Apparently partial and poodeling fursuits were the most popular types of fursuits in the very beginning of furry OC fursuits in the mid to late 80s and it was possibly because of there not being many fursuit makers around at the time and most people not finding fursuits too appealing so they had no real reasons to commission full body suits! That was of course unless the suits were going to be used for a mainstream non furry related purpose like a mascot for a sports team for example! :)
