- I had great success with the initial load development for my 6.8 Western rifle using these components. Please consult with published load data prior to beginning load development for your rifle as what works in my rifle may not work in yours.

I shoot the 175 sierras with 62.4 grains of H-1000 and had great results! Took my bear this year with that load, and he only went 15 yards. The H-1000 has definitely been my favorite powder for the 6.8

You should be able to tighten your groups even more with a Lee Factory Crimp die and dry neck lube, especially with the Hammer bullets. as someone else commented clean the barrel. I don’t understand the mojo, but I can shoot copper then shoot cup and core and it doesn’t affect groups, but after cup and core I have to clean the barrel completely or my copper groups will open up.
Look at using 150 grain Hornady SST for target practice since it has a similar BC to the Hammer and Barnes 155/156 and use 4831 to run those. I picked up some from Midway $25/1000. A little cheaper than the buck a piece for Hammers.
I like it. Checked Barnes website they had their 155 lrx loaded with 63.2 grains of h1000 for a Max load. So you're right in the ballpark. That's the combo I've been wanting to try. Just hate cleaning my barrel down to Bare steel after shooting cup and core. I would not have thought it to be true, but apparently you get your best success with solid copper bullets when you clean your barrel down to Bare steel 1st.

I should say, I did not clean my barrel prior to shooting the hammer bullets after shooting cup and core bullets.
I shot the 156 HH with 63 gr of H1000 and got 2952 fps out of my 26” barreled x bolt. Got excellent groups, however, I may bump up to 63.5 and 64 gr to see if I can keep the groups and get a little more speed out of it. I also got good groups with the 170 gr Ballistic tip using Mag Pro. Good video bro!

@@jonbaniak9097you might look at a 50/1000 seating depth and around 65 grains MagPro 215 primers if you can get them. You should be looking at 3100 fps depending on altitude

I did not clean my barrel for these bullets. I'll clean every 500 rounds or so.

Possibly! I've been so busy recently that reloading has been put on hold for a bit 😂

Hammer bullets were 12% or so off about a week or so ago. Did you get lucky and buy during that sale?

@roguesummithunter I know you said you are done playing around with load development for now, but would love to see you work up a 170 EOL load with N570. I think you will be impressed with velocities. Others I have seen have had really good luck with it.

N570 is the tits roughly 80 to 120 fps faster then h1000 and same properties might need a drop tube and vibrate the brass to get it all in

Go to Choice Ammunition and order them online. They’re $68/box and they show 114 boxes in stock.
They wrote me back about a week ago and they are expecting more brass soon. They’ll be loading more 6.8 Western ammo soon. They have 6 different loads to choose from. They also said they’ll have these Hammer coming out shortly as well.
Pendleton Ammunition is another company that hand loads for the Western as well. I just ordered a couple boxes of 175 grain Sierra TGK.

@@roguesummithunter They all sell it. Actually getting it in stock is another story. RL22 is another unicorn. But I did happen across 2lbs of IMR4064 in a BassPro in Myrtle Beach of all places. Damn near shit myself
