I've just bought a 2003 Vauxhall Astra Club identical to this in silver for £750. Funny to think it was once worth 16 thousand. Lovely cars and better than the later models. The new ones are too sporty. This was the best model Astra Estate by far.

how was reliability mate as i'm a newby who wants to buy one for my sound engineering business so i'd like for fuel consumption to be decent and reliability be a none issue cause yeah breaking down a few hundred kilos away from a gig or event won't be fun or cheap.

@@erikbritz8095 one of the most reliable cars I have owned. Vauxhalls always are. Only issue I had was the engine management light was stuck on, a common issue. If I were you, I would get the petrol version, not the diesel, more economical these days by a fraction. I traded mine in a few years ago now for a Vauxhall Corsa as I didn’t need a big car anymore.

@@teleaddict23 see thats exactly what i have in mind 😎 thank you cause yeah this will be my first car and will do the job cause firat thing im doing is taking out the backseats to replace them with fully down folding seats for hauling the sound system around.

The Astra may be described as dull by some people, but it isn't as dull as you may think, especially when compared to today's cars. Plus it's simpler and more sensible.

Here's Hammond singing the praises of a diesel, yet on Top Gear they scoffed at anything Vauxhall or Diesel. Work that out.

i had one and it was one of the most practical cars ive ever had.sadly it was a 1.6 petrol and the cylinder head warped.apart from that it was amazing.

I race one in banger racing car was a pain in the ass to strip the interior out because they was built like a tank but they was good on the track only problem was bottom Arms.

  • @richard29415

I've sat in 2 of these because they were taxis. The interior felt like it was of very good quality, like a Toyota! Why didn't Vauxhalls have cheap, hard, thin brittle plastics like French and even some German cars made around the same time then? I thought Vauxhalls were meant to be cheapo cars. But these Astras actually felt like they were a more expensive car inside to me.

Vauxhalls have always been better than they were made out to be, unfortunate in a way. The issue is people get second-hand ones that were previously owned by people who couldn't afford to look after them. The Zafira was once the most common car on the streets, 20 years later they are rare and worth up to £5k for a good condition example. Similar story for range rovers as people bought old varients past their best before.

They are rebadged here in the UK as Vauxhall for familiarity. They are bacically opels

      Vauxhall (Mainland UK)
      Opel (Mainland Europe)
      Chevrolet (USA)
      Holden (Australia)
