I think Sparkle Dogs have the potential to be used as a learning curve for young artists to experiment with colour theory until they find something that works for their OCs. I used to draw very colourful OCs when I was younger and overtime as I looked up colour theory and using my favourite fictional characters as my inspiration made me improve my designs.
I Often Perfer To Do Environmental Art With Shades Of Black, Grey, And White. I Don't Know Why, Is It Because I Have Some Deep Understanding Of These Specific Colors, Or Was It That I Was So Used To These Colors In A Past Life Or Something. I Truly Don't Know.
Color scheme and or theory is surprising a ton more important than given credit for. Glad you mentioned this as messing with certain colors can guarantee a more unique fursona and such. For my fursona Fido, I wanted a blue husky but didn’t want to do the white contrast, so I did orange and still love it on looks

The thing is that there are people who want to transform the world so that it is all aesthetic, forcing anyone, and more artists than making closed species increase the cases of people who only make simple fursonas, aesthetic and empty in essence, which only forces you to draw them in a different way. a "nice and cute" shape but nothing more. Even those types of people who pose as "character designers" take advantage to also "want to fix your fursona and give their opinion on it" those same ones are the ones who say the typical phrase "dogs or X animal cannot have those colors so saturated and colorful because they are not found in nature" or do you see that they are all a vintage yellowish tone with faint colors? honestly there are no arguments XD

@KYLE MORROW thanks. I'm not a type of guy that hates other furries because of the species they choose to be and those that do are just allegedly elitist duchess. One of the reasons I love the furry fandom is that you can be who you want to be and not judged just for your interest and your opinions. I thought furries can design there own characters the way they want and you can also change the appearance of your fursona even in scenarios importantly if you want a fursuit of your sparkledog made. And not only sparkledogs are bullied because they are "cringy" but I see some other speices are being judged as such like sadly Dutch Angle Dragons.

Because it dead up reminds me of those old Lisa Frank folders and binders I used to have as a kid - I loved crazy colors then and honestly now realizing that, I feel more accepting of the wild colors. It's oddly comforting in it's familiarity.

I adore sparkle dogs and every unnaturally coloured sona owns my heart, and while I prefer to have more natural or toned down colours for my sonas, Sparkle Dogs are still boss as heck!
I like things that are gentle to the eye my eyes are so sensitive that i get a migraine if i get exposed to "too much light" to the point that I've gotten the ability to see in the dark a bit
I think the resurgence of sparkledogs is different than the ones back then. Nowadays it's usually done tastefully or at least not horribly obnoxious. Most young furs with fursonas tend to not go overboard anymore. So it's, as you said, nostalgic to older furs. But no artist is going to just randomly plaster color everywhere. At least not the modern ones I've seen.
I have a sparkle dog OC called Saturn. She's quite mild compared to most, she's aqua, white, green, purple and pink and has a bunch of piercings and space-themed tattoos. I haven't always liked sparkle dogs, but I've grown to like them over the past few months, especially after making Saturn and discovering elkdragon's suits

As an autistic artist with a bit of a bias towards natural browns and tans with some greens, I personally don't like the look of sparkledogs simply because their designs are typically WAY too busy. So many colors and patterns on one character tends to be too overwhelming for my brain to process, to the point where it could actually strain my eyes and give me a headache if I look at them for too long. Of course, this applies to any character that is drastically oversaturated with patterns and little details (some dino mask fursuits I've seen have way too much going on the face because the young furs who made them went overboard in painting them).
I just recently became a sparkledog owner, I made my sparkledog originally as a meme and for giggles and fun time, But I honestly thing he looks pretty epic. My childhood was all nightcore and rainbow dogs with punky scene hair and legwarmers so that's pretty nostalgic.
Cringe or not, I love sparkledogs, especially How young artists are so happy with them, and imagine how boring it would be if every fursona was "Natural" with boring brown and tan colors

I haven't always liked sparkle dogs, but I've grown to like them over the past few months, especially after making Saturn and discovering elkdragon's suits

As an autistic artist with a bit of a bias towards natural browns and tans with some greens, I personally don't like the look of sparkledogs simply because their designs are typically WAY too busy. So many colors and patterns on one character tends to be too overwhelming for my brain to process, to the point where it could actually strain my eyes and give me a headache if I look at them for too long. Of course, this applies to any character that is drastically oversaturated with patterns and little details (some dino mask fursuits I've seen have way too much going on the face because the young furs who made them went overboard in painting them).
I just recently became a sparkledog owner, I made my sparkledog originally as a meme and for giggles and fun time, But I honestly thing he looks pretty epic. My childhood was all nightcore and rainbow dogs with punky scene hair and legwarmers so that's pretty nostalgic.
Cringe or not, I love sparkledogs, especially How young artists are so happy with them, and imagine how boring it would be if every fursona was "Natural" with boring brown and tan colors
