The Galaxy tab s8 indeed looks very solid. It would be great to see some smaller (around 9') and more powerful Android tablets with stylus support in the future. iPad mini 6 having some free real estate there at the moment.
Coming from an iPad to my S8, iPads are great unless you want to do emulation and then you have to start jumping through some pretty annoying hoops to get third party apps onto them. For work and drawing a lot of the iPad apps are way ahead but the S8's sPen is better than the pencil.

For me, even just the jump from a 60Hz OLED to a really good 90Hz LCD IPS was somewhat of an upgrade. Sure, colors aren't as great, but I didn't lose much on sharpness and it is so smooth.
Only if it's variable refresh rate, otherwise it kills the battery. Also kinda useless unless more apps utilize the higher refresh rate, and some apps have no reason to run at higher refresh rates.

Me, I have the Samsung Galaxy Tab S7 Plus, and this is the absolute best tablet I have ever owned....it's powerful enough for my use as I am a Spanish medical/legal translator, and I teach a Spanish adult conversational teacher....I also tutor elementary-school students who have trouble with school assignments because of the difficulties with learning English as a second language. I have an extensive library of over 4,000 books (in 2 languages). I am also a life-long avid crochet artist with many books and patterns of my creations, and I have quite an eclectic music collection of over 40 gb (in 2 languages). My Tab came with 512 gb and I added another 256 gb by micro chip......as a wife and grandmother I travel often all over the United States visiting my extensive family, so that means I have and take pictures galore, with the stylus. I am also a piano student with many books and assignments on the subject, and I also love my games, having several of them on my device as well. I tether it to my Galaxy Note Ultra 20 for wifi and can even use it as a phone. It's my music room, and, when I want to watch TV after my husband is asleep, it's an excellent theater with much more than adequate bass and sound, although there's no headphone jack; however, with noise canceling Bluetooth headphones I can drown out most all surrounding noises, especially on an airplane. It holds a good charge but I keep with me a 50,000 mAh charger, so I'm set for just about any contingency. I know I may not be the average user, but it ticks all the boxes for me.....when I do upgrade it'll definitely be to the Tab 8 Plus!

I would take a S8+ or ultra over the base model. I'd say the S8+ would be the sweet spot. The OLED screen and some of the other Ultra style benefits would be worth it.
On the cheap with half inch cpvc pipe, elbows, 2 elbows with tabs, tees, glue, wood screws from lowes. Hobby square board, velcro (for tab and square board) from walmat. You could build a stand for your ultra tab that hangs over the headrest of the bed that swivels in degrees. You can play your games with the wireless controller and watch utube videos or what ever else. I know cause I build one. I used this one for years for motel stays. Mine is a three in one with attachments. Although for adjustments cause the fitting and pipe have natural friction over time they get loose. You could use primer or screws to hold in place.
I have a S7+ and it absolutely wrecks my laptops. DeX is more than usable, though higher resolution output would be nice. Silent, fast, great battery life, fabulous display, nice pen experience, and all the cool Android stuff. I may never buy another laptop. Now waiting for 12L down here in NZ.
Hey ETA, this is a Longshot and I don't know if you'll see this. But you should maybe consider the apps Delta touch and quad touch. They're both apps with Doom and Quake source ports that support mods. Delta Touch has GZ Doom and it could be a great way to benchmark certain devices. Some Doom mods are quite demanding, you can do stuff like brutal doom on Slaughter maps with particle effects and such.
@@jeffsterc1657 I payed for both as a way to support them and they're just lovely. They control so well with touch that when it comes to aim, it's so far ahead a standard controller. It's become my proffered way to play portable doom over my switch, although if I had a deck with the trackpads and motion, I'd use that instead.
I mainly use my s7 for clipstudio paint for my job, it's an awesome device, but maybe I'm thinking to switch to the next model, because sometimes this tablet can't handle big size documents, specially with some brushes. I wonder if the s8 would perform better
At these price points I would be looking towards Apple. It's cheaper and way more powerful, especially the latest iPad Air with the M1 SOC. Although you should still check how it runs the specific apps you use. I love both Samsung and Apple tablets, so not trying to fanboy over either one lol.

Now waiting for 12L down here in NZ.
im sure it beats your 100 dollar laptop, sure
@@Blox117 beats my Alienware 17r3 and XPS13, actually.

Those wallpapers are great, where you got it?
Definitely want to see the controller mod!
nice love to see it, another video!
Not to mention i got Delta Touch absolutely free from the devs themselves.
What is best setting for Dolphin emulator? I play on tab s8 every games is lagging even I play low graphic setting.
Any thoughts on doing a video for accessories for these emulation tablets/laptops?
Would love to see a video on modding the gamesir controller!
Yes. Please do a video on setting up bluetooth controllers. I was trying to use Dolphin with my ipega bluetooth controller and couldn't get it to work right when I was trying to play Mario kart
In last video i commented thst you need to use Samsung's tab once and you'll love, seems like someone really likes it.....
I got an old Galaxy Tab A(2016) running Android 8.1, so seeing this work with all those games makes me happy. Can you download Punishing: gray raven to see what it's like on high settings? I think starting it would make me see if its true.
Definitely interested in the controller mod.
Would love to see a video on modifying the GameSir controller. I have thought about it but just never got to it. Thanks!
I love my S7 Plus & it works great with my PS4 controller. I use my Tab S7 for everything. Just wish there was more case aftermarket for these.
If you can make the X2 fit the S8 Ultra I'll be even more impressed!
Hopefully they will have the ultra tablet in 5g in the states soon 🙂
At 3:27 secs can you give me the name of that live wallpaper in background?
how did you modify your gamesir x2 controller, i have the controller as well as the galaxy tab s8.
No wall charger.. because nothing says "lower carbon footprint" like having to order accessories needed to run this tablet, separately.
Great review. I hope they come up with a hardwired clamp-on controller sized for this device.
please I need a video of how you modified the gamesir x2 for the tablet pleaseeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee...
Another Awesome: APPROVED vid.
And *YES, definitely* want to see that USB controller and mod a bit more. Currently using a PS4 DualShock over BT, but having a good telescopic controller with the screen in the middle would be preferred.
Looking for the x2 controller modification as well
Big thanks
Where did you get these amazing wallpapers from???!
