The first horse that came to mind when I saw this performance was Peintre Celebre, not that Economics is anywhere near his level yet but the power and the way he gallops reminded me of the great horse and to my astonishment, upon checking his pedigree, he's actually a grandson of his! Amazing! 😁
Economics has a real good engine but surely a mile and a half is his trip. Let's hope Haggas doesn't become over protective of the horse and limit opportunities for him to reach his potential and please and amaze his fans.
Was you watching a different race. There is no way that horse was on the pace in fact he only fully started to assert 1 fur out. Think I d watch it again.
I said after the Dante, because of his galloping style he looks like a St Leger horse. But the owners/trainer have entered him for everything but. Obviously difficult to train but huge potential. They cannot geld him because his value could be enormous. Hope he has a successful Autumn
@Kevin You can blame them for not going for the Leger, there's still questions about him getting 12 furlongs and many believe that the Leger is too close to the Arc, which I'm sure they are considering, apart from that, they can always supplement for the Leger if they wish?
@@Thomas-vg8ov usually a burst blood vessell, that doesnt keep a horse out 3 months. This was always the plan, listen to William at York. They put him away for 6 weeks.
Horse has a massive stride. Feels like the owners are going to wrap him in cotton wool though. Hopefully he’ll be able to realise his potential. No way he’ll run in the arc on bad ground.
A horse like Bedtime Story wins at Ascot by 10 lengths starting his run from the front, goes off next time against tough competition at 1/6. Ecconomics wins at York by 6L from the rear and he goes off at Evens? Steal of a price for a very classy horse who's proved a lot already.
@@robertdelacy3434 That's the problem, he could be a nearly horse, I've seen a few who get beyond ten furlongs but just don't really get 12 furlongs, but I do think there's more chance that he will stay 12 furlongs than he won't.

He beat mediocre types on the day, and the evens odds were generous. He should have gone for the Derby. Nobody knows if he's better than City of Troy because his owners are wrapping him in cotton wool. Running him in a mickey mouse race in France instead of a proper race like the Derby
I agree with them not going for the Derby, they withdrew him from the race before he won the Dante because they didn't believe he would handle the course and he bled from the nose after the Dante, that's why they hadn't run him since.
@@Thomas-vg8ov I read horse racing news regularly and this is the first time I heard about Economics bleeding from the nose after the Dante. @@duanedurkan3565 Yeah, that's what I read a while ago just after the race, but they had already pulled him from the Derby a few days before the Dante giving the explanation that they didn't want to be tempted if he won the Dante as they felt they course just wouldn't suit him, I have read today in the Post that they are favouring the Irish Champion next.
@@Thomas-vg8ov Good info. Obviously they could have supplemented him for the Derby but if he bled after the Dante they might have felt it wasn't worth the risk. Reasonably smooth victory after a fairly long lay off for this good looking colt. Potential winner of the Irish Champion / Champion Stakes.
