Hey there - I hope Day 3 is giving you some guidance when switching to the G Chord. The PDF is now live - link in description. What other chords do you struggle with switching to? - Kevin
I have been playing for 4 months now, a total beginner! Out of all the utube instructors I’ve followed, you have helped me the most. You have great tips, really like/appreciate the chord change tips. Thank you😊.
Totally agree, Joan. I picked up the instrument for the first time on November 1, and enjoy every day more and more as I really progress with Kevin's wonderful instruction. I look forward to each one too.
I have a friend that is guiding me along and he had me practice a few things that got me very comfortable with Em G and C but you introduced the D chord to me which I appreciate!
I jumped into day 3 without day 1vor 2 and boy my pinky knows it! :) This has been such a helpful video because I needed your permission to use other fingers for chord switches. I tend to be black and white about things. Thanks for your instruction, its helping!
I am loving your lessons! I look forward to each one. I am a slow learner though and can't play or switch chords smoothly or quickly. I practice daily. My mind and fingers just don't communicate sometimes! lol I get frustrated with myself, but I'm not giving up! You give me hope!
This lesson is a life saver! I have this song that I'm working on that has a really fast switch from Em to G so I'll definitely use your little trick, thanks! And I'm also a pianist so the start of the lesson really reminded me of my piano warm ups- great for buliging technique and confidence in fingers.
Thanks so much Monika :) If you're looking for more learning resources including practice tracks, song sheets and exercises, drop by my site and have a look. I think you'll dig it :) - Kevin | allforuke.com/memberships
Thanks for your video and the tips. I watched a lot of tutorial on you tube and you are completly the best ! Your lessons is amazing ! I am french... Lucky me I can understand your english... Thanks to advise about how to play with the pinky too ... I couldn't use this finger before to watch your tutorial.... If you can send me some more advise about that it will be a pleasure :) . Because I don't have a lot of dexterity with my pinky....
Hi Kevin I find I grip the uke neck with my thumb to keep it in place and that aches after. Lovin this daily practice session working towards singing and playing but its a challenge tonic sol fa very helpful.
😊 I appreciate your kindness. Have you started setting some time away every day to practice/play your uke? All the best to you - Kevin | www.allforuke.com/lessons (Practice Tracks + Series Worksheets)
You’re welcome! If you’re looking for more learning materials to accompany this video (worksheet pdfs, practice jam tracks) check out my new site www.allforuke.com/lessons - all the best on your journey! - Kevin
HI Kevin I really like the way you teach...I keep practicing everyday. Not sure if I'm holding my uke right...when pluck I can hold it tight but when I strum I seam to loose the grip of the uke
I am thoroughly enjoying your tutorials! Your teaching style makes learning the ukulele easy. What do you use to keep the fret board conditioned? And how often do you recommend it? The fret board on my ukulele seems just a little bit dry.
Hi Kev, enjoy your videos. I have done your strumming lessons which are great. My question, how do you determine what strumming pattern to use if you are unfamiliar with the tune?
hy 🙃 i am from Germany and my english is okay , but i am able to Unterstand you realy good . Thx 4 your helpfull lessons . it helps me alot , to improof my ukulele playing 👍🎸
What does worksheet 1/21 mean. Just worksheets for the first two lessons? This was SO helpful---especially that little finger on the Em ! Thank you so much for these.
I love your Ukulele Lessons. I started with the Strumming then went through the Picking lessons. I printed out every .pdf page associated with the lessons. My problem is that I can't find the .pdf printout for the lessons for Play Ukulele Everyday. I hear you comment on the print outs, can you help me find them? Your videos are a great source of enjoyment as we wait out this quarantine. Thank you!!!
Em to G, mind blowing! 😁 Seams obvious, but I was struggling with that for a while now. It would be useful to know how to switch from D to Em. Thank you so much! 😁😁😁
@@AllForUke 1,2,3, just as you showed in the video. For Em I was using 1,2,3 as well, but I started trying out the 2,3,4 version now. Is there a "shortcut" or just tons of practice? 😁 Thanks!
I found this one really hard work. Using my middle finger for the (A string) G chord. I have got so used to using my ring finger and pinky on E. No pain no gain right?
Hi Kevin, really glad I found your videos, it’s helpful for me. I’m wondering when playing the G chord, is it okay that I use my middle finger on the C string and index finger on the A string? Thanks a lot. : )
Kevin, thanks for another great lesson. Quick question on the warm-ups: How come you recommend doing the finger/fret exercises only on the top three strings and never the G string? Seems like that would also increase our reach and dexterity..
Hey there - you can incorporate the G string if you'd like, however with the high G string tuning the exercise will sound a little odd to you. If you have a Low G it works well. Do you play low or high G?
AllForUke 😳🤔 um, I play the one that my Snark tuner says is G. I am embarrassed to say I don’t know the difference. But you are right, it doesn’t sound great.
Luckily, I have never had an issue with the G, but that E took me a long while. It was just so open and would take me a long second to find the strings with the correct fingers. Getting much better at it though, and that pink trick really helped. My big issue now is memorizing which fingering is a minor, a 7, or a major for each cord. I'm like wait... is that G or Gm, or G7? I guess that comes over time.
Hi Kevin, in one of my song I have some difficulty chaining the Bb with the F and also the Bb with the C7 ; could you help me ? Thanks for your wonderful videos
Hi Kevin, Still here and still loving these lessons. I am getting to grips with the G chord, but have a question. - when I come to play it my 2nd fret fingers want to be switched around with my index on the bottom string and middle on the C string. When I come to transition it’s a lot easier than the ‘right’ way. I.e. F to G is simple, G to E minor is add a pinky, D to G has a swivel finger etc. Are we learning the other way because it makes things easier further down the line? Thanks again.
The fingering used in this lesson will benefit you down the road and help you avoid cramping in your hand. The natural resting position of your fretting hand if you tilt towards the headstock will feel more comfortable with this chord fingering. I've seen others try this finger position, and it's not 'wrong' by any means, but I do feel that when you advance and start extending your G chord by adding your pinky into the mix, this position will benefit you more.
Is there any other method to switch from Em to G? I have very small hands (I can't use my pinky and hover my index finger at the same time) and I'm unable to do the method you suggested 🙈
Hey Kevin, still enjoying your courses and there lies my issue. I beganwith the Kickstsrt Course and then after a few days I tried the Play Every Day Course. I appreciate your offering flexibility to a wide range of learners but do you have a recommended order for these courses? I definitely found more than one course too much information for me to absorb at one time and although I started on Kickstart (because I needed a kick) so many of the exercises on Every Day are invaluable to keeping me practicing and playing.
I asked for that same thing. A suggested progression through the lessons would be most helpful. I feel like I am jumping here and there without any real plan. Thanks Kevin, loving being part of the ALL FOR UKE family
When you said we may need to use our pinky finger I was like nahhh I'm good 💀, but when I played along and tried Em to G like you taught, it's actually not that bad lol, in the end I need to use all my fingers anyway oof 🤠🤝🏼
I'm so happy my calluses are starting to appear, but my hand and wrist keep getting stiff and ache after a while even when I warm up and stretch, I guess I'm holding the uke wrong :(
Hey there - I hope Day 3 is giving you some guidance when switching to the G Chord. The PDF is now live - link in description. What other chords do you struggle with switching to? - Kevin
The E chord is worse than G! Been playing around with it, but not ready to incorporate it in anything yet. Not for a loooooooong time lol
@@pilgrimmkOh yeah, the E chord is probably the hardest I've tried...
I find F TO G difficult
Wow, that Em to G transition! Mind. Blown!! Thank you so much for this!

Em to G transition; brilliant! Thanks. Now time to practice a million times 😂
Your approach is very relaxed and well paced for new players. Thank you!

YES!! Loved this lesson, the hydrangeas in the garden (I'm a florist!) and the bird feeder. Cool, calm and collected.
I am so grateful! I’ve been struggling with this so much your channel is incredible! Also that trick with em is so good 🙌🏾
Thanks Kevin, that was great, changing to G is my nemesis! We say YOUkele in Australia too!!

Thank you Kevin, great lesson, I keep thinking I am not moving forward but I am sure it will all come together in a wonderful way. Exciting !
THIS WAS SO HELPFUL!!!!!!! Thank you for these tips!
Thank you so much! That was so helpful! I’ve struggled with the transitions to the G chord. This really helped!
Wow thanks for the Em to G move. It was an eye opener. I was struggling with Em to F. And this made it so much easier. Thanks a ton! 🤗🤗
Hi from Aus.....what a fantastic tute.....you make it so possible and also encourage to look at other cord changes in a new light...thank you so much.
Love your lessons! Your the Best! Im getting better and better and that is because of your play alongs.

Kevin thank you love your lessons. My challenge is going to the Em from Am or from any chord to Em. Any tips you have would b very helpful

Em --> G = genius!
I'm from Rockford and was playing my dads youkelele in 1950. it was a youkelele then and at 74, I'm too old to change now. LOLOL

Hey, Kevin. My question is how do you determine the strumming pattern to a song. My brother can do it, but I just don't feel it. xD
What does worksheet 1/21 mean. Just worksheets for the first two lessons? This was SO helpful---especially that little finger on the Em ! Thank you so much for these.
I think 1/21 is the date. I think it takes him a bit to upload the PDFs after his video posts. They are SO helpful in between lessons!
Refresh your browser and try again. The worksheet is live now.
