I've followed the course from the first episode - and it's been a great journey. I speak for everyone who's watched your tutorials: ======WE ARE GRATEFUL!=======
Your tutorials are great, as many people have said. I now believe a Welsh accent should be the universal tutorial approach! This one particularly deserves a comment because although it could be editing, I've never seen anyone talk for 50 minutes straight and still be just as enthusiastic as when they started! Great work, the skip to section in the video description is an especially good idea.
I've been taking these lessons one by one over the past couple weeks and I woke up this morning feeling grateful, and excited. I took an Illustrator course 10 years ago in Uni, and had a rather unhelpful teacher. I learned a few bad habits, and never really had a complete understanding of many important basic features of the program. Picking up this course many years later and with a really thorough and explanatory course has really helped fill in the gaps and gives me a new lease on this program, and I'm really looking forward to everything I can do with it. Many many thanks, this is amazing content, and I will use all these skills with joy and pleasure.
finding your channel is the best thing that has happened to me in 2020 and i believe better things are on the way. You are so good. For the 57 folks that dislike the video, all i have to say is that they need help because explaining adobe illustrator cant be simpler than this. Thank you for the effort. God bless you.
Sir there is nothing i can say that hasn’t already been said about you .... thank you soooo much for what you have given us, you have empowered us to become better designers at the comfort of our own homes and pace. Anyways you are great, kind, an amazing person.... great voice as well haha ....THANK YOU SO MUCH !!!! God bless
50min turned into 2 hrs for me, but I can say, LESSON COMPLETED! ..thank you so much Gareth I think i'm learning so much. I think I'm in love with you *-* !!
Yeah, this is probably one of the most important in the course. You really need to see how intricate the process is here, and how to use the pen tool to do something like this. After it though I hope it helps! Just imagine how long it was to produce! I remember this one being a right mission! Worth it in the end though! 😀
@@GarethDavidStudio You must have the patience of a saint! It does help a lot, though I wish I were a bit better at using the pen and anchor point tools! My linework looks nowhere near as neat as yours :')
I'm finally in this tutorial section after some days. I can now do minor things that took me a lot of time to do. Before now, I only use Adobe illustrator to edit certain files so that they can be imported in Photoshop. Thank you David for this wonderful course. God bless you richly and greatly. I'm not done with it but I learnt so much so far.
Thank you David for providing a detailed tutorial on Adobe Illustrator. It is indeed a complete beginners guide. I now feel much confident trying out new stuff. I have also completed the After Effects tutorial and almost done with Photoshop. Thank you for putting out such quality content and making it possible for a novice like me to understand the basics. Best tutorial I have come across on design/digital content. My time during lockdown has been definitely well spent!
dude as many people said, you are f***ing great. I admire your desire and way to communicate and share your pro skills with the beginners. You made it perfectly, nice job!
40 minutes in this ep, illustrator decided to stop working and lost my progress fml. Not even mad tho because I've learned a lot during this course, i'll just try again later ❤ you're a great teacher, hope you keep doing these. PS: SAVE.YOUR.PROGRESS.CONSTANTLY!
Same. I was 20 mins in and Illustrator decided to stop responding. I even read your comment before it happened and thought to myself it'll never happen to me. Should've save often..
wow, after finished ep.14 i came in this long episode. and it remember me of your hard work. first, i have to prepare my self, cause this 50 minute episode will become 2 hours or more for me. thanks sir
Where have you been all my life?!?! Watching whole video before attempting, but I have learned more in the first 10 minutes than I have in full courses! Fantastic and thank you so very much!!!
Been following this tutorial since episode 1st and it really helped me a lot. Can imagine all the hard work you have gone through for all the tutorials. This is something that any coaching centre would charge in 100s of dollars. Thank you so much for all these tutorials.
I'm brushing up on Illustrator for a big project and these videos have been incredibly helpful. They're thoughtful and well organized. THANK YOU SO MUCH!
awesome tut. was learning illustrator a few years ago but I gave up and now started again. this is really helpful to get back into the pen tool. used to love it. ty
Thank you so much David. Sometimes I hear you in my sleep taking your lectures lol. I am a developing graphic designer and I have listened to a lot of your lectures. More Power to you.
I learned more in 20min of this video than any other video I've ever seen. A++ Not only lots information but the repetition to help it stick, THANKS SO MUCH
I've found a way to replicate the inside content an position it in a perfect way. Just set two guides on the center, choose the inside elements that you want to reflect and copy and paste them in the exact place (you can do this by clicking ctrl+c and ctrl+shift+v, as Gareth teach us). Then chose the reflect element (O). With the new elements pasted selected an the reflect element active set the reference point in the middle (by clicking on the middle of the document; or better, in the middle of the skull) and then click with the mouse on the document and press shift in order to do a reflection of -90°. That's it. Sorry for the explanation I was just following the tutorial and have the idea to find a reference point in order to make the reflection more easy, just find it so wanted to share it with you ;) Thanks for the tutorials, this is a great lesson.
Found this one of the best channel on youtube after many years... perfect teaching and step by step each section detailed knowledge. Please keep up the good work.
You have helped me out so much. Thank you for making this free as it is a huge help to us people trying to get a start with Illustrator. Appreciate you!
This tutorial by itself is an amazing artwork... I am wondering that still such a great people exist, who give such an astonishing tutorials for free... Your way of teaching is just perfect... Thank you so much Sir!
There's a lot of things you do that I react upon when I've followed your tutorials so far. Making the eye socket is easier using the ellipse tool and then manipulating the curve handles than making 4 points with the pen tools and then curving them using the anchor tool. When you make the heart shape, it is logical to only do one half and then mirror it. But the overlapping anchor points at the bottom are simply not removed by using the direct selection tool. It's better to join the two shapes together and then use the Delete Anchor Point tool. Thank you for your hard work.
The whole tutorial is great! Small remark. In the video we use reflect to draw the other half of the outline (7:30 min in video). I had problem combining the two halves, since they didn´t fit nicely together. However later in the video (25:47 min) you use pen tool to connect the anchor points and that is very useful. My idea is that you could mention this trick with pen tool already at the beginning, when we combine both halves. That would be even more helpful.
Before you look at the length of this video and think, I know how to do this now, I don't need to follow the video....... think again. That's what I did and I thought I did a pretty good job of tracing the skull, I'll admit, mostly with the pen tool. I was proud. Then, I watched this video. Now I'm going to start again and do it properly!
I can't thank you enough Teacher, the way you explain and the exemples are splendid, you manage this course beautifully, I even got a head of you so many times because all the techniques in this are previously introduced. PS : I think you should add your paypal account in description for donations, I think not just me but a lot of people want to pay you back and subscribe and like is not enough. Thank you for the thousandth time.
🙏Thanks so much, for me this is the most organized approach to teach something. You are professional, & you deliver first rate learning material that can be used to learn, review, have as a reference. You must have a tremendous time invested in this; the outcome is powerful teaching experience. I'm lucky to find such course with able teacher as yourself. This is so rare, given the fact this is in a public domain. 😊
I've been following your tutorials from the beginning and I've learnt a lot with them, they are really helpful. Thank you so much!!!. I appreciate your dedication and enthusiasm.
Thank you for these great videos! You are a wonderful instructor and a great presenter. So tired of videos full of "so you are gonna wanna do this.... um, yeah."" Yours are music to my ears. I can't wait to watch the rest of them.
I just want to say this video, along with this whole series were extremely helpful to me. I really have a feel for how to create curves now and have been practicing tracing other photos. Thank you so much!
Thank you so much for explaining every little step!! I managed to finish my first "real" vector illustration and i'm looking forward to achieve more with the help of your videos!
I have been fighting with Illustrator for years and is has been beating me like a drum. Your training video on this is incredible. Best I have seen. I have been a member of lynda.com at a great expense but now I only go on a month at a time and cancel. You need to be commended on this series. Just wanting these videos for the first time I am actually speeding through a few projects that I have been putting off. Thank you very much
Thank you sooo much! for the first time i manage to use the pen tool.. I still need practice but I did traced it the whole skull. it's not good as yours.. but its good for a first try! I messed up the theeth...couldn't get it right!
I found joy in these quarantine days, thanks to you

The longer videos are brutal, but I appreciate the time you took to show us newbies the ropes. Thank you sensei

the fact that you added "no homo" makes me admire you because it reminds me of pitiful people on the internet.

all the previous 14 episodes are better than the entire semester learning about illustrator
