My FAVORITE? None of them. However, which tv movie is the most "altering" w/o any herb, pill or liquid required, thus the most healthy entertainment...The Holiday Special, of course.
The Haunted Village is my favorite, I know it's from the 90's but I own it on VHS and tried to get my kids to watch... but they cried a lot and I relented. The Holiday Special was the worst because of how disappointing it was to me as a child. I'm old, I watched it live in 1978. I was 9 years old. I'm still bitter
I have a real soft spot for the Ewok movies. As a kid, the idea that this one random moon had all this crazy stuff going on unrelated to the Jedi or Empire made the whole SW universe seem so much bigger. In particular I liked that it suggests there are other kinds of magic besides the Force. And the Gorax was terrifying.
I remember watching "The Holiday Special" as a kid with my parents back in 1978, and I got bored, felt guilty, watched it anyway, fell asleep, woke up, felt guilty for not loving Star Wars enough.
According to the official SWEU timeline, the Ewok movies take place about a year BEFORE Return of the Jedi. And you thought that was weird, they had a spin-off Ewoks cartoon that lasted for two seasons. And if you thought that was weird, it had a spinoff Ewoks comic-book which went REALLY insane, making live-action Ewok movies quite realistic by comparison.
We have A LOT of work ahead of us. We don't want to just do a Doctor Who trailer - we want to do it RIGHT. Which involves watching 50+ years worth of stuff, figuring out how to divide it up between us, etc. It will be a bit of a wait, but we have started working on it, and we're gonna do everything we can to make it worth the wait! - Dan
Good thing you're limited yourself to just TV. Add in the comics (since 1979), books (at least five long term ranges since 1991) and audios (at least two hours of material since 1998/9).
My dad, having grown up watching the Original Trilogy as well as it's subsequent sequels and prequels within the Skywalker Saga and enjoying them all, told me that I didn't have to see the Star Wars Holiday Special. He was fine with the Ewoks (didn't care for it all that much) but he never pushed me to watch the Holiday Special. I can't imagine why...
I am forever in your debt, Screen Junkies. I learned so much from this video and the HT. Had no idea any of these specials existed, let alone a bunch of people reprising their roles, but the thing I really need to thank you for.... is when you revealed to me at 23:17 that the #BestHollywoodChris sings?!! In a video??! There's evidence??! TH-cam and Google have *betrayed* me by never showing me this magic!!!! Hilarious HT and SJU videos, you're awesome!! Thank you thank you thank you!!!
I just showed my kids the first Endor movie and they loved it. They loved the Ewoks. Keep in mind my youngest has never seen a Star Wars movie (she's 6) and my oldest has only really enjoyed the new movies (she's 8). So they sort of know the Ewoks are in another movie, but this was their first exposure to them. They had a blast with that.
I also loved the Ewok movies as a kid, particularly that first one. For what they are, TV movies aimed specifically at children, they're really not that bad.
I gave the Ewok movies a shot a few years ago and they didn't do much for me, but if I had watched them as a child, I would have probably enjoyed them and held a nostalgic attachment to them. It's worth remembering George Lucas made them for his daughter, because she was a fan of the Ewoks. And "The Battle for Endor" was heavily inspired by the children's book "Heidi", about a blond haired orphan girl who goes off to live with an old curmudgeon, because Lucas's daughter loved that book. So it's hard to get too annoyed at those films, knowing the reason Lucas made them.
"Jefferson Star Destroyer" was a good line. Especially considering the version of the band in 'The Star Wars Holiday Special" was without Grace Slick..
"Wow! Whatda ya know!" Was a great call back to Dexter Jettster!! Good work @Joe Starr . "Many Ewoks died to bring us this..". Very good research by all the staff at ScreenJunkies News, I never thought anyone would find a way to use "The Star Wars Holiday Special" because of what was said about George Lucas.
Given that John Williams wrote the original theme song to Gilligan's Island, lyrics aren't out of the question. He did write the Yub-Nub song, after all.
Joe's suggestion to make a bad ASMR video from the flapping foam and latex Wookie mouths.... 😂 😂 😂 😂 😂 😂 😂 😂 😂 😂 😂 😂 Omg, that was great. I didn't think anybody actually watched those... 😂 😂 😂 😂
We had Battle of Endor on VHS but not the preceding movie, so all I ever saw was a child getting orphaned then get abducted by a dinosaur. It was a depressing movie for a young child. Reminds me of All Dogs Go To Heaven, except feturing enslaved ewoks.
For years i only heard terrible things about the Christmas special. So when i experienced it for the first time myself, I found it hilarious. I laughed a lot and i loved the songs. 🤣🤣🤣 That scene with Bea Arthur and the creepy customer felt very real. 😱
I think it would be cool if you did an Honest Trailer for Miyazaki Hayao's films like you did for Wes Anderson. He's regarded as perhaps the best anime director of all time, yet he despises modern anime. Plus, you guys are unlikely to ever do any of his films individually (although I would love that), so why not review his career?
Not sure if anyone's already addressed this, but both Ewok movies take place before "Return." Cindel & family don't speak the same language as Luke & pals; they come from an entirely different star system. Star Wars films are all "translated" into Basic for your ease of consumption.
I've heard that the second Endor movie was originally written to not have anything to do with Star Wars. It was just a script for an unrelated fantasy movie. That's why it feels so different from the first one.
I honestly thought that little girl was Drew Barrymore until very recently. I think I saw the movie as a very small child around the time I saw ET and the two of them just merge in my mind.
Lol that is the first time I've thought of that Deadeye Dick song since the last time I listened to the Dumb and Dumber soundtrack... well played Joe Starr
"With a twist" makes me think M Night because he's know for his twist endings. But they recently took him on with their other show. Is it called Smash Hit? Idk...can't remember.
Huh, I thought it was going to be Shadows of the Empire because I distinctly remember several pages about the bad guy’s personal chef and the food prepared for him in that novel too

PLEASE DO an honest trailer for *STARCRASH* its a Star Wars knockoff
My FAVORITE? None of them. However, which tv movie is the most "altering" w/o any herb, pill or liquid required, thus the most healthy entertainment...The Holiday Special, of course.
I actually loved the Christmas Special as a kid, the same with Caravan of Courage. They were my first introduction to Star Wars.
The only one I ever saw was the one where a kid gets stuck under some ice or glass in a pond. dont remember much more about the movie.
rewatching old commentaries cz man...i miss these three together. peak commentary era
I love Joe because his genuine hysterical laughter when Dan made the puppet mouth joke was my exact same reaction while watching.

I enjoyed the practical effects in creating the new aliens and creatures.
I remember watching "The Holiday Special" as a kid with my parents back in 1978, and I got bored, felt guilty, watched it anyway, fell asleep, woke up, felt guilty for not loving Star Wars enough.

I would so love a new Star Wars Christmas Special with the characters of the sequel trilogy, with the right humor that could be hilarious.
Cant Wait for the Doctor who episode!
You're gonna have to wait... a while There's approximately 27 solid days worth canon material that they all have to watch before they write anything.
They've been hinting at it for a while, im sure there most of the way through watching it, then its just about the writing and production...
Twenty-two solid days! Unless they''ve split it up among writers, there's no way they're even half way through that, considering they also have jobs.

Don't think you guys understand how good these videos are, they never fail to make me laugh :')
Waiting for that Masters of the Universe Honest Trailer
Dong Fang They dropped the ball on that one
Me too. -joe
And one year later...
'you made me look like an animal' I don't know why but I keep laughing at the Harrison ford impression
The seventies, or as I like to call them, the decade that taste forgot.
Thank you guys for doing this one! I love these three!
Great work as always, guys.
Keep it up.
15:04 might be one of my favorite SJU moments ever
My dad, having grown up watching the Original Trilogy as well as it's subsequent sequels and prequels within the Skywalker Saga and enjoying them all, told me that I didn't have to see the Star Wars Holiday Special. Laughed too hard at the lyrics for duel of the fates
*All of thiiiis is ooon a bluuue screeeen*
Hearing Dan say "sheople" is everything!!! XD
"Can you read my mind" was a top 40 hit, sung by Maureen McGovern.
Great job guys

Spencer’s wearing a hat? I’m calling the police.
Someone should make a disaster artist style making of movie about the holiday special
Bob Tipping I'd watch the hell out of that.
Except that everyone was so black out drunk or tripping balls that none of the production team or cast even remember filming it! XD
Metal Monkey , just like the original "Star Wars Holiday Special".
That's what i was talking about! XD
@@williestyle35 Were you part of the prodruction team?

I grew up with the Battle for Endor and I watched it as much as Star Wars. Wilford Brimley sarcastically says, “Luck!”
Diabeetus.
"Wow! Whatda ya know!" Was a great call back to Dexter Jettster!! Good work @Joe Starr . "Many Ewoks died to bring us this..".

Can't wait for the Droids Honest Trailer with the release of the next Star Wars story spinoff
Lyrics to the beginning of Batman theme: 🎶 Yoou killed my Paaaareeents 🎶
*I’ve gooot a baaatcarrrr!!*
@ 5:01 [* its Veterinarians that usually learn multiple species anatomy - Doctors like mine struggle with just the one . ]
those wookie grunts just made me spit coffee across my work desk=
For the holiday special, George Lucas (when he was still working on it) wrote an entire Wookiee bible, that even explains how Wookiees reproduce.
This episode cracks me up!!😂
I think I've figured out the Brimley F-bomb thing, it sounds like bad TV censorship where he said it and they just cut off the F sound in post.
*uck!*
I guess this was the pre-Mormon days for him
Joe's suggestion to make a bad ASMR video from the flapping foam and latex Wookie mouths.... 😂 😂 😂 😂 😂 😂 😂 😂 😂 😂 😂 😂
Omg, that was great. I didn't think anybody actually watched those... 😂 😂 😂 😂
Joe starr, Boba Fett fell into a sarlacc pit, not a rancor pit
Why hasn’t there been an honest trailer for the exorcist?!?!
"My parents are dead... Oh look Ewoks! Yay, lets sing a song!"
**Starts jazz dancing**
18:08
He definitely dropped the F-bomb.
The Star Wars Holiday Special is a timeless masterpiece!!
On the TV Tropes page for the Holiday Special, the first bullet point on the Nightmare Fuel page is "It exists".
We had Battle of Endor on VHS but not the preceding movie, so all I ever saw was a child getting orphaned then get abducted by a dinosaur. It was a depressing movie for a young child. Reminds me of All Dogs Go To Heaven, except feturing enslaved ewoks.
I've still got my old VHS tapes with the recording of the Ewok movies. I think they were aired on The Disney Channel back in the 80's.
HA. Spencer didn’t hold back “His Dad was a hammerhead shark”. I’m dying. I love this show, a lot of the time even more than the trailers themselves.
I have never laughed so much during a Screen Junkies video.... this was great
It’s surprising just how likable these guys are because there’s not one person I dislike
I’ve for so long I forgot it was honest trailer day
I honestly have no idea what next week's Honest Trailer will be... literally anything that has a twist. Maybe The Sixth Sense?
This makes sense. Dan has recently been on a Nolan binge.
Yeah, I was confused as well and Nolan was the first thing that came to my mind
Oh yeah of course, forgot they were doing that
Imagine Adam Driver in a Holiday Special. 😂😂😂
I wanna burn my eyes.
Hold me closer Tiny Gandalf.
Next Week! Its the Honest Trailer for Honest Trailers, directed by M. Night Shyamalan.
please do The Yellow Submarine next, that movie was weird but great
Nathan Colgan love that movie
Oh my god yes!!! Do a trailer for all of the Beatles movies!
If you're going to do Beatles movies, do The Wall too.
For years i only heard terrible things about the Christmas special. So when i experienced it for the first time myself, I found it hilarious. I laughed a lot and i loved the songs. 🤣🤣🤣

i feel like these videos are almost better than the actual honest trailers
Pre 90s crazy animation would make a great joe/lon weekend video.
Bea Arthur appeard in the "From a Certain Point of View" book.
Duel of the Fates lyrics at 11:15
Hey speaking of Galaxy Quest, how about a Galaxy Quest HT? Please?
A "50+-year show"? Could it be that they are FINALLY making a "Doctor Who" Honest Trailer? I have dreamed of this day! :)
Star Wars Holiday Special = Saturday Night Live (In Space) 🚀
23:12 They predicted Guardians of the Galaxy: Hot Christmas?
FYI Jolee Bindo actually says he did it all for the wookies in KotOR.
What book were you talking about
Please do a Red Dawn ‘84 Honest Trailer.
Those deaths in the Ewoks movie show more realistic Stacks than the sequels
thank you Joe!!!! i was sure no one will ever mention Ralph Bakshi.......Haifa Represent! also, legion quest starts there....where i was born!

That's some Heavy Metal 1981-like animation there with Boba Fett.
23:13
Confirmed for Disney+, coming holiday season 2022
"latex and foam rubber impacting each other"
That sounds vaguely "muppo-erotic"
sweet lord, Dan’s mouth sounds will haunt me for the rest of the week. Other than that, thank you for watching these so I don’t have to.
Kudos for the Deadeye Dick reference...
i skip to 26:26 to see Dan tap his chest, saluute!
the milk is strong is with this one
Which star wars novel is it? I vaguely remember reading one like that !
whenever you feel like hating this "thing", remember: THIS gave us bobba fett.
The Stuff Nightmares are Made of.......
Do an honest trailer of Allo Allo 90's sitcom
I honestly thought that little girl was Drew Barrymore until very recently. I think I saw the movie as a very small child around the time I saw ET and the two of them just merge in my mind.
How dare you NOT make Carrie's name in this be "Doesn't Even Carrie Fisher"
Lol that is the first time I've thought of that Deadeye Dick song since the last time I listened to the Dumb and Dumber soundtrack... well played Joe Starr
If you ever want to know why Gen X was so screwed up then watch these along with the muppets doing Bohemian Rhapsody.
The Boba Fett animation looks like it's straight out of Heavy Metal: The Movie.
Its an F bomb. If you watched this on VHS back in the day it was much clearer. On the DVD it wasn't as clear, so they must have editted it for dvd
They will be in front of the canons? Then all Christopher Nolan movies next week?
I don't get it
Everything is in the cannon. Lets shoot this thing!
23:12-12:20 I would actually watch that LOL!!!!:)
11:10 Joe Face
Do The Halloween Franchise Honest Trailers!!!
"With a twist" makes me think M Night because he's know for his twist endings. But they recently took him on with their other show. Is it called Smash Hit? Idk...can't remember.
24:08 Arrested Development!
Come on Joe, what Star Wars novel IS that? I read about 150 of them (slightly more than half) and I still can't get a clue from your description!
Planet of Twilight!
Huh, I thought it was going to be Shadows of the Empire because I distinctly remember several pages about the bad guy’s personal chef and the food prepared for him in that novel too
There was that ewoks show that lasted three years
still cannot believe that the ewok spinoffs got legit made
Could the next one be every Christopher Nolan movie???
That’d be SOO cool!!! Christopher Nolan is probably my favorite director! 😄😄😄
Please talk about Baneposting as well
B R A V O N O L A N
Did someone buy a Christopher Nolan trailer? I feel like that was one of the goals of the fundraiser
I have no idea but I hope so
When i first watched the ewok movies as a child i thought those two were supposed to be han and leia’s kids
Is it me, or is that white chewbacca the yeti from the Matterhorn ride?
