It's a great documentary, however I take exception to you saying it's a Southern thing. TRUST ME, it's everywhere. Almost every skilled kid is paid to play whichever sport they're good at in college. Even down to a Jr. College level. The amounts is all that changes.
I’m from the uk, I enjoy the NCAA even though I’ve always been against it. But now with them talking about getting the FBI to investigate the players infractions... Jesus Christ you Americans are nuts lol. At the end of the day, Messi and several of the worlds best talents in soccer can get pro contracts from 13 years old that kick in when they turn 17. MESSI ISN’T MESSI BECAUSE A UNIVERSITY FORCED HIM TO LEARN CHEMISTRY1
Not every athlete is messi though. I only think players should go to college for like two year to at least start on an education as a back up once the playing career is over.
Every time I see stories like this, I'm reminded of a conversation I had about pro sports vs collegiate sports: my friend said he never watches pro sports because the pros are "only motivated by money" but college athletes "do it for the love of the sport." Back then, my main rebuttal was "where do you think pro players come from? They spring from an ether of greed and money as fully formed men ready to play sports?" and corruption and bribery was a minor point I made. But if I were to have same conversation today with what I know now, the ridiculous assumption that pros don't care about the sport and college players don't care about money would be secondary and the corruption would be my main point.
It's a dope rendition, but isn't it ironic that in a video about black athletes being exploited by an unjust system they use an African spiritual song written by black slaves but performed by white music artists (The Rigs) who are using those lyrics for their own profit?
2014, it's Jameis Winston. 2015, it's Laremy Tunsil. 2016, it's Gareon Conley. And I'm more than certain that this has happened over...and over...and over....again. Big Time props to SB Nation.
SWERVE I’m not a dolphins fan and honestly could be totally wrong, but I believed he played guard year 1 and hen tried his natural this past year and was very inconsistent. I see him as a Devante Parker sort of consistency who both ironically play in Miami
Onion Man something about this video and those top 3 Ole Miss players under performing at the NFL level suggests that they all did it for the money, but not only for themselves, but for their families. What I'm alluding to is that they probably didn't love the game of football, but they did it because it paid the bills. None of them are pro bowlers despite being drafted in the 1st round. Therefore everything suggests football as a need for many players who come from these backgrounds, who were told they were built to play a sport that if they excelled at, would make them millionaires. The love of the game is not what drives them, it is the love of family in spite of all the things the sport demands. If they were given the choice, they would not have chosen football as a career, but they don't know any better. They become prisoners to the life they were born into, and nobody teaches them how to build a better life but instead they are fed delusions of grandeur that they could play an unforgiving game that might one day take them out of the suffering. If I was poor all my life and my single mom had to feed my little brother and sister as well as pay rent, you better believe I am doing everything to help them. This is why I couldn't blame Laremy Tunsil and others for taking money from bagmen. Does it look shady? Yes, but if my mom can live a better life I would not think twice given the circumstances.
Al3jandr0101 when you look at it mostly black players spend all their money they get then they bust and are broke and out of the league because they spend it on houses cars jewelry and other things instead of saving it but I get it also because most black players grow up in very poor places in the south so they buy things like crazy once they get millions and nobody come at me saying its racist or anything like that I will not read or respond to it
Tennessee has been getting all the recruits lately for the 2021 class out of nowhere. Kinda suspicious now just like the 2013 ole miss recruiting class

The production of this video really gives me goosebumps
This is by far one of the best SB nation episodes I've seen
Holy crap the quality of this video is amazing, almost unfair for the amount of views it is going to get. SPREAD THE WORD ABOUT SB NATION
It's a great documentary, however I take exception to you saying it's a Southern thing. TRUST ME, it's everywhere. Almost every skilled kid is paid to play whichever sport they're good at in college. Even down to a Jr. College level. The amounts is all that changes.
jr college? I saw certain kids getting "tips" & "whips" from alumni way back in HS....it happens
@Sleuth comparatively compared to size of say it does
Greatly produced; I hate sports docs but this one was AMAZING.
Great job.
Holy cow this production quality is immaculate
Why was this in my recommendations but I’m glad it Was!!!
Tunsil has earned over 10 mil in the NFL in his first three seasons
Ronnie Stanley has made 17.2 million, he was picked 6th overall. That’s where Tunsil most likely would’ve got picked, that video lost him millions
He wiping his tears with 100 dollar bills
Damn didn’t know u guys were professional like dis lol
Dey rly be like dis
can I say: very well produced, shot, and edited. Great job guys.
The intro song is "Wade In The Water" by The Rigs, if anyone was curious.
It's a dope rendition, but isn't it ironic that in a video about black athletes being exploited by an unjust system they use an African spiritual song written by black slaves but performed by white music artists (The Rigs) who are using those lyrics for their own profit?
Been searching for this remix forever god bless you Shah Mir
“If you’re asking me if Laremy Tunsil recieved benefits to go to Ole Miss, my assumption is probably” wow... jaw dropping development
In case anyone is wondering, that's "Wade in the Water" by The Rigs
This should have millions of views and subs. You're channel is amazing
Audio match at 17:39 -- I see you, editor. Incredibly nice work.
Wow! A sports documentary that was actually informative!!
Damn this is way too good to not be on Netflix
Why are there so many Jadakiss looking dudes in one place 😭😭
Raisin Bran 😂😂😂😂
Yoooo!
Raisin Bran haha
Please don't insult those guys like that , because jadakiss is a dirtbag . and the same applies to most modern day rappers .
@@WISHBONEL7 a lot of generalization and anger dude 😂
This is a great documentary by SB NATION I hope that there is more documentary like this one to come.
2014, it's Jameis Winston. 2015, it's Laremy Tunsil. 2016, it's Gareon Conley.
And I'm more than certain that this has happened over...and over...and over....again.
Big Time props to SB Nation.
All those 3 Ole Miss players have struggled in the NFL. Laquan is a bust, Robert has vastly under performed, and Laremy hasn’t lived up to any hype.
I'm hopeful for Laremy. This will be his first year playing his actual position. Dolphins had him playing guard when they drafted him
SWERVE I’m not a dolphins fan and honestly could be totally wrong, but I believed he played guard year 1 and hen tried his natural this past year and was very inconsistent. I see him as a Devante Parker sort of consistency who both ironically play in Miami
Laremy has been fine
Kinda suspicious now just like the 2013 ole miss recruiting class
william sesler 😂😂😂😂
Lol no they haven't.
👀👀👀👀👀👀👀👀👀👀👀👀👀 yooooooooooooo
DAAAMMMN nice call bro
are you Nostradamus
I remember when Tunsil was dropping I was screaming for the Giants to take him. The ended up with Eli Apple. Oh, what could have been 😓😓
You guys make a lot better documentaries than ESPN. Way more raw, genuine, and un-cut. ESPN is in bed with ncaa and they would not snitch on themselves and the broken system they so vigorously promote.
Everyone: This is top notch quality!
Me: 3:47 "High Shool"
One of the best TH-cam videos I’ve ever seen
This is Jon Bois levels of good.
This is a damn tv show now
I really did not expect to hear the "Is It a Good Idea to Microwave This?" theme song in the middle of a hard hitting sports journalism exposé, but I have to thank Secret Base for making it happen
God damn, This channel makes some outstanding content.
