I really think that animation should be as mandatory as perspective for art students: 1. It forces you to draw, a LOT (Important). 2. It forces you to draw consistent proportions in different angles. 3. It forces you to simplify your subject. 4. It teaches you composition and motion. Important even for still frames. 5. It will make your illustrations more dynamic. 6. It will make your comics absolutely stunning and more dynamic. 7. It's just fun as hell seeing your doodles move. That's the best part.
for folks like me who are impatient with animation, any form of sequential art will help too. i’ve started doing mini comics to share certain ideas and it’s made me really break down what i prioritize in my art and why.
