I made a mistake with the last video by neglecting to mention how to install cIOS. Video is now fixed and hopefully this didn't cause any issues to anyone trying to follow the tutorial.
Excellent tutorial, everything worked perfectly on my new wii. I was having trouble with wads, my wiimote would stop responding.but apparently I do not need them. There were other files that the other tutorial did not tell me about. I got the usbgx loader and backupmanager from there first but the rest did not work. Yours did and it worked perfectly. Thank you very much.
SDHC 8gb cards do work for this useful if you're wanting to run emulators on the wii. If you can, install Bootmii as boot2. This will allow the Wii to boot directly to Homebrew channel, so if you're using it for Gamecube games or only homebrew, you don't need a wiimote.
Thanks for the video, it worked perfectly on both my white gamecube compatible Wii and black non-gamecube compatible Wii. I used a 4 GB SDHC card without any issues. I also used an 8 GB USB flash drive to try out the games and it worked well.

I have a wii stored away in the closet I've hardly ever used that I was gifted last year, only played wii sports and mario kart on that thing (the mario kart disc got damaged unfortunately) besides me being a huge zelda and nintendo fan I've never been able to find a place that sells wii games in my area. I'll definitely get to softmodding it to enjoy the extensive wii library and relive some old gamecube games, and even some I never had the chance to play.
@@killinallmusic6193 yea you can put gba nes snes and sega emulators pretty easily you can get channel installers for the emulators amd have em on your home screen there are detailed walkthrus with the links to all the stuff you need in the description
Note to anyone following this guide: You DO NOT need to format your hard drive to FAT32. Only the SD card. USBLoaderGX recognizes NTFS drives and i actually played Wii games on my 2TB NTFS drive.

IMPORTANT!!: I almost gave up after games would start to load from the external HDD but then blank screened or got stuck at the wrist strap message. Tried 4 different external HDD's no joy. BUT!!, for one last try I used my main PC backup drive (left it as is), a silicon power 2TB USB3 formatted to NTFS and all my "backed-up" games works flawlessly :) :) ,very happy now. So if it don't work for you just keep trying different external HDD's until it does (none of the 8 USB thumb drives I tried worked no matter how I formatted them.) Also I completed the mod procedure with a 256MB SD card from an old digital camera.

I got a used Wii from a friend a couple of days ago, modded it and bought some 3rd party Gamecube controller today. Wii games work and I'll try GC now (Wii has the controller ports). Thank you for this guide, it was a big help. I had to install d2x cIOS v10 beta 52 with base 56 (instead of 57 like in the video) and used that instead of beta 53 for games to load. At least I assume it was beacause of that.
DerTypDerVideosGuckt there’s an app called priiloader and it gives your Wii the best brick protection possible if you have it installed all you do while the Wii is in boot process is hold the reset button down
This tutorial was much more clear then the others, so thank you! however, When I try to load a game it doesn't load and I have to turn the wii off and then my game disappears when I open the loader again, to which I have to do all the steps for wii backup manager again... 0:52 - Not true, you can buy the Nintendo Wii U GameCube Adapter/Mayflash one should work to. Plug it into the USB-Port 1 respectvily if you look from the back into the left one (the right one is USB-Port 0): Get "Nintendont" and tada you can use a GameCueb Controller and playing GCN games, I'm not sure but a Classic controller should work to instead of a GCN Controller + Adapter
I followed all of the steps carefully, and it keeps giving me the error when I try and load the game on my Wii via Nintendont, 'Could not be initiated'.
WiiBackupManager is not working the same for me as it does in this video. I may have made a mistake. But there's no way to know because that section was blazed through. It's like dude was in a huge hurry to finish this tutorial. Take it down a notch

I bought the drive you had in the link, it only gets recognized in the USB port(USB1) nearest the middle of the Wii, but wont recognize in the USB port(USB0) you show in the video... only thing is, the Loaders read the games on the drive when the drive is connected to the one nearest the middle(USB1), but when I try launching them it just goes back to the main Loader screen after a few seconds

@Zyzz it works perfectly. Yes you can play downloaded roms easily. But make sure you do everything as the video says. Also make sure that your version of wii is compatible with it.
if anybody else is having an issue where there wii will freeze when downloading a game, try deleting everything off your drive using windows, then plug it back in. Might of just been luck, but this worked for me nicely.

Hi, I've installed the 2 cIOS as shown. But I can't load USB games. When I try to load a USB game I get a blackscreen, my controller disconnects and the Wii either does nothing and stays on the black screen, returns to USB loader or just restarts. Any help?
one thing thats a bit confusing and im just winging it here because ive done some modding with other devices previously and dont run into alot of problems. what is the folder structure when you follow your instructions step by step i end up with several "apps" folders, one for d2x-cios installer and one for USBLoaderGX. Should i be formatting the sd card after each step? i didnt because i assumed i would possibly need to go back and retry steps in case i made a mistake or forgot something. im guessing its ok then to format after each step
My USB has only 16 GB of memory on it, so is there a way to transfer the game from the USB to the Wii so that you can uninstall it on the USB but it's still there in the Wii?

Wiimodlite, look it up, put it in your apps and run it from homebrew channel, put your .wads in "wads" folder on sd card, install the wads in the software, may have to change ios, i donf know about that

Hey man im having a lot of issues with the game launchers. It seems that after about 15 mins of playing all games become unstable and the wiimote stops working, and sometimes the games soft lock, and get stuck while loading. This happens with Wiiflow, C USB Launchers but never with nintendont. Does this happen to anyone else at all?

Instead of the external drive, you can buy a USB SD card adapter. I put a 256gb SD card in the adapter with all my gamecube games and it works... I'm having trouble with Wii games though. They just don't appear and I don't know why.

You can use high capacity SD cards for this. I just did it with a 64 GB SD. You just need to install separate software to format the SD card since Windows will not format a high capacity SD card to FAT or FAT32.

Your flash drive isn't supported by the software. Running the game off the drive will be fine, so just look up a wbfs file for it and put it on the drive.
i tried so many times in so many different ways but it is always one of two, either the hdd don't ititialize or i end up with a black screen when i try to start any game...
In USB Launcher GX I can see the games I have in the SD (connected in the USB stick). Already downloaded the cover art. But when I try to load a game in launch menu of each game, it always resets to Wii Menu :(((

Can you still launch Gamecube games through the Disc Channel? I never got to install DIOS MIOS because last time I checked, you could only launch Gamecube games through the USB Loarder if you install it, even with the disc.

for some reason usb loader won't pick up my usb thumbstick, wii mod lite picked it up but I can only rarely get past the usb initialization with it.

actually, you can use sdhc cards just fine, but it has to be 32 gb or lower. (You can partition a bigger sd card to work just fine).

So you need to keep the SD card inserted at all time and load USB Loader everytime you want to play a game from USB or do you install USB Loader once?

You actually can use High capacity SD's they just have to be formatted to FAT32. theres an app called guiformat that you can do it with.

What do I do if I don’t want to get wbfs? I’m want to play mario bros wii which is way smaller than 4gb

His Wii's disk drive broke and yeah... Not gonna pay R1500ZAR to replace that.
I am able to load games onto USB and play using USB Loader GX but I cannot rip games. it freezes at certain percentages. do you know how to fix this issue?

@Jose M I am using a fat32 64 gb flashdrive with 1 partition. It has a wbfs folder and a games folder for gc. this what you meant?

I actually used an SDHC 16GB card and it's working so far, I don't know if other people have problems or it's just the black Wii has different hardware crap, idk.
If you are using the Letterbomb, any SD cards up to 32 GB in capacity work.

Just gonna suggest adding Wiimmfi, which allows you to play on a custom Nintendo WFC like server.

update: i know got it, i just had to move something but now i get the "failed to initialize usb device storage" whenever i wnat to add games , is there something i can do ?
You can use high capacity SD cards for this. I just did it with a 64 GB SD. You just need to install separate software to format the SD card since Windows will not format a high capacity SD card to FAT or FAT32.

Can someone please help me: I have done everything right, and tried 2 different usb drives (usb 3 and usb 2/3) and when I try to install a game, it just goes straight to 100 and stops. Can someone please help
Your flash drive isn't supported by the software. Running the game off the drive will be fine, so just look up a wbfs file for it and put it on the drive.

what do i do if when i click start on a game, i get a black screen
i tried so many times in so many different ways but it is always one of two, either the hdd don't ititialize or i end up with a black screen when i try to start any game...

In USB Launcher GX I can see the games I have in the SD (connected in the USB stick).
Already downloaded the cover art. But when I try to load a game in launch menu of each game, it always resets to Wii Menu :(((

@@kleinklauwotje yes. Changed the USB pen Drive with 128gbs micro SD, for an external 320gbs HDD...

Lot's of fun while isolating and social distancing. I was trying to download my games and only a few work. The rest crash or freeze partway through. Ideas?
Nevermind. Found a solution. Just downloaded an earlier version of USB Loader GX. Working fine
Can you still launch Gamecube games through the Disc Channel? I never got to install DIOS MIOS because last time I checked, you could only launch Gamecube games through the USB Loarder if you install it, even with the disc.
