"The River of Sand" This is a film created by Cardelli Media and I which documents my Fly Fishing trip on the AuSable river in northern Michigan. The trout opener on this stretch of river has been on bucket list for a long time. Hope you enjoy it as much as I did.
    Cheers, Scott

my late dad was an awesome fly fisherman. He traveled the tiny rivers and creeks of southern Ontario and some lakes in Algonquin Park.. We ate a lot of delicious speckled trout in our youth. Dad tried to introduce me to fly fishing but I always bucked. Sorry now that he is gone and all his gear was given away.

The main stream, of the Au Sable, is known as "The Holy Water". Until the early thirties it contained a native population of Arctic Grayling. A variety of abuses ended that, That part of Michigan has many great trout streams.

"holy water" lol. until one of those fellas gets up and walks on it, I'll stick to worms. maybe one of those red and white bobbers and a radio to listen to the Tigers game. the traffic there with the canoes...lol. either the drunks going down river or the sport competitor going up, it never quits even in the snow. it's not always friendly either. nice video though.

I’m fixing to start fly fishing Scott I’m really hoping to stay in the “Orvis” family I love their presentation and views on fly rodding, just as soon as the Government stops milking the c-virus scare here in the ol’ USA. Nice! I just spent a couple days camping and fishing on the south branch last week. It's only about an hour from my family's lake house, and I'll definitely be back. If you get up there this time of year, try tossing some mouse patterns at the logs at night or early morning for big browns!

In my experience. The more stealth the more and the bigger the trout.
If I can fish a hole without putting a boot in the water so much the better.
I am afraid that the three of you marching up the creek have missed out on a much better experience.
Butt like certain parts of the anatomy everyone has an opinion.

I was just on it three weeks ago! If you can make it happen , it’s definitely worth the trip. Paddle in only camp sites are well maintained and the scenery flows by like a movie. Scott’s video shows that well. Cheers from Southwest Michigan!
