I completely agree with the "Be yourself" advice. this turns people into 1 dimensional cookie cutters. Thankful I have multiple hobbies outside of cars, but crap I don't nearly have enough money for them all lmao
Yeah I play guitar, draw, write lyrics and poetry (very basic lmao) and working on cars has kinda made me wanna do more than work on cars. I wanna do some wood workin and weld at some point, make my own tool boxes, work benches. I think that'd be wicked. I like to play videogames too
9:15 when i started to listen to this I took a long time to think it about this and I agree that your not special now that you will have to find something that makes you special idk y but this really hit me somewhere thanks Bladed.
I am currently 16 (almost 17) and what you said at the end made me think more about life, and the communities I'm in and how they influence me. Not only did that make me think also when you said that you are not special, you make yourself special; that made me think more about the future of my life and the future of my emotional and mental state. Thank you for saying that, and have a nice day
All of these things apply to any interest or hobby really. With a lot of people, it seems like there's really nothing to them outside of the one thing they're into. It's important to understand not everyone is into the same things, especially not on the same level you might be. It's cliche, but it's important to be "well-rounded" at least a little bit.
Pro Tip: Don't call any car "slow" when it does 0 to 60 in more than 4 seconds Don't rate a car based on that figure. Just don't. EDIT: After watching the video, I need to add that Bladed is really great at giving some serious life advice. Although being based on the topic of cars, many of his/your videos are giving some universal tips on how to be a better/more likeable person. It could be helpful for many people, not just us, to realize how certain actions/behaviours are seen by other people. Thank you.
i saw someone comparing a tesla s plaid to an e-class and i think a 5 series in a comments section about the latter 2, with speed, not comfort, not fuel efficiency, not anything important, only 0-60
yeah it's probably the most useless stat in day to day life. It's cool but it's not something that you should think about when buying a car. Like i would take a miata over a tesla. Just because that car is fun going at all speeds
I firmly believe anyone who calls anything with a 0-60 quicker than 5.2 seconds “slow”, probably never driven a car in their life and thinks that a car is only “fast” if it’s as quick as their V12 swapped hypercar in Forza horizon
This video right here...is the audio adaptation of how I've been feeling recently. point #2 is so fucking accurate. i lost interest at cars at a young age because cars used to be the only thing i thought about, and eventually i got burned out and completely lost interest in cars. i'd say it was one of the best things to happen to me because it opened the door to me to explore other things i might like. nowadays, i just casually look through car stuff from time to time even though owning a car makes 0 financial sense for me. the whole "you aren't a real car guy" shit is so cultish. back then i used to actually be like that, i was guilty of it and i was extremely stupid for it.
@@Kev27RS ask younger dumber me that question. Nowadays I'm a public transit advocate and the only driving I do on the regular is sim racing because I want to actually have fun behind the wheel rather than commute.
@@AA-ks7bo Good. What I mean with my comment is that, "you're not a real car enthusiast" actually applies to certain situations. Just depends what it is.
@@Kev27RS i mean it's hard to say really. by definition, anyone who is regularly enthusiastic about cars is a car enthusiast. one can't really say "you aren't a reaaaaaal car guy" to someone just because they are extremely toxic. they may be horrible to the car community in general, but by definition they are still car enthusiasts. the "health of the car community" as an idea now only sounds strange and culty to me because really the only way that a car guy can REALLY affect a fellow car guy is by buying up all cars of a certain type (eg: 240sx or e30) and either trashing them or speculating on them to drive up price.
@@AA-ks7bo simply because something so grey area and they wanna black-white it. Remember Bladed video about car community "tier level"? You are still car enthusiasts
When watching your videos it's hard for me to believe the people you're making an example of exist, but I know they do. It's unfortunate some people just can't seem to grow up and blame everything on outside forces they can't control instead of bettering themselves. I can talk cars with a lot of people but when they start talking to me as if I don't know what I'm talking about I immediately check out. #3 I'm making body works on my MK3 GTI, and currently don't have a daily, so I'm longboarding from home to garage (about 5 km one way) every day, morning and evening. On the weekends I have long walks downtown with my gf, and if we see a cool car, we talk about it, but is not like I just talk about cars the whole time, or that my life revolves around cars, even though I spend the whole week working on cars in the garage, or in the computer making 3d models of cars, parts and environment for car games (it's my actual profession), and I love it.

I love the bladed bro talks lol, I have never met a single person car enthusiast or otherwise that i've enjoyed talking to that is a single interest person. Having one defining interest is so lame because you miss out on so many things that you could learn how to do but chose not to in a vain attempt to get respect from people you don't know. I love my MR2, even my non-car friends love it too, but it's not because they really know it or understand it; it's because I go camping with them, have game nights, live a socially active life. The car just happens to be there, and as they get to know me, they got to know my interests and eventually we shared those interests! If you are confident in yourself and in what you love, know people long enough and the love spreads!
3:20 That sums up my name. My 2 biggest hobbies besides show, movies, guns, style and women, cars and playing guitar (Electric guitar, rock and metal.). Lol.
Glad I can get this advice! Because for the car community. I don’t want to be annoying and not be a jerk. But I at least want to know how not to be a jerk Edit: I at least understand. If somebody doesn’t know something about it their car. I won’t be like, “yOu DoNT dESeRVE tO oWN tHaT cAr” because they don’t know something about it. Oh. I wonder why!? I mainly learned this from you but the thing is. I at least never said they don’t deserve it. Also I’m trying to find a different hobby but I just don’t know what I would like. I just can’t find something. I play teardown. But. There’s many car guys and the thing is. I still use like car mods and stuff!!! So I need to really try harder!
Honestly Bro, it may not be as hard as you think to find a new hobby. You just have to get real with yourself in a sense. A few years back, I realized I like Soccer. I'm a Young Black man from an impoverished area, in a country where soccer isn't even a top 4 sport. Talk about odd to say the least. My point isn't to make that about me though. The point is honestly to let you know that your environment you're accustomed to, the people in your life, and the material things don't define who you are or what they mean. Instead you define what they mean to you, take some charge in your life. God Bless Bro 🙏
Bladed... I have been watching your videos for quite a while, I gotta say, you're getting pretty profound these days.. And you are spot on. Keep up the good work.
Very helpful vid and so true points told.. not everyone knows everything and one must always be open to all perspectives even though they do not match your own..
I love your videos talking about these topics. Really gives me a lot to self reflect about. I think I might have been the "actyually" guy at one point but I try to joke about it because at the end of the day, I don't know everything about cars and it's not my only hobby. I believe the car community is all about having a good laugh with each other 🤣
i own a 1994 Corvette and im obsessed with it, and have been for a long while now--but my real passion is being a musician/songwriter and photographer. I also am learning another language. being just a 'car guy' doesnt sound appealing especially considering how cars are seen as status symbols these days to even non car people. I dont want to align my entire lifestyle around that type of decadence.
Having other hobbies is a big thing. I’d consider myself still kind of a newbie car guy, but I still like doing car-related things and talking to car guys about car stuff. That said, I only really have one friend who’s also into cars, and the rest of my friend group came together over other interests, like Magic: The Gathering, sci-fi (particularly Star Wars), anime (particularly JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure), or Dungeons and Dragons. We can even waste hours just talking about the music we listen to.
man you brought me back to my teenage years with this video I was the annoying car guy with a bunch of other annoying car guys and after many years of experiences in so glad I still love cars but I have so much other things that it's not my only thing anymore I love your videos man
I'm gonna be honest, that bit at the end about taking a step to the side instead of stepping back or stepping forward is some amazing advice that not enough people hear. I'm defiantly gonna start using that!
Back when I was like 10 or whatever, I only liked cars (and drawing). Now, I like many things, such as cars, drawing, video games (car games and others), trains, and music. I’ve also been wanting to try getting into anime recently.
I really dig the whole hobbies point, really. Because it's just great to have something else to talk about. I'm a musician, diy electronics hobbyist, and also furry, so it really just gives me a lot of room in a conversation and a lot of diversity in friends.
I use car information very carefully i learned one girl how an engine works and if you dont drown it in info she will look at you like smart guy at least thats what she said me flex bro
This advice is true. At the end of the day, it's your choice if you want to listen or not. I have so many personalities and interests that with little research on anything, I'll fit perfectly in. Don't think of me as a big Extrovert. I'm very much the opposite of that but even so, if it's a place or community that has people like me, it'll make me feel like I'm a part of it. Even if it's only for 6-7 hours in a place of 20 unknown people before I retreat to my safe place. I've already done 70% of stuff I've wanted to do before I die when I was 19 years old, like owning a full gamers room with a console, PC, and mobile gaming setup, driving a supercar for a week, having an actual harem, having a game world record for about 45 seconds. Now I just have to get 1 finger on the hoonicorn.
That whole life segment really made this video so much more than a video on car enthusiasts. And I realised that the things he listed don't just apply to liking cars but literally any other hobby.
The whole get another hobby thing is crazy because I’ve seen it happen too many times. So basically I was talking to a another car guy once he was driving a C6 Z06. And me being new to the Corvette platform because I’ve been on the waitlist for a C8 for over a year and I’m finally getting close to the delivery date. I walk up to him and I’m like yo that’s a sick C6 so he goes on about it tells me what he’s done to it than he asked me “What do you drive?” And currently i drive my Genesis Coupe had it since my senior year of high school I just graduated college. Then he looks at me smiles and says “that little thing” and I immediately knew this guys ego and personality resonates in this car. And then I tell him I’m actually on the waitlist for the C8 corvette stingray. HE THAN CUTS ME OFF HALFWAY THROUGH MY SENTENCE AND SAYS “WHAT KID YOU CAN’T AFFORD THAT!!” and then I wanted to explain the situation I saved my money through college because I used my dads GI bill and it covers every school for free for me in California I played football so my parents were a big financial help and my mom as a last present for the rest of my life said “I’ll help you and give you 5k towards your next car when you graduate college” so I saved got the 5k and now I’m getting the car soon but anyway. This guy then proceeds to say “come back here when your car arrives so I can gap you in your wannabe Ferrari” and thanks when I left the conversation and just overall left the meet. I tell you this story to tell you this Don’t be that guy at the car meet don’t be that guy/girl that identifies through their car it’s the equivalent of peaking in High School but except your 35 years old and you have no other hobbies besides your car and surrounding your life and making it about your car. Because at the end of the day we love cars we truly do but when your dead and gone you can’t take it with you.
Tbh the car community rn is pretty wack.. I don’t even go to car meets anymore because Gwinnett county Georgia is just filled with sad boys and their grocery getters. It’s so wack I miss the old car community! Bladed thank you for preaching to these people!
Damn, i wasn't expecting this video to be this much emotional, i thought it would be more like a car meme type video which i got but becouse of video like this I'm now able to more understanding of other people. So as a fan from india i have one thing so say "Bas kar pagley rulayaga kya"
Thanks for pointing that out when I talk about cars i can't shut my mouth i talk about cars 24-7 people can get fed up with me but your videos are good guidance
Personally. I do have other hobbies. But cars are my full blown passion. I guess more of an obsession. But. That said. I agree 100% with these points! Keep it up man your teaching the toxic side of the car community. Even if its only a couple people per video. Progress is great
I used to be alone all the time untill I decided to work for the ppl I wanted to be seen as, I have seen so much progress, it's really nice to see myself change and improve, and for the ppl the didn't like me at my worst u don't deserve me at my best...... tho ill accept ya back cuz imma be honest u were cool anyways ahah
Being a better version of yourself. If the interaction with someone causes you to notice a problem with yourself, try to fix that. What is that someone proves to be fundamentally incompatible with you, you shouldn't try to force change yourself into something compatible. You shouldn't destroy who you are because of someone, but it's a good thing to become a better version of yourself for someone.
What I expect of this video: Stop talking about cars What I got: Be sociable, don't just shove what you like to others (at least this is what I take from this) Honestly, this is a really great video cause I struggle to interact with people in general. I'll try to apply some of it.
I got my friend into cars because we talked a ton about other things and before, all he played for video games was sports titles, adventure, and action games, now racing games are on that list. I taught him about cars and he taught me about football and how that game works
Ya I definitely realize that I'm always trying to improve myself. I don't want to stay how I am because I know I have many fault's. I need to try to be a nicer car enthusiast and person.
2:59 I can really relate to step 3 as primarily a motorcycle enthusiast i really LOVE bikes, i have a 2016 CB650f but im also a car guy, even though i dont own a car nor can i really drive a car, i still want one. I really like modifying cars and the whole mechanic side of things which is also why i do a lot of my own work on my bike. but im also a HUGE gamer and can spend hours infront of a computer screen while im also really fascinated by firearms and how they work/shoot, they are litterally controlled chaos i really think its important to branch out to other hobbies and an added bonus is that you dont really get as bored as quckly not sure if anyone is gonna read this or really care but i thought id just add my thoughts to this video coming from someone who was kind of obsessed with video games for a long time. also sorry for any misspellings, english isnt my first language
I think it helps if you already had a hobby befote getting into cars. For example, Ive been into playing music for a long time before being a car guy and it’s helped me have balance between my interests so as to not get obsessed.
Yup, your driving through Louisville... I just caught a glimpse of the Oakalona/Fairdale exit to my house. How strange it is to see my daily commute on one of my Subscribed channels.
The hobby thing more car guys need to do, I had interest in music and DJing all my life but I recently actually started diving in to it full on because I felt I obsessed over cars too much. And because of cars, it opened up the door to other hobbies because of similarities.
That's why I love who I become! Am 35 have a family own 3 school Yotas and am so broke that am force to learn other trades but at the same time dealing with my kids and other outside variants that cars are not just my only interest.

Luckily due to me being a car enthusiast all my life ive learned how to find other hobbies and yknow as a kid not everyone cared about cars. So i kinda had to adapt towards other hobbies. As well as my millions of other interests now. Sure me having seen thick and thin in the car community may have made me a bit jaded, especially towards sadbois but, ive felt myself growing as of late, still young and all so. Just gotta learn how to stop being anxious and talk more to fellas in meets
So I agree kinda with your point about be yourself. But like you should be genuine. That doesn't mean you never change but it does mean that yes often some people just aren't your people and vice versa. The core of you changes very little, the minusua really does make a difference but you have to be genuine with others.
a thing I've noticed about myself since i have autism, it's really hard to find other interests because of that so i half to keep my mind open to new things. which has 100% been worth it because I've found so many things i have equal interest in for the same reason i like cars. so another thing you can do is look for more things that share that big thing that you like about cars, like for me its learning about how they work which is why i like guns and steam engines shit like that which has been really nice for growing and making friend ships just my opinion on that get more hobby's one. and one more thing you can also do art that relates to your big interest or interests i do with 3d modeling.

@@wildside1951 lol.. working on ur own cars is great..in uni i was legit the guy with a streight piped 1998 Civic hatch 🤣
Pro Tip: Don't call any car "slow" when it does 0 to 60 in more than 4 seconds
Don't rate a car based on that figure.
Not me with my 12 second 0-60, but it’s super fun to drive. I get to floor it and slam thru gears and I’ll never speed
I firmly believe anyone who calls anything with a 0-60 quicker than 5.2 seconds “slow”, probably never driven a car in their life and thinks that a car is only “fast” if it’s as quick as their V12 swapped hypercar in Forza horizon
@@rajder656 And it will last forever if you take care of it, while a tesla will fall apart and/or start on fire before your very eyes lmao
It depends what "you're not a real car enthusiast" is referring to.
You aren't high-tier car enthusiasts when you can't fix your car, but it's perfectly absolutely okay to be mid or low level because you can be high-tier enthusiast on other thing. You are still car enthusiasts
So in essence:
Have social skills, have other stuff going on, and actually be a fun person to be around.
This video is special cause bladed became a life advisor
I don't want to say. It in a mean way
I really respect what he said
It's even more special, because that's my city in the video.
I'm open to learning more about something that I'm interested in, always, just don't act like you're dunking on my knowledge and acting holier-than-thou just because you know how many quarts of oil a 458 needs or whatever.
Totally understandable!

My man just went from meme venting to giving full on life lessons.
I always liked it when car guys include a part of their other hobbies into their cars it makes them more unique both the owner and the car
6. Dont straight pipe your street car :)
3:20 That sums up my name. My 2 biggest hobbies besides show, movies, guns, style and women, cars and playing guitar (Electric guitar, rock and metal.). Lol.
Loving this Bladed! Keep the wisdom coming man.
Glad I can get this advice! Because for the car community. I don’t want to be annoying and not be a jerk. But I at least want to know how not to be a jerk
Edit: I at least understand.
This video was really wholesome and has a lot of good advice. Thank you bladed.

Hope the person reading this is having a great day

That whole life segment really made this video so much more than a video on car enthusiasts. And I realised that the things he listed don't just apply to liking cars but literally any other hobby.
That's a sick looking MR2
The concept of being yourself for me means the process of actually making yourself YOU (continously improving)
Hey Bladed, when are you going back to doing IRL content, I miss seeing your Z06

Love that MR2 on the thumbnail. In my opinion, MR2 > Supra because atleast MR2 isn’t overrated unlike the Supra
What I expect of this video: Stop talking about cars
What I got: Be sociable, don't just shove what you like to others (at least this is what I take from this)
Honestly, this is a really great video cause I struggle to interact with people in general. I'll try to apply some of it.
You can talk about it just don’t be obnoxious and nonstop ranting, and if they don’t seem interested, just stop
I got my friend into cars because we talked a ton about other things and before, all he played for video games was sports titles, adventure, and action games, now racing games are on that list. I taught him about cars and he taught me about football and how that game works

2:59 I can really relate to step 3
as primarily a motorcycle enthusiast i really LOVE bikes, i have a 2016 CB650f but im also a car guy, even though i dont own a car nor can i really drive a car, i still want one. I really like modifying cars and the whole mechanic side of things which is also why i do a lot of my own work on my bike.
but im also a HUGE gamer and can spend hours infront of a computer screen while im also really fascinated by firearms and how they work/shoot, they are litterally controlled chaos
i really think its important to branch out to other hobbies and an added bonus is that you dont really get as bored as quckly
not sure if anyone is gonna read this or really care but i thought id just add my thoughts to this video coming from someone who was kind of obsessed with video games for a long time.
also sorry for any misspellings, english isnt my first language
How to not be an annoying car guy: Don’t repeat overused car jokes like a redditor

Blade is the intermediary between non car people and car people.
a thing I've noticed about myself since i have autism, it's really hard to find other interests because of that so i half to keep my mind open to new things. which has 100% been worth it because I've found so many things i have equal interest in for the same reason i like cars. so another thing you can do is look for more things that share that big thing that you like about cars, like for me its learning about how they work which is why i like guns and steam engines shit like that which has been really nice for growing and making friend ships just my opinion on that get more hobby's one. and one more thing you can also do art that relates to your big interest or interests i do with 3d modeling.
