- Talking about very personal topics on a public forum can be difficult but we hope our story leaves you in some way inspired or encouraged to trust God in every detail of your life :)
Tori and I both have had control problems. From trying to control the timing of our relationships, to stressing about being successful and even when we have kids. It's normal to want control over these things as they are big parts of who we are... But we realized that our desire for control was making us not to run God and run to our own understanding and logic...Proverbs says "trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean NOT on your own understanding, but in ALL ways acknowledge Him and He will make your paths straight." I love that because for a while I lived the verse out as "trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean TOTALLY on your own understanding, and in SOME ways acknowledge him..." That's not healthy because I was taking control, and leaning on what I know and what I believe is best and not giving God every part of our lives... Anyways, if you struggle with this, you are not alone... Hope you can find this video encouraging and to take a step towards giving God your entire life!

I stopped taking the pill almost 7 years ago. God convicted me too. I wanted to give him everything. Including my fertility. We have 5 children. What a blessing! People think we are crazy or irresponsible. And it has taken me years to feel secure in what God wants for us and not what people think about how I should live my life. He takes care of us and loves us no matter what. There is nothing like raising little people for his kingdom!! Not to mention the freedom in your sex life. My husband and I enjoy each other whenever we want without being fearful of getting pregnant BC we gave that to the most high

Yes to this! I got convicted about it recently because i keep pushing back when i’ll have our next child or TTC. And God is like stop this nonsense and be fruitful and be intimate
Its so Biblical to intentionally give our womb’s/fertility to God, even our diets (what im working on lol)! Plz share your children's age gaps, o pray that the Lord blesses me with about 12 months apart but its all up to him☺️

I love their story. I also stopped the pill because of what I felt like it was doing to my body. I took it for 4 years too!
BUT for those interested in going pill free, please read the book Taking Charge of Your Fertility. It will help you understand your body more. It also will leave you in a place where it’s not so much chance, but you can still “take charge” of when you have kids NATURALLY. And it’s a way where you can still listen to the Lord and ask him HIS timing when you’re to have kids. But whether you want kids or don’t, it’s a great way to better understand your body that God created!

I'm getting married in 43 days (!!!!!) and I'm not going to take birth control. I've gotten some flack for mine and my fiance's decision, but leaving it to God and trusting Him is why we decided to not use it. It's so encouraging and beautiful to hear your story. I totally agree with you on this, but not many people are actually willing to FULLy trust God with the most important things in life. If we try to take control, ultimately we are missing out on God's blessing for us. His plan is perfect! I really think it stems from a doubt in our hearts in the absolute goodness of God. this was so God given!! I was discussing this with friends and family not long ago and how so many of us worry about planning our “perfect” life, but at the end of the day God is the one and only perfect author. He is in full control and He gives accordingly!! Thank you for sharing this!

As a Catholic, the way you explain your reasoning I HAVE to say I know you’d get a lot from reading Theology of the Body. Christianity, catholic or not, has historically realized the same things about surrendering to God even in this aspect. Bless!
I am also a Catholic. I have never used confoms nor the pill. During some time I used Natural Family Planning (learnt thanks to CCL), because I had important reasons to do this.
I have great peace of mind. It is important to pray about this subject, I think.

NFP is a natural way to avoid pregnancy only under grave circumstances (for example, a serious health complication). "We're just not ready," "We want to get used to living with each other," "We have a lot of goals we want to accomplish first" do not constitute grave reasons. NFP always leaves the door open for God's will to override our own wills, whereas birth control deliberately and artificially blocks the natural fruit of sex (children). Yes, most Protestant couples will still say, "We are still open to life if anything unplanned occurs" but their attachment to birth control proves that they're not actually open to life. They are trying to control their future, rather than allowing God to control it. The pill was never apart of God's plan for marriage.

You’re a very sweet couple. Your faith and love for God really shines through in your videos. I’d like to respectfully point out that while your experience is beautiful and might be empowering for many viewers, there are also those that might be disheartened by the underlying message that can be derived from your story. I understand that your intention with this video was to encourage viewers to trust God fully, however when you link that message to a controversial topic such as birth control, there might be some misunderstandings that NEED addressing. There are many Christians that share your conviction and your faith; some of them don’t have a financial stability that allows them to not use birth control. While you are in a position to raise a child that you might not have planned for, there are many people who aren’t and that doesn’t mean that they don’t trust God fully with their hearts and their bodies or that they are taking the story of their lives out of God’s hands. When you have children you need to make sure that you can provide for them and give them a happy life. Raising kids, paying for their education and giving them the life and experiences they deserve is not always possible for some people. Many of us need to plan our families; birth control is a very important part of that. You guys have a very big following and your viewers love you and listen to you. They can see you’re happy and they try to emulate that by following your example. Your influence is an enormous responsibility, it means that what you say matters. You need to consider the posible ramifications of the message you are sharing, many people can finish this video and feel saddened because they now think that their faith and love for God isn’t strong enough just because they use birth control.
For those of you that might be reading this and are feeling conflicted about using birth control: God understands your circumstances and if you know that you are NOT in a position to raise an unplanned child, God doesn’t judge you of you use birth control. He can still write your story of you let him and He doesn’t look down on your faith just because you need to be more cautious about when you decide to make a family.
Tori and Chad, every time I watch your videos I smile. I started watching your content because my sister introduced me to it and I am glad that she did. I write this comment knowing in my heart that you guys are good people that had the best of intentions, I just felt like it was my responsibility to address those things. I have the upmost respect for you and I hope that I haven’t made you feel uncomfortable. I’m not trying to bring hate and I’m certainly not judging you for your decision, I commend you for it and for your trust in God. I hope you have a wonderful life and truly wish you a lot of success. English is not my first language, I apologize for any grammatical errors.
But, regardless of a couple's financial standing, it still comes down to trusting in God - His provision, His timing, His way. If He chooses to give a child to someone who is struggling financially, could He not also help provide for that couple and their new child? Scripture states,
"Seek first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things will be added to you." Matthew 6:33.
What are "these things"? Contextually, Jesus is talking about people's basic needs in life: food, clothing, shelter, etc. Trusting God completely means not only trusting God with our bodies, as Tori discussed, but also trusting Him with our financial provisions. I'm not going to sit here and say that's easy. In fact personally, I am not currently in a financially comfortable state myself. But, the question remains, do I trust Him with everything, even when it doesn't make sense in the natural? Can that faith be tested with obedience? Because that's part of what obedience is - Obedience is an act of faith. Because it shows we're trusting God, even when our circumstances look questionable. Again, I know that isn't easy. Often times, God will stretch our faith to help us take our trust in Him to the next level. Just some thoughts to consider.
I appreciate your perspective and agree that it always comes down to trusting God. In writing the comment I simply wanted to make clear that birth control isn’t a measurement of someone’s trust in God. A person who doesn’t use birth control doesn’t necessarily trust God more that someone who does. After all if He wants to give a child to someone who might not be financially stable he will do so weather they are on birth control or not. As you said He will provide. Choosing to use birth control or not is 100% a personal decision. If our position is that using birth control means that we don’t trust God and are standing in the way of His Will, then we would have to apply it to every aspect of life. What would that mean to the people who can’t conceive naturally? Are they standing on the way of His Will if they use artificial insemination or IVF? Does God not want them to have children? Is it not his will? Are we not trusting Him if we use science to conceive?
It is not up to us to decide what His Will is or isn’t. What I want to bring attention to in my comment is that if we trust him with our hearts and our life HIs Will will be made regardless if we use birth control or not.

@@valerielinares2068 I agree, and Tori did start off and end saying this was HER personal experience and it's not saying that birth control is good or bad. Sometimes it's good to hear one person's perspective because at some point it can be helpful to you personally and if not then hey you heard a nice story of how she handled it. Either way the aim is follow your peace and the Holy Spirit will let you know which way to go to stay in that peace. It's not about comparing your situation to someone else's cuz they can't trust God for you, and how you are or aren't trusting God is ultimately between you and God cuz He knows your heart even better than you do. Birth control is just a means of allowing us to enjoy sexual intimacy without having a baby. Of course if God really wants to give you a child, He can do so even if you use birth control. The idea behind using birth control is to enjoy sex in a responsible way. Because God created sex for our enjoyment within a marriage. Sex is not just for procreation, it is also a means for couples to enjoy the physical bonding of the penis rubbing inside the vagina due ejaculation takes place as well as the emotional bonding of being so close with your spouse. As a married couple, I see no reason to abstain from having sex with my wife if she is desiring for it, but I would rather give her sex so that her desires would be satisfied and I get to satisfy myself as well. It’s a win for both persons. And let’s face it, women desire most for sex during their fertile days so that’s the best time to have sex because it would be so easy to penetrate her vagina and she will be very wet down there so it’s a form of natural lubrication. So birth control is important so we can enjoy sex at the best time where both persons want it readily without getting an unplanned pregnancy.

Thank you for sharing this! I felt so alone in choosing not to take birth control (for health concerns, not in marriage haha). I felt like stopping a natural process using medication just wasn't right and not honoring the Lord with my body. Amidst all of the pressure from my friends that it really wasn't a big deal, it's nice to know that I'm not alone in choosing not to take birth control because of a conviction from God even if the reasons are different.

i felt the surrender aspect of your story HEAVILY. when i was going back and forth with dropping out of college i look back now and realize that i wanted to control my future and had a pride issue in that. but surrendering my future to the Lord was the best & hardest decision i’ve made in a looong time! so glad i did it though - He is so so good!

Thank you for sharing Tori! 3 months before I got married, I went on the pill. I did NOT like it all, how i felt and also conflicting thoughts about what God wanted for me and I felt the pill was contrary to what God wanted for me, so one month after getting married, I went off of it. BEST decision of my life!!! I felt free and like I've given all control to God in that area of my life. Ultimately, His way is better

Just wanted to add, for anyone who might need it and may feel conflicted, that the story that God writes for us is specific to our circumstances. If your circumstances prevent you from being able to raise a child where you are right now in life, it is also perfectly ok to trust God and use the resources you have to wait for the moment He has for you. Don't think for a second this does not mean you don't trust God completely. His plan for you is 100% custom made for your circumstances.

The Lord revealed to me when I was 15 that I should never be on birth control. I've been given many dreams about my future husband for years. I'm now 20 and still a virgin. I've never even had a boyfriend because the dreams of my husband were so clear and specific but I'm excited for the day the Lord blesses me with him. I too learned to surrender my body to the Lord and trust Him not only with my body but with my future.

I really felt like god spoke directly to me to your words. I‘m also struggling with fully trusting in the Lord, but in those times when I am losing myself in my own thought, wishes and expectation I get a reminder of Jesus what is truly important for my life - trusting on the Lord as my „Waymaker“. Thank you for sharing your story! Although I have never been a fan of birth control, I did consider for the longest time freezing my eggs. Only for the sole purpose of having kids at an older age in case I got married after 30+. I really wanted that security. It wasn’t until God revealed to me in a video that he decides when to bless me with children. They also have an example, although we see eggs as just “eggs”, imagine putting your kids in a freezer for a very long time and only taking them out when you are ready for them. I felt sick to my stomach.

I love this! I got married a month ago...and I'm in the same boat, I was hoping to not get pregnant the first year of marriage especially since we haven't got to on a honeymoon or anything because of the pandemic. I always said I wanted to have at least 1 or 2 "kid free" trips since we haven't got to travel with each other yet. But at the same time leaving it in God's hands because He has a perfect plan for us...so no birth control for me either! I am curious if you track your cycle though, I always know (around when) I'm ovulating/most fertile lol

Fertility awareness method is excellent! We also wanted a year without pregnancy to build our marriage and have either abstained during fertile days or used a barrier method. So far it's worked!
