I also have fine low density hair and I never realized that, that was the huge difference between my hair and people's on TH-cam. Everyone had thick dense hair and whenever they did their twistouts or braid outs it came out gorgeous. Their hair in mini-twists and mini braids was beautiful. Their wash and gos never missed! And I thought I'd be able to get there if my hair was longer. But I slowly came to realize that my hair never looked like theirs. Even when I was just putting my hair in sections to wash. I realized that one of the four sectons of my head was equal to like an eighth of another person's hair! I was devastated. I had low density fine hair. I was sad about it for a while but I think I've come to accept it. I've seen people with hair even thinner than mine and they accept it. And they look so beautiful with the love they have for their hair. So I decided to also love what God gave me (at least I have hair). And I think the advantage of type 4 hair, is that it can look dense without it being dense. As long as you don't do styles that reveal the thinness.
So, at the end of the day, you should just love the hair you were born with and care for it. I'm trying to get back on a healthy hair journey because I want to see my hair reach its fullest potential. I still watch thick haired TH-camrs and appreciate their hair (because I just love our afro hair and get so motivated seeing it thrive), but I do not undermine my own hair.

Tyra Mlambo, my hair is almost waist length but it is very fine and I seldom wear it out because of it. It has taken me over ten years to get here, a lot of patience managing it because I have 4c hair. Because it is so fine, I have to be extra gentle and take my time detangling and braiding or twisting it but over the years, or the past three to four years, I have learned not to shampoo my hair loose, I now only shampoo while in the protective style, twist/braids, with this way of doing things, I can easily manage my hair and have noticed less shedding. Also, I have not put any heat of any kind on my hair since going all-natural over ten years ago. But after watching this video, I am going to let my hair down and sport it just as it is lol! I am with you, I have to accept what it is.

Once I accepted my hair, I learned how to care for what it was and not what I wanted it to be (hope that makes sense). I love my hair now and it is the healthiest it has ever been. All glory to Yah!

Yessssss fine density hair is normal and should be acceptable!!!! I am tired of this mirepresentation in the natural hair community on how natural hair is thick and all that! I love the last words at the end of the video on how you would like to see more fine hair in the media!!!!!!!! It is indeed about time!!!!

I really appreciate all the TH-cam content creators who are representing low density Afro hair because for a really long time there was a serous lack of visibility.
As a child I though there was something wrong with my hair, as a adult I read a book called the science of black hair and I discovered I was misinformed. I realised this is how my hair naturally is,
    It’s not damaged at all.
For years other people including stylists would tell me my hair was thick, tuff and difficult.
Then I finally learned my hair is thin, low density and because I was trying to make my hair conform to a unrealistic standard I was actually damaging my hair.
It’s still a learning process but accepting my hair and loving it for what it is was so freeing.

This literally warms my heart so so much. This is why I do what I do and why I’ll never stop because of this message. I truly appreciate you taking the time to write down your thoughts and experience. Indeed many of us with low density fine hair have tried to ‘fix it’ with so many gimmicks and hacks when actually there was nothing wrong and this is how our natural hair is and it’s beautiful too. Please do share my channel with other fine haired ladies and let’s grow this community because REPRESENTATION IS EVERYTHING

@@herhairglory9204 U can keep it stretched to reduce them and of course it needs to stay moisturized and lubricated but that won’t get rid of them entirely... so keep those sheers handy to cut them out as they pop up. Also, dusting the ends helps. I don’t trim, I dust and that seems to keep everything in order. However, my hair has stagnated at arm pit length for a year now so I gotta learn some new techniques if I’m ever gonna get to bra strap length. But that’s what worked for me until recently.

Thank you for this. I have very fine hair and all the hair videos for black hair out there show women with these thick, full heads of hair and I feel like something is wrong with me because they part their hair into 5 sections and just one of their braids is the same thickness as my whole head braided. Sigh! But it's normal, and there's nothing I can do about it and it's okay.

I actually love a lot of castor oil on my hair! I’m a fine thin girl! I use it when protective styling or regular styling by time i take the style out or it dries it’s not as oily and definitely fluffy and shiny looking.. because my hair loses moisture so fast! your hair looks beautiful I’m my opinion!

Yeah you're my hair twin. People think i have a lot of hair but when i braid it you can see that I dont have a lot. But what i love about my hair is that it's really easy to care for. I can do updos easily. I dont have to endlessly comb my hair or smooth it back. It's easy to detangle. My hair wont do what other people's hair does and thats fine.

My hair doesn’t do well with heavy protein or not enough consistent protein. Most Nexxus products have protein, but it is very light and not overpowering.
I keep in a blown out state most of the time. Sometimes wear a bun with gel. After a blow out, I do twists or braids that I can take out for a beach wave look when I want to go somewhere.
Used to use a blow dryer to stretch but was getting way too much breakage from that. Very depressing.

Thank you so much! I too have PCOS and I think that’s why the front of my head is more thin. I’m on a journey trying néw supplements and will share how that goes

@@herhairglory9204 Oh wow I don't know why PCOS is becoming so common then ever before in Black Women. I never knew what it was until I was told . I had it by my Doctor my thinning area with mines is my edges . I just been using Black Castor Oil and Mane touch growth Oil on my hair and ends. Not in my scalp because I find it breaks my scalp out. I use a small amount of Curl La La first because if I don't it will make fine curl hair curl back up then Ors hair lotion and seal it in with castor oil or mane choice oil.
On wash days I normally grease my scalp with something lite and focus on my whole hair line with castor oil massage it in on my problem areas for a good five mins on each side softly. I know I would love to use gel and all of that other stuff but my hair just don't like it like that . I think it works at one point then it breaks me out somehow. So to lay my edges down and keep them growing I use the Blue Berry paste or the school Knew Comb that's pink to lay my edges down.

@@AleapiaKuteFashion do you mind me asking if the PCOS ever affected your cycle? I think people experience the symptoms differently because until recently I literally never ever got pimples and I’m very slim. Only since last year I get hormonal acne around my mouth every cycle but ppl with PCOS are usually bigger and have excessive acne and facial hair but balding is also a problem

@@AleapiaKuteFashion it sounds like you have a real solid routine going and I think you’re doing all the right things externally but unfortunately one can’t fix hormones just like thatv

I don't like having fine short 4C hair. The long thick hair was the reason why I went natural 11 years ago. My hair looks nothing like what I wanted to be. 😢

You just have to embrace it because those are your genes unless there is an underlying medical cause you can address
