring when it fits the soft and fluffy narrative of learning to love yourself, but when she shows the very real process, which is not fluffy or soft, and includes a lot of self hatred, misinformation that we've all been fed at one point, and slipping up, suddenly she's a dangerous threat to any children and ed sufferers who may watch her content to trigger themselves (Noah fence but if im gonna trigger myself I'm gonna watch a mukbang compilation or anything from TLC).
You can't praise her for being real and raw with showing her full journey but then get upset and angry when her life doesn't go the way you want it to, as quickly as you want it to. If you want a cut and dry, clearly faked glow up, go watch any of the hundreds that are out there acting like lemon water and waking up at 5am was all it took to completely change their lives and it was the easiest thing in the world. Because clearly the novelty of her realism has worn off for a lot of you.

I commented this on another comment but as a Fan since 2019 heres basically what happened:
I think she really didn't gain any weight, but I think that the movie won't be released till 2023. Yes, I don't know Alivia personally, but I remember that the glow up diaries season two should've been released in October '20 (her words) but got postponed and postponed over and over again. I can understand that it takes time to edit and that she's also kinda doing it for free or more, that we can watch it for free, but she always teases the stuff but then never release. It's kinda like a ''here's a nice thing, but wait you'll see it on Feb 31st (a date that doesn't exist)
It's not even hate, just facts. I really like her editing style and I really like her personality, but she's a big procrastinator. Maybe also the hate of the postponement of the GUD 2 made her like this, but I remember that when the season was out she first said ,,It took so long because of editing.'' and at the end she didn't edited all episodes (she said that this was the reason of the postponement, so that she can release all in one) Also she kinda seems to be very much of a procrastinator that can't concentrate on one thing because she's always talking about other stuff.
Then people didn't like the season, so she started all over some months later and ended up deleting it. (I don't blame her, I wanna tell you what happened) so that's why she basically hasn't uploaded anything within this year, because she just deleted all vids.
And as I said she's rn working on the glow up diaries podcast, which I personally really like but shes often like ''About this I'll talk in the movie..'' etc. She even said that the movie could come out in May (not a real announcement, more like a ''Y'all thats kinda when it'll come out.'' but I think it won't be out this year !
She's also planning on the dating diaries, where people on twitter went crazy when she said that she's working on that, but she ended up deleting the tweet.
I think I'm kinda torn into two pieces. On one side I love her videos but on the other side the 24/7 postponing stuff and never releasing makes me go nuts...

I've always been scared of what other people think of me, my image: socially, physically and mentally. But I'm sick of being stuck in this miserable cycle of 'I shouldn't do this thing because what will others think of me' or worse 'I'm expected to do this thing because society tells me I should'. I'm done with pleasing others. The only path to true happiness is if I feel happy with my own actions, my own thoughts and I STOP pandering to others. And these are all within my control!
This is what I needed going into February Alivia, I'm so grateful for you and your videos, they resonate with me so much!

Just remember, whenever you feel like worrying about what others think of you, that you are in control of your reaction to what they think of you. So if they think negative thoughts towards you, or talk down to you, you can’t control what they think or say. But you can control how you react to what they are thinking/saying about you.
I love to look at them with compassion, give them a big smile, and remember that they are human too. Even the ones who judge others make mistakes of their own, and feel self conscious sometimes.

I have sense started working out, with a better mind set and goal, it’s only day 3 sure but I’ve never felt more motivated. While it’s important to push yourself to build discipline, you have to listen to your body during fitness otherwise you will end up with an injury. I started running and with this same mindset ended up messing my foot up so bad I now can’t run for 3 months and have $400 of physio bills. It’s not so bad because I’m in Canada, but I can only imagine how expensive X-rays, physio, and medication would be if I lived in the US. Just be careful and if something hurts it’s better to stop and continue another day.

Yeah, I feel like she’s really encouraging people to ignore their body. It’s not bad to stop, if that is what your body is telling you, because it’s on your side most of the time. When she ran up the hill and was so tired and then did it again, I was so worried.

    • @Cruithear
      @Cruithear 3 ปีที่แล้ว +10

@@gcool6707 Exactly. Pushing your limits is good, and I like the "push past your 40%" mentality. But pushing yourself until you puke or are in pain (and not just sore) can be harmful. "Pain is just weakness leaving your body" ... no, that's discomfort. Pain, actual pain, is a warning. To quote an article:
"'Nausea is a warning sign,' says Anthony Wall, director of professional education at the American Council on Exercise. 'There are a few things that can cause nausea during a workout. One is a full stomach, which isn’t much of a cause for worry. Another is dehydration, when an imbalance of the body’s electrolytes can cause vomiting. [...] The risk for vomiting from extreme exercise, specifically, comes from working so intensely that the body can’t get enough oxygen to fuel its muscles, leading to a build-up of the waste product lactate. [...] Nausea can also, in rarer cases, be a symptom of rhabdomyolysis-in which damaged muscles break down, and their protein enters the bloodstream."
So if the goal is to be healthy, then doing something that potentially damages your body isn't something to wear like a badge of pride. And to quote a different article, "No one wants to walk through (or smell) your rancid vomit." That being said, I'm all for healthy ways of pushing our limits.

For those who need this: Discomfort isn't ALWAYS a method of growth. If your friends, SO, or anything close to you make you feel uncomfortable that is not okay. That isn't a method of growth. That is a crappy support circle. If you're in constant pain after working out or eating stuff, remember to check if it's your form causing the pain (or maybe an allergy if it's food based).
Doing thinks you find hard can help you grow as a person, but there is absolutely nothing wrong with having a comfort zone and making people respect it. Maybe the hard thing is to stop saying it's 'okay' when it isn't.

The gym changed me and together with a therapist I could realize how much I was setting myself back in life. I want so many things, and for the first time, I can actually go out there to do them. Recognize the patterns that are setting yourself back.

I was a super sensitive kid growing up as well and didn’t participate in sports or anything physical. Always weak and meek. When I got to college I started running and lifting and those made me more confident in other aspects of my life as well. Exercise does wonders for the mind. :)

@@geilmerana4837 absolutely! I started working out my last year of high school so I went into university with a new mindset and newly gained confidence. We owe it to ourself to live life to the fullest. Okay, a pandemic is making that a bit harder, but taking down all the mental barriers is so freeing!

Don’t go out because I don’t think I deserve it etc . I hope these videos help me learn how to better myself physically and mentally :)
