When I was younger my voice was pretty deep and i think I ended up making it higher by forcing myself to speak in a higher pitched voice so people could understand me better.

All great info. This is something I've really just become aware of in the last couple years. When I talk to people, especially after just meeting them, I try to make it a point to relax my vocal cords when talking to them, and let my words just roll out, as opposed to putting any extra force behind them. Obviously you don't want to be *too* relaxed about the way you do it, because you don't want to sound tired/drunk. But letting the air in your lungs deflate at a more natural rate as you're speaking, as opposed to pushing it out with more force, is a great way to do this, and will usually land you in the area you describe as 'rapport neutral'.

I came to see how to get my voice more relaxed, because I’ve noticed my throat feeling tight and voice sitting higher. However I listen this through because I haven’t heard anyone use this level of intuitive thinking. Keep making content. People are naturally declining in mental state, and as little of a thing as it is this is one step to make someone feel better about themselves. Good news I also managed to figure the reason my voice has been off. It all stemmed from my chest being forced into an concave position due the chairs I sit in.

To be fair, the actual tone of his voice-the range of notes he's hitting-aren't any lower than before. He just darkened the sound a little by dropping his jaw a little more and projecting with his chest. It's just a different resonance.

Hearing yourself is important! Record yourself speaking with your phone and hear it, no judgements. At first you will hate your voice, but this is just the beginning, after this first experiment you will start seeking perfection. If you add this to your routine good results will appear sooner.

I use the same tone my mother ~who didn't care much for me~ has always used with me. I'm older now and I won't put up with it. Now she won't talk to me. It worked & I feel mahvelous.

Basically forcing your voice is just talking while closing your throat this right here is skill because it becomes a everyday thing just the gravity of speech I’m 14 and have practiced reading Peoples emotions or Comfortability like the way they stand or Speak and have learned a lot it’s like a natural way of speech
I'm actually a big guy and I'm trying to be a good person and so I use a higher voice so the people I communicate with don't feel so intimidated and feel more free to talk to me

I have a natural soft voice, I am not much of a singer but I have always. Been placed as a baritone. Much of my adult life I worked as a case manager, working with people, a missionary and in those areas my softer voice was able to speak volumes more than I could ever project. In my career as a State Trooper it was seen as weakness by other officers, now as a State Felony Parole Agent it has come full circle. I have had to adapt to my natural strengths over the loud deep voice such as listening and often sharp direct responses when I gauge that I may not be able to hook this person in this particular conversation.
For soo long I have had to push myself to over perform to grasp the attention of those with greater command presence. I am very thankful for you making these videos and I am eager to apply/practice what I learn here.
