I found you guys from your 4-years-into-one-video-of-the-move-to-the-new-shop :D
Always admired crafters. It doesn't matter if it's 3d design for printing, blacksmithing or sheet working and welding.

Cool review really enjoy your honesty! The helmet comparison reminded me off an old Bell motorcycle helmet add you might have seen it on old auto stuff “If you have a $10 head - wear a $10 helmet”. Kinda corny but food for thought. Keep up the cool stuff Guys.

Outstanding product review. No marketing hype, just the facts and product use. The welding helmet comparison was interesting.

Here are some helpful hints on using a plastic "welder"... 1. when stapling get the staple hot off the work piece first. 2. Then make sure you are using the correct staple for the surface geometry you are repairing (ie inside corner staple for inside corners & outside staple for outside corner). 3. When you push the staple in make sure you go exactly halfway thru the material then put a slight side to side twist on it at the very end to "lock it in". 4. Always align your broken pieces as much as possible on the visible side (like a puzzle). Then use a very strong tape like metal ducting tape to hold that alignment. 5. Do all hot stapling on the backside that isn't viewable. 6. Make sure to trim all your staples. 7. Try to avoid removing any "up-welling" plastic around the staple because that is your strength!!! 8. If you must add additional plastic for strength make sure it is the same type of plastic!!!!!

15:22 "Smells like customs." Perfect phrase. I've never thought of the "concentrated" smell radiating (off gassing) from newly manufactured products at the ports. Has to be aweful. I can't get that image out of my head. Thanks... I guess. The more we know

Something I wonder about with all the different welding helmets on the market. It seems like every manufacture has gone away from the old standard 2.25 x 4 and the 4.5 x 5.25 lenses. so when you go to buy clear cover lenses , if your helmet has been discontinued your out of luck. I use a Huntsman 490P with a cool slide that lifts the dark lens up into the helmet. There's no flip up that adds weight to the front of the helmet. and the clear replacement cover lenses are under a buck a piece. The Huntsman 451P has the 4.5 x5.25 lens and those clear cover lenses are a little over a buck a piece. Sad thing is Huntsman was sold out to Jackson and they are getting harder to find.

I look forward to your videos each week, I appreciate the reviews, but as a builder, I appreciate the raw building content much more. Not a slam, just intended to be raw feedback. Keep it up, either way I will continue to watch.

I just drill or melt tiny holes across the crack and thread wire across and twist it. Kinda like stitch and glue plywood boat building. Yea those are really for thick stuff like car bumpers.

A good welding mask should stop most harmful light without changing. The reaction time from light to dark is only for visible light which is less damaging to your eyes

Watched a comparison video on welding lenses. Turns out they all block 100% UV always, and the darkening is just to help you see the weld. At least that’s what the TH-cams told me…

Regarding the auto darkening tech, since it's been around for more than 20 years, you are very unlikely to find a cheap welding mask with a slow reaction time.
Liquid crystal technology is even older, so it's very hard to make a slow liquid crystal screen.
Plus, even if the auto darkening failed, you'd still be protected from the UV light, leaving you with only a mildly annoying flash in the worst case.
