    Thanks for putting up this video! I'm a big fan of not just Cornwell's Saxon novels, but medieval history in general, so this stuff always fascinates me.

    Doing some research with the Singleton (Chungel Tun - stoney shore?) Family who may have had an ancient tade settlement on the River Wyre (may be the same Portus Setantiorum on Ptolemy's Map of the World) and seem to also have a connection with Uchtred (de Singleton). I believe a lot of power and influence came through trade and a good portion of the chaotic politics of this time revolved around securing that economic power. Although most attention is focused on Vikings and Saxons and the North Sea, its on the western coast and Irish Sea you find the source of legends around King Aurthur and Joseph of Arimathea which are the foundation blocks of English History.
