Thanks for doing this vid! Whatever you do, DO NOT stop recording the whole process! Others usually cut to the next step of the process so that the video is an acceptable length to viewers with short attention spans. So many want the quick and easy in the new on-demand generation. They don't understand that things take time to create. Refinishing (or in this case upholstering) a door panel (or any part of a car) isn't a quick process and you should be aware of that. So many project cars have gone incomplete with wasted money because the owner was neglectful of the time and cost involved. I think you did a great job in being clear, thorough and efficient in the videos. Hopefully, you're videos will still be up when I get to do my next project car. I'll definitely use your helpful tips! This is a great instructional resource! Thanks!
Fantastic video. Watching you fit and re-fit and adjust gets a bit tedious but it's really worth it. It really shows what to look for and how to get professional results. Thanks for the videos.
Thanks Jim!! Sorry I know it was a little tedious. I just wanted to show all the steps that it takes to get it just right. I have learned a lot about making videos since I did these. Now I try to speed it up and keep it more interesting for you guys.
Could you provide a part no. or manufacturer no. For the door panel clips you use. Great videos. Really enjoy them and your level of detail. Keep them coming.
and put some subs in it and the door panel goes crazy rattling haha,I'm kidding I'm sure you will put something on the back side for that,i would have to in my truck.ok well time for bed i started watching these videos last night and now its night two, just a video here and there but its 2'20 am,so looking forward to the next video.my truck has electric window and the door handles stay on the metal piece of the door so i would have to come up with something, also, since i want my 95 Z71 to look modern inside,as of now its light grey interior I'm thinking of taking a huge step to black upholstery, yikes!!!! thanks again for making this video dude, the dude that looks like my friend thats dead now, hmmm.
Yes I am. The dash looks like a '53. How does the paid part of the course work?. From your free portions I already figured things I've done wrong so far, and I don't want to waste any more material, so the cost of the remainder five hours would be worth it to me if it's helpful.
Trust me you will learn a ton more in the rest of the door panel series! As soon as you purchase the videos you will be send a personal link to watch the videos online and to download them if you want as well. Let me know if you have any questions. Ill be glad to help.
@@Theluckyneedle , I definitely know about the variance thing. My daily driver is a 1999 Olds Alero accompanied with 2 "hobby" vehicles......1975 Merc Cougar XR-7 and a 1981 Jeep CJ-7. It's surprising to me that I've had problems finding those wire clips for the Cougar's door panels through local auto parts stores. I'm tempted to just use metal sheets to make new panels with quick release fasteners.
Great video. Super informative and enlightening. Thank you. But if you want more exposure and to be more popular I have 1 small suggestion. No one wants to watch 4 straight minutes of sanding. A little sped up wouldn't hurt to hold shorter attention spans. But great video otherwise. Thank you for being so in depth and detailed
@@Theluckyneedle My apologies, I watched more of your videos and meant to come back and delete this comment. You're newer videos are perfect, enough to teach how it's done but not so much as to devalue your educational DVDs

A handheld tile cutter would save you sanding probably cut through that easy
I knew self tappers were the way to go
Can I use thin sheet metal instead of ABS because in my country it's impossible to find it in large sheets only in tubing
Before you fine tune the edges, can you use that first template as a "mirror" for the other door / panel?
You could and sometimes it will work. However You'll be surprised how much variance there can be in these old cars from left to right.

I wish there were a better way to repeatably reattach the panel without using the screws... I hate sending screws through the sheet metal.
Great video.
thanks for the video

Thanks man! Yeah... these were some of my first videos. The newer ones are more to the point and easier to watch.
