I am a long time Thailand expat. I have a retirement visa and never have to leave Thailand. It is valid for one year. There are 90 day address checks but that takes about 5 minutes online. The cost for my visa is about $52 a year. You have to be 50 years old or older. You do have to have 800,000 baht in a Thai bank but if you cannot afford that you cannot afford to retire anyways. If you are married to a Thai, 400,000 baht in a Thai bank is the requirement. I am married to a Thai lady but the retirement visa is easier.
I’m from NEOK, but have lived and worked in China for a touch over 13 years. I’ve never been to the Philippines…that will most likely change now that I’ve subbed to your channel. I agree with your comments about Koh phi phi. That place is absolutely amazing. Indonesia has a set of islands called the Gili islands…they’re just as amazing. If you ever have the time you might want to check out phnom phen in Cambodia. Phnom Phen is another one of my favorites.
No one living in Thailand (where I currently live), has pointed out the particular problem for British retirees when compared to the Philippines. In Thailand, your UK state pension is 'frozen' at a fixed amount on your retirement date. In the PI, it increases every year! It's for this important reason that I'm relocating from Thailand to the PI :)
Good point that island-to-island air travel infrastructure is not just whether there is air service, but whether it's necessary to fly through a connecting airport.
I'm in Thailand as for me it beats the Philippines easily in pretty much every category that matters to me - so food, accomodation, healthcare and dental, infrastructure, travel costs and on and on. Language hadn't been an issue forr at all here on Phuket, and in Bangkok, Pattaya, Chang mai etc you'll be fine although learning a few bits of Thai is a basic courtesy However if language was a major concern I'd choose Malaysia all day long. Far better English than in the Philippines and I found it MUCH cheaper for high quality accomodation and healthcare than the Philippines and probably 20/30 percent cheaper than here in Thailand. Plus the food is great, it's very Safe, the people are friendly, the infrastructure is 1st world. It's a great option actually which I may explore myself more in the future
@@theswede5402 It's definitely much more easy than in Thailand where even if you cough up for the elite visa you still need to do the 90 day reporting. Malaysia used to have a really good program called the MM2H visa ( Malaysia My 2nd Home) where for comparatively little money on a deposit you could get 10 years to start. Bur then the financial conditions became much more onerous and demand fell off 90 percent. Because of that fall off late last year the gov changed it again to make it more attractive. Google MM2H visa to get all the details
You can get a O retirement visa in Thailand for one year if your over 50 get a agent to do it for you and it works out the same as the Phills money wise after 12 months and you dont have to leave the country just do 90 day reports and after 12 months repeat and you can do that forever easy enough for me.
Thank you for the comparison. Liked and Subscribed! I agree with your strategy of living in the Philippines and visiting Thailand. Don't catch the sticky ping pong ball with your mouth.
Only the most virgin Pacific Ocean 🌊 water 💦 that enters the Philippines and exits to various Asian countries due to the rotation of the earth 🌎🌍. Love the Philippine beaches!
Cambodia has the easiest visa entry, probably in the world. If your over 50 Thailand is easy too, for retirement just use an agent! Can renew every year, no need to leave the country!
Land of smiles . 😂 this guy is funny . Great video . Most of the time I go to Cuba or Jamaica because I fly from Toronto. This winter will be my first time in Asia. I have a stop over in Tokyo for a few days before I fly to Bangkok. Im looking forward to my first happy ending . Lol
Had a Filipino restaurant open a few blocks from me here in Phoenix, Flaming Pig. Went for lunch and no one was there. No customers, no employees. Way at the back there was a guy talking on his phone. I was walking around and he did start waving for me to come in, but his phone call was more important. I left. It's closed now. Took about 12 months of remodeling. Open for about 3 months. Well, it was the true Filipino experience. Bad service, out of stock.
well said. give i.q's a google. thailand= 92. ime over there the thai's are stupid, and 92 is stupid philipines-84, i rest my case. if u want to be around the living and in asia= japan, korea, taiwan, china, vietnam all places with iq's over a 100
At the 31-minute point of the video, it sounds like you're attending a cockfight, what's with all the roosters during the day?! That would drive me insane
Thai businesses drive trucks in a loop blasting dance music at window-shaking volume levels, advertising useless junk, and they do this even in chill areas such as beach towns. The PH can also get pretty loud but I've never heard anything in the PH even half as loud as those Thai trucks.
Dental clinics in Thailand and Malaysia are 1st world quality at developing world pricing. I've had quality work done in both, I don't know about the Phills though.
So everything is better in Thailand except English-speaking 😂. I live in Thailand, so i obviously love it. The Philippines has always been soft landing for expats. Less work with language and visa process
Great vid, and couldn't agree more about Thailand, I thought you were a west texas guy...sorry . but I know you Oklahoma boys think the best thing about Texas is I-35 north🤣🤣... Take care brother

Doesn't seem to really matter. IMO Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia, Vietnam are all better than PH for infrastructure, little cheaper, better food, good medical. Foreign men go to PH for one reason...Filipinas. People speaking English is only a plus for dating. Foreign guy going to a clan party isn't going to understand a word because all the Filipinos will be speak their language. For restaurants, markets, hotels, resorts, medical in all SE Asian countries there will be English spoken at least enough to get what you want. Learning a few phrases isn't super hard. Malaysia has oil production so fuel is pretty cheap. That translates into taxis, delivery and bunch of things be a little cheaper.

Im in this very position trying to decide between PH, Thailand or Vietnam. Which one is cheapest? Overall costs of living i mean.
Vietnam was cheaper for me but im not sure about the visa situation
I got to go check out Thailand's water beaches or whatever have you so Thailand is hands down with the beautiful beaches and water picture perfect
thanks for checking in
I can imagine what the ping pong show entails......lol Good Vid Brent! Yeah they did in fact do away with the 6 month visa
Which country is more peaceful (barking dogs , roosters, karaoke) outside the city ?
Thailand

Great content
Why is it only those two? What about Italy or Montenegro?
Never been there
They have weird fetishes on Asian females.
New sub currently researching Phils. Valencia is in Mindanao? How safe is that? Is it remote? Is there food delivery?
No its by Dumaguete on Negros Oriental Very safe. Yes on food delivery
