Another day in India and another tough experience. Today i tried to find accomodation, and after being lead on by this guy, who then tried to charge me 2500 indian rupees ($45) for a basic room which was half the price on booking.com. after almost 1 hour in the building, i find out i cant even stay there.
its really sad and annoying that people choose to lie, scam and waste your time for money. i find this very common here in delhi at least. Next time i need to head to South India.

I wrote in an earlier post, we never support scammers no matter what their nationality or race may be. But the Somalian tourist who has alleged that he was scammed must give us full information about the nature of the scam and the amount of money that he was cheated out of. He has not provided any hard evidence that he was scammed at all. He has only made allegations. So, if he fails to show the evidence, he has "certified himself as abominable liar himself."

Agreed, I only stay in branded hotels in India, as much as possible. Those hotels give you first class service. In Delhi, try ITC Maurya, Le Méridien, Novotel, Pullman, ibis. Stayed in those hotels and loved their services. I know they are a bit more pricey but you get what you pay for. To be fair I have also stayed in a local hotel in Phagwara, Punjab called The Grand Ambassador, Hotel Bravura in Meerut, Uttar Pradesh and Grand 5 Resort Meerut. Had a wonderful experience in those hotels as well. So, there are some really good inexpensive and some slightly pricey hotels with great services in India.

      1) Color .. and from different country they fear drugs .. drug sellers ,etc india has least problem of drugs
      2) What if he comes and he is a bomber (This is their mind .not my mind but thats how they think)
India has blasts so they do these things of avoiding people ..specially foreigners .there is a bit of profiling going on..
      Fear makes humans evil.
      3) I had observed he (youtber) was treated super well in Pakistan .. He was treated bad in Chandigarh .. But they dont know ..
They have fear of outsiders specially africans cause they are known to sell drugs .
it is the knowledge but have seen some very good africans and many good africans ..You observe the blacks in usa.. some of the blacks they create very bad examples. .SO these people will fear...
4 There is religious racism and also color racism. .
      5) His country has been in news for piracy ..but note .. the local Indians ..villagers specially they will naturally fear you..
      6) Also the Chandigarh thing which I saw you dont have to worry about them. .They are saying things from their perceptions ..

If you visit India DO NOT STAY ANWHERE except a 5 star hotel. You WILL be dissapointed. These crappier places are disgusting and run by scammers, and they arent safe. This includes AIRBNB's. ONLY stay at 5 star hotels. They are cheap ($100 a night or less). If you cant afford that then don't go to India. You'll be disappointed.

I agree, and, if I ever visited, I don’t think I could stay there for the night! My dream countries are Iceland and Norway and Denmark and The Faroe Islands and The Netherlands and Sweden (but Germany and Luxembourgish and most of the US and most of the UK are also real cool) and the streets are clean and the air is fresh, and there’s mostly beautiful green nature and the buildings are usually very pretty (even the buildings that aren’t new tend to be real nice and definitely great for photography) with lots of modern new buildings too in bigger cities, plus I am learning the languages, and I am advanced level in Icelandic and Norwegian and upper advanced level in Dutch and upper intermediate level in Norse and German etc, so I am ready to be moved to Norway and Iceland and The Netherlands etc, despite the 🧊 cold weather! Normally I wouldn’t visit India or similar countries, maybe just visiting the mountain areas and the lakes that are the least visited for one day, then going to China or Japan for the night and renting a brand-new luxury building there or camping in a personal van or something like that! I mean, I think I would probably visit each country at least once, but definitely not the big cities when it comes to countries that have a lot of ppl, only smaller cities that are more relaxed and not hectic and without much traffic, and especially the greenest spots of each country, because I guess each country has some spots that are just green nature like mountains and hills and lakes or rivers or even seas etc, and those areas would also be great for photography, as I am also interested in nature photography, like I am interested in learning new languages, and in music etc! That being said, I would only visit countries if I had the possibility to do so, and if I was with someone that could take care of me and organize everything that knows about things like traveling and buildings etc, and if I had all the necessary equipment and constant Net (because I cannot go for one hour without Net) and a personal van or RV or something like that and anything else that I might need while traveling, because I wouldn’t want to be in a situation where I cannot find the right room or building and not be able to get any other things that I may need the way I need them, so I could not visit anywhere on my own, or at the moment due to the situation that isn’t a favorable one, but hopefully I will have the possibility to travel the way I want to in the near future, after all, I can technically learn languages and new words on my iPad while traveling as well, so I could still learn my target languages while traveling in the near future, because right now language learning is my favorite hobby, so I wouldn’t want to not be learning my target languages for a longer period of time and just travel, so I would definitely still learn new words and new languages while traveling if I were to travel in the future!

Or go for established backpacker hostels which can be cheap . Its an established fact that if you come to the hotel direct the prices are always going to be higher than the online ones even in case of luxury 5 start properties . So di the due diligence and book in advance .

I have been to India 4 times about 20 years ago but I wanted to go for a holiday and this really puts me off however this does not happen when you go to prestigious and 5 star hotels in India and there are educated people in India so you need to be careful where you book your hotel and the way they treat foreigners is disgusting!

  • @Allahlovecock

I had this same issue traveling in Delhi. I think a lot the cheaper accommodations don't have authorization to host foreigners. I traveled Asia for 6 months last year, and India was my first destination. I started in Punjab to, Delhi, Agra, Jaipur, Rishikesh, back to Delhi and then Kolkata. The first day I got to Delhi, I had the same issue when booking online. It took me an entire day to find accommodation. I hired 3 different rickshaws and a taxi driver. The taxi driver eventually was able to find me somewhere to stay.
India is crazy, man. After spending a month there, I promised myself that I'm never coming back. But, here I am a few months after my trip, and I find myself missing it. See you soon, India.
PS. That dude was trying to scam you tho.

I was watching the video myself. Beyond that, there were conversations between the tourist and the hotel staff members, and then there were conversations between staff members themselves. I have no idea what those conversations were about. I heard the Somalian exclaim, "you are a hero", "you are a savior", "thanks for your help" and, so on, in rapid succession, at one point. @@NoName-yn9bt Okay I'll share one. I booked a room online for > Rs 2000.
Checkin: The guy was adamant on charging me me more than the amount it said on the website and that taxes are not included on the website. After a long discussion, I ended up paying around Rs 400 extra.
The room was very different from the one shown on the website, with no windows at all. Obviously outside food was not allowed, they want to make money by selling you something from their own restaurant.
Checkout: I decided to extend my stay and went to the counter around 5 minutes before checkout and asked him to extend it. He replied that now I have to pay an offline price which is around Rs 600 over the amount I had paid the previous day. I told him to not extend the stay, for which he asked me to pay a late checkout fee of Rs 1200 for being late by 10 minutes.
This is obviously apart from their hostile behaviour and poor attitude the whole time, which really makes your stay a punishment.

@@NoName-yn9bt Another one is hotel in Noida, for which I had paid approx Rs 1300 before reaching there through Agoda. On reaching, I was informed that the guy was not aware of such a price and the real cost would be over Rs 2000. I called Agoda for the same who did nothing. We finally settled on Rs 1800.
At the same there was another guy who had booked a room on the same hotel for Rs 500 through another app and was going through the same ordeal.
This goes on to show how these hotels use predatory pricing to get you there and ask for a higher price.
There is obviously no real regulation on these hotels and the are generally owned by the influential people of that area and are hands in gloves with the local administration.

No They Didn't Scam You. Dollar price is 82 Indian rupees and not 55 India rupees. You thought it's 55rupess which is why u thought room prices is1500r which isn't correct.
