  • This is the best desktop laser in 2021! The Ortur Laser Master 2 PRO blew me away and it's Better Than the Ortur Laser Master 2 I reviewed a couple months ago! It could be the fastested desktop laser in 2021 as well with their claimed speeds! This is a quick video to show you the features and a couple quick tests I did. But I am loving this laser!!

    A couple things to note.. I just double checked and it does say CM on the measurements, not inches. I misspoke on that. Also, as far as the stepper motors, when filming I didn't realize that the one on the X Axis was moved from the laser head mount to the side of the laser. I definitely missed that and thought they added a stepper on the right side. But in reality, they moved it there. Thanks for pointing that out. I should have caught that.

      I wish they'd added the dual y stepper. A little more mass on the gantry, but eliminates one source of banding. Modders add a second y-axis to the Laser Master 2, I sell a kit as well as an upgraded control board laserupgrades.com.

    In another review was a problem with power loss. Maybe due to a dirty lens. Did you encounter any problems? The design with the orange laser shield seems, in my opinion, prone to keeping smoke from burning or cutting near the lens for more time than without shield.

    One thing is the power light is very hard to see. I left mine on by accident once while I ran to the store, not firing, just on. When I got back for some reason the light was flashing and alarm beeping loudly. Odd since there was no fire. Maybe it got used to being in the dark and then I opened my garage door and let the UV in.

      I would grab a scrap piece and play around with the settings. Create a small rectangle in LightBurn, choose the "Fill" option and burn it. Then burn it again with slightly changed settings. Do this until you get the look you want. With the Pro you could start at something like 5000mm/min and 20% power and see how that looks. Then change the power over and over until you dial it in. Let me know if that helps.

  • @scotttovey

    Did you have a problem with the rollers on the X axis going flat?
    I purchased one of those z-axis from alliexpress, installed it and let it sit about a month. When I fired it up to burn something, the wheels were so flat that the x-axis could not move, it was locked in place.
    It turns out those plastic wheels are too soft to hold all the weight that comes with one of those z-axis.
    But, yeah, it's a lot easier to focus than doing some hincky adjustments than the OEM z-axis that some of the cheep one's come with.

    Interesting video. I liked the examples. When you do a more in depth review, please show it working. I'd be interested in seeing it engrave at different power/speed settings. I'm also interested in seeing how long it takes to complete various tasks. 10Kmm/s is only 5.56ips. Seems like it will take a long time to complete a task, especially if it can't reach it's claimed max speed, or needs multiple passes. Also, your transition sound is incredibly annoying.

    • @TheEdgeofTech
      @TheEdgeofTech  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Just to clarify, if you look on their page here: ortur.net/products/laser-master-2-pro is says that the focal distance is 50mm "from the heatsink to the object". So that would tell me that it should be measured from the heatsink, not the bottom of the lens.

    • @tRRickedOut
      @tRRickedOut 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@TheEdgeofTech I read that also but like you I've seen both. From the heat sink to the material is really close. So close that it changes my dot to a small line which I've also heard is OK. From the bottom of the lens to the material gives that small dot. I guess the only way to figure this out is to burn with both and see which looks better ;)
