I’m kinda with you there. Don’t get me wrong, a little love never hurts a story, but at the same time, you shouldn’t just shove it into a story and use it to the point that you forget the main focus of the story. I think that’s part of why some fans are so upset. They started watching for the romance, not the giant robot.

I understand all of your points. But with Adam? There was SOOOO much hype about him. Even from the writers. I’m not saying I’m going to threaten anyone here, but we deserve to have a living Adam! They said we would meet Adam in season 7, but, technically, we didn’t. We only got a short flashback, and his name on a plaque. If you didn’t read all the blogs about it, you wouldn’t even know they were in a relationship! All of your points make sense, and I totally back you up on them. Although I don’t like a lot of things happening with certain characters, and as much as I wish klance was cannon, I’ve never thought about threatening others. I think the fandom really needed this.
I think people are only upset about Shiro and Adam because it was announced and hyped up ahead of time. At comic con they said "hey Shiro is gay and that's gonna be part of season 7." Then Adam was in one scene (a good scene, imo, I liked that their relationship wasn't all perfect sunshine and roses but felt like a real relationship going through problems), and I was interested to see where it went from there. Maybe a great reunion scene where Adam realizes Shiro became this amazing hero who fought aliens and had all these crazy adventures, I don't know. But nope he just kinda died offscreen and that's the end of that I guess. It's just disappointing, really. If they didn't announce it ahead of time people might not be as mad.
As I said on Twitter, I don't understand the hate. I have only seen 3 episodes so far and I don't have an issue with Shiro whatsoever. I'm more concerned about the Paladins saving the universe with Voltron.
RodimusPrimal that’s what the show is about, I use to do a lot of shopping when I was younger, and a little today tbh, and even though there was no twitter and Instagram , i never felt to personally attack a crew or fan of my favorite shows because I knew it wasn’t real and left it at that

The hate mostly comes from shippers using the “bury your gays” trope to complain about ships. I’ve literally seen people make art work of Lance and Keith complaining about these things, and I know for a fact that most of those are done by Lance x Keith shippers, cause why the fuck else would they be there? Shippers literally ruined this fandom, and they ruin most fandoms.

You’re the hero that the Voltron fandom needed. Very refreshing to see some positivity. Remember: THE SHOW IS ABOUT SPACE ROBOT LIONS! SHIPPING IS FINE! BUT IT’S NOT ALWAYS A GUARANTEED CANON! And you are absolutely right about the marketing. It was not cool for them to hype it up so much, but you are also right that the writers and cast and crew have nothing to do with the marketing. Just... just don’t send death threats to people. And don’t jump to conclusions. Maybe there will be more development for Adam or Shiro and Adam next season. You can’t write it off entirely until the show is over. You never know what the writers are going to do next. But you sir, just got a new subscriber.
I'm apart of the LGBT community and yeah, I think representation is really important, but it shouldn't have the show revolve around it (unless its a coming out movie or something like Love Simon). I'm a real big Klance shipper, but if they don't get together, who cares? That's not the focus of the show

So true :) I'm also a Klance shipper but I've been really ashamed with how Klance shippers have handled it not being canon, and like this video said, we are all just people who should be kind to one another and respect each other's fandoms and ships, and friendship comes first. I literally just want my team to be happy, and yeah, Adam deserved WAY more screen time, but I'm not surprised. It sucks and I can't even imagine how Shiro must be feeling right now (come on, we're all emotionally attached to these characters now, don't even try to deny it), but it was reasonable and realistic. Adam said he wouldn't wait for Shiro, and stayed true to his word-he died while attempting to defend the Garrison base from the first wave of Galra cruisers. He died fighting for what he loved-Earth. This show doesn't need to revolve around relationships to be amazing-it already is. It's like Keith said-we were all brought here for a reason, the friendships and bonds these paladins have formed is wonderful, and we can just keep it at that. All for platonic love and friendships, say ayyy!!!!

-Hunk's badassery. YES. My beauteous boi finally got a moment in the sun, like the literal ray of sunshine that he is. He has had so much potential, and in the last two seasons the showrunners have finally decided to use it. Thanks, guys!!
- DING DONG, THE WICKED SENDAK IS DEAD. And his demise-er (yes I am aware that's not an actual word, but I just didn't want to say killer) was incredibly fitting, too. Looks like Keith finally got to finish his Season 1 battle with him.
-ROMELLE. I just..yeppers..need I even elaborate? Yeah, her storyline is a slight mix of forced and cliche, and yeah, she's kinda underappreciated, but that doesn't change the fact that she's awesome. She's funny, smart, actually a relatable character, who after being trapped under Lotor's power doesn't have a clue what's actually happening, and even after losing her brother has managed to remain strong.
-I don't know if you guys noticed, but Lance (and yes, showrunners, I realize you guys will never see this but Lance is a great, sweet character who deserves love and credit so if you could make him more than a rebound chick next season that would be GREAT, he is not the "dumb one", and I was furious when a lot of the team treated him like trash in some earlier episodes of Season 7, he is caring and kind and protective and DAMMIt I'm getting off track again) has a sister named VERONICA (whom I believe he mentioned in season four), who helped the Galaxy Garrison fight against Sendak and his cronies. So she's badass, and I expected nothing less.
-We finally see the origins of Keith and Shiro's relationship, a strong love arc within the show, whether it's platonic or romantic is up to you. This is sweet and I love the provided backstory, it was like a part 2 to the flashbacks Keith experienced on the back of the giant space whale.
-We meet Colleen Holt again for more than a span of two minutes. And all I have to say is FINALLY.

yes I do agree with you. We are better than this. I honestly was mad about adam being killed off but I don't go out of my way to threaten the VLD cast like some of the fans in this fandom. Just be thankful that they create a show that you can enjoy.
And nobody should threaten you either on the way you express how you feel. Its your opinion and if they don't like it then that's on them. In fact you just earned a new subscriber. And that would be me. So thank you for this video and keep up the great work.

Its sad but some people are too lost in their own ships that they dont really realize how great this season was. Sure it may have some problems like any show but seriously this season was amazing in my opinion. Its fun to ship people heck i do it all the time, but theres a limit to how crazy people should go to say the season sucks because of it. So many people worked really hard to give this season to us so we should appreciate them for this amazing animation. And the writers have done a good job more or less to try to flesh out their large cast.If youre letting your own fantasy of who is shipped with who get in the way, and want the story to be a certain way then i dont know what to tell you. Anyways thats just me and everyone is entitled to their own opinion.

A lot of people are honestly watching it for the wrong reasons. I'm a part of the Tumblr fandom (not sure how I still endure it TBH), and a lot of people admit that they got into the show because of Keith/Lance fanart. So they go into the show already with tunnel vision. Which upsets me, because it's honestly such a great show and while I do like to ship characters I'm also a huge sci-fi fan and we haven't gotten a sci-fi cartoon like this, ever probably. I feel so grateful to have a show like this that's animated so beautifully and has a wonderful and diverse cast of characters. I don't like when romance is the main focus anyway, I like to ship on the side of bigger things that are going on. That's more interesting. I wouldn't watch Voltron if it was just a teen romance show. It was hard enough to get through those parts in Korra lol
Yeah I was mostly commenting on their response on how people treat ships in Voltron, not how Adam was specifically handled. I DO think Adam's death really came off as "bury your gays" which is why a lot of people are having a negative reaction to it. I hope they will give it more closure next season, because it was brushed over very quickly.
I think I'm one of the few viewers of an older demographics and I watched the first season because of it was drawn by the same crew who did Legend of Korra and I think some animators from Avatar. I was expecting it to be something as goofy as Power Rangers or even the old Voltron series. I have not been disappointed. So much care is put into each character in the show. The plot becomes a bit lazy here and there. Music is awesome and I'll be looking to buy the soundtrack when the series ends. Animation is great when it is. Overall, I've enjoyed the series.
I do my best to not let the fandom ruin the show. It humors me a lot. When it comes to shipping, I'll laugh because I know Voltron is not a show to explore one's sexuality (at least not to a great extent) and it's funny when people want to see characters with no chemistry hook up. I think the Lotor and Allura was a big statement on how that exact scenario can back fire. I understand that some young viewers want representation and fanservice in their shows. But it's not needed. I'm Hispanic but I don't feel represented by Lance. I fall under Hunk's cowardly but courageous behavior. I have Pidge's humor. I can be serious like Keith. And I have some wisdom like Shiro since we've both been around for a while. The way each character projects themselves (not physically) is all the representation I need. Fanservice is bit mediocre. When it comes to animation, a lot of the plot will already have been established. So requesting the animators to deviate their plans for fanservice is futile. A lot of the fans don't know how to create content therefore why should they determine what the animators do? If you don't like the direction the show is going, don't watch it.
I love how you can relate to all the Paladins and crew members. To me, that's enough to keep me aboard their adventures to save the universe.

I am both disgusted and disappointed with people sending death threats and being a bully towards the people who made this show happened. The voice actors/actress who put lots of hard work just so you could feel as if they are showing emotions too. If you had any problem how the show is, then stop watching it! That simple right? No. Because today we now have people who don't know how to grow up and decides to send death threats. People who do that are not safe to be with and can be called the cops on. Which they are not.
I just hope we all behave and be good fans by supporting the crew of Voltron and creators by showing our love and support. Everyday I re-watch or watch Voltron. Because this show for many years has helped me with my depression! Yes it's true. But seriously with all the bullying and death threats needs to stop! Make them feel loved and safe to be so they can attend things with fans or do more stuff!
Even people need to calm down with shipping characters with other characters. But please!! Respect the creators/crew when it comes to making the show as their way. Not your way. You do not animate for millions and millions people on Netflix. You don't go on a schedule to voice act, etc. I don't even do that! But I respect them so much! We should too.
When you love something and it does not go your way.. Don't take it out on others.
Don't make others feel like they are not wanted or not loved.
Please take the time today and go compliment your favorite character or least character voice actor/actress on their social media.

Unfortunately, the people who need to hear it are deaf to criticism.There exist people on the internet who are convinced they are the most important human beings on the planet and further that if anything makes them even slightly uncomfortable then they deserve to shriek and thrash and stomp their widdle feet until they feel special again. (In the name of doing additional damage to your faith in humanity [because I'm an evil sadistic SOB like that] I have it on good authority the vast majority of these people are biological adults, college age or older.) I've dealt with so many of these oxygen thieves and overgrown children, that my reaction to literally every situation like this is: People are mean on the internet? This is my shocked face. Yes! The creators themselves said that romance wasnt the main point of the story and it really mever was. But the fans made it that way. The entire show was more focused on the adventures and character development, which is what I think made this show so good. Just like they said, romance wasnt the main idea but things can evolve. It's okay to go shipping characters but dont try to force your "story" in the creator's story.

This is so true. The fandom needs to stop forcing the LGBT story line onto the story. The writers know how to make the story. Shiro is confirmed to be gay. there you go. Lance and keith? not so much. We don't need to see an ongoing lgbt story line for the show to be good- in fact, its barely necessary at all. I personally think season 7 and six were the best ones yet, and if we get more of Shiro's story then yay, but if it not it wouldn't matter- He keeps moving forward, and so should we.

Rifat Chowdhury Keith and Lance have slowly developed in their feelings towards each other. They seemed to hate each other, developed into good friends...why couldnt that develop further? Allura, meanwhile Lance flirted with in the very beginning, acted normally towards and only in the last seasons began showing feelings for, pretty much out of the blue.
So officially, Lance liked Allura, stopped for a while and started liking her again. how is that strange? Keith and Lance on the other hand are good friends. Once again, nothing romantic between them. Unlike Lance and Allura. Writers shouldn't be forced to make characters gay by the fandom, when they're clearly friends. Like the guy in the video said, being best friends doesn't mean they're gay.

I do not agree with the way that the Voltron crew marketed season seven but sending death threats and scaring them is insane. I get that there wasn't a shiro Adam meeting or klance but we have to remember that this is a cartoon it is rated tv-y7 they can't put all of the things we see written in fan fictions. The show will never be up to everyones standards because everyones standards are different... its just the way shows work.

I personally like Klance, hate Allurance (don't judge meh, it's just not my thing), and I don't ship Sheith NEAR as much as I used to, considering the fact that I can see them both in a platonic, brotherly relationship AND a romantic one. I don't know, my shippers' feelers are all over the place. :P.

it did make me sad to not see much of adam and shiro, and i personally felt that allura's possible crush on lance was a bit out of nowhere, but im totally not going to threaten anyone who thinks otherwise and i loved season 7, i binge-watched all of it in one sitting! I would love klance to be cannon and hope that shiro gets some adam flashbacks, but i trust that the crew of Voltron will deliver some amazing space kid shenanigans and heart-wrenching moments that #WeAreAllVoltron will enjoy. Thank you so much for making this video

I don't think the Alura thing is out of nowhere. Lance has been acting a lot less creepy and dumb around her and a lot more heroic and competent. With his bullshit not annoying her so often she's much more able to see his positive qualities.

I do have to agree with the fact that Lance has matured and thus no longer annoys Allura. However, I feel that she hasn't shown enough if any previous attraction to him to warrant a sudden super blush moment to his presence. On a more personal note, I am a definite Klance shipper and have never seen Allura and Lance getting together both for Klance reasons and also a lack of evidence to support a romantic connection between the two other than Lance's one-sided crush. I think they could definetly become closer friends now that Lance's more positive qualities have arissen, but personally I don't think it would get much further than that.
But Allura had started to change how she sees/acted around Lance in season 6 (sure, her relationship with Lotor was more of a focal point but she was already being more friendly with him). And didn't the mice tell her what he'd told them? Sometimes, when we know how sincere someone feels for us, we start to see this person in a different light. He was also the one to comfort her after Lotor's betrayal.
I used to be a huuuuuge Klance shipper (I'm a sucker for love/hate relationships) but with the last two seasons, Shallura starts making more sense to me.

To all the fans who are not happy with Allura x Lance and Acxa x Keith:
Acxa x Keith:
This was expected in my book. There were a lot of signs leading up to it. Will they officially be together in the end? I don’t know. Right now, this pairing is bit one sided since Acxa is showing interest while Keith is not. Keep in mind though that Keith has not shown interest in romance at all through the series. Also, he still has a long way to go when it comes improving his interpersonal skills. This ship would need some time to become official in my opinion. That being said, I can see there being hints to Acxa X Keith definitely happening in the future.
Allura x Lance:
Lance has been flirting with Allura from the moment he met, and she watched him flirt with many other girls as well, hence the nickname “lover boy Lance”. This why Allura did not show interest in Lance. She did not know that he was serious about her. In fact, I don’t believe Lance himself knew how much he loved Allura until she started getting close to Lotor. For Allura’s part, she might have reciprocated Lance’s feelings had she known they were real sooner, but her heart was already with Lotor by the time she found out. With this all being said, I don’t believe Lance would be a rebound if he ended up with Allura, and I don’t think Allura’s interest in Lance is sudden. I think the two needed to take a journey before real love could blossom. Sometimes a couple needs to take a journey to “find” each other. Lance had some maturing to do. Now that he has matured and Allura realizes that he really does love her, she can work on sorting out how she feels about him in return.

I don't remember who tweeted it, but a member of the crew said the show can be interpreted in many ways depending on the viewer. The interpretation led to several ships such as Klance, Pidgance, Heith, Shieth, etc.
I love all the characters in the show, the Paladins, the Villains, Bob, Kosmo, etc. I don't believe that the hype was correct, but besides from the slight bait from the marketing team, I had no other problem with the series.
I love this video, because it's managed to express my thoughts on the mass amount of hate.
I love Voltron so much, and I hate to see how toxic the fandom is becoming. Hopefully, all will settle once s8 airs.

To be honest, seeing Tumblr after season 7 really did make me sad; I understand the frustrations, but it would really be nice if we could be less...violent...about it. I mean, I love this show. If you're watching, surely some part of you likes the show too. So why not love the creators back? In the world of cartoons, this has been especially well done. And, hey, if you don't like the direction, write a story of your own. Personally, that's the way I like to see it. I take all the things from stories I read/watch, what I like and what I don't like, and use it as inspiration. But when I am just watching something, sometimes it's nice to just simply enjoy it.
But, well, that's just me. Thing is, I think paying attention to the message of the show is a splendid point, actually. Teamwork, and getting along despite your differences. And--like yes, what we saw wonderfully at the beginning of season 7--when you do fight, the best thing to do is make up again. Like, I'm supposing, we should, right? :)

Sure, I'm a bit peeved they killed Adam off but to send threats to the cast and crew? Absolutely atrocious! And also, back when I was getting into fandom we did not demand our ships to be canon. That's why we have fanfiction and fanart, so we can make our own stories and let the writers tell theirs. So thank you again. I agree with your point of view. I can see both sides of this and yes, mainly the Lgbtq+ side of the fandom finally got the representation of them in the show. Well they were angry because it was censored from the original. I can understand that as well. But going as far as threatening the cast and creators is wrong. Well I’ve been in a lot of fandoms and this fan base is nothing like the hetalia fandom; from what I’ve heard that was far more toxic with constant shipping wars, and hate arguments against people who ship certain ships. I don't understand... Since when some community should have their representation in a tv show? What if I'm religious, i don't see religious people, i should be offended? HydeKunaga I think you have those thoughts because you're already represented in certain ways on media. You already see relationships which are just like yours or characters that seem just like you. My point is, when you find characters that can be related to you or some characteristics of who you are, this can change the game.

I completely agree that people are taking the shipping too far. Romance has never really been a part of the show aside from Lance's girl obsession, so there is no need for hate over a romance that is only a fabrication. There is nothing wrong with that fabrication though, I'm a die hard shipper myself, but I know when it is relevant to a plot or when it's just my fantasies. There's fan art and fanfiction for what's lacking in the actual TV show.
I feel that just having an openly gay male who is seen as masculine and what most people would assume is straight, is already representation enough. Now before anyone from the LGBTQ+ community kills me, I'm bisexual, and I'm happy knowing that my favorite character, probably of all time, is similar to me in some way. Not every show can be as happy go lucky as Legend of Korra or Adventure Time with their LGBTQ+ characters. This show is about an ongoing war in the universe that is now taking over Earth. There are more things to worry about than the sexual orientation of a character. And it's completely realistic that Adam would have died. He was a part of the Garrison and if he was anything like Shiro, he would have absolutely fought as hard as he could, and his death makes perfect sense to me. It also shows the severity of the situation that Earth is in, like they did with Hunk's family, and that was the main purpose of his death for the writers.
People need to realize that there's more to a plot than someone's sexuality or someone's ship. This show is so much more than that, and I stand by their decisions completely.

Honestly, my friend is a Klance shipper (like, she dies inside when there's even a hint of it), but she does accept the fact that it may never be canon. And after Season 7, she (along with me, for that matter) just wants to see the show end happily. The show is amazing, but the fandom goes too far sometimes. (And not just in Voltron. I've made my way through some pretty toxic fandoms)
I have literally never seen a hint of a Lance for Keith romance in the entire run of the show. I was completely dumbfounded when I heard it was even a thing. Like i thought Keith Acxa was so blatantly obvious from the first scene they met. I thought Lance Allura was obvious, though possibly unrequited. I think theres a few arguments for Pidge and Hunk (or at least Pidges dad thinking so.) I could even possibly see Keith Shiro. But never did it even occur to me that Lance Keith was even a possibility.
Honestly these death threats towards the cast/crew and fans HAVE GOT TO STOP. It's turning us into monsters like when Zarkon was overexposed to too much quintessence!! I like this show because it's about teamwork and the love/compassion for one another. Like you said, there were some parts of the season and/or show that disappointed me and the fandom as a whole, but that's just life and we have to live with it. Like Lance says: "Sometimes what we want isn't what we get." and he's right! I'm just so happy Voltron came into my life:) I'm happy for what we got otherwise.

I do agree that Adam should have gotten some more development, but let’s be realistic here-in a war Situation people die and Adam went out fighting for his planet. If he had more develop that moment would have felt a little more powerful to the gravity of situation that people we love can risk their lives fighting to protect our home. I am curious to see if he comes into play at all in season 8 and how Shiro will grieve. It would be interesting to see Shiro completely break down emotionally since so far he really hasn’t gotten a chance to process because of you know, nonstop war and destruction.
I knew beforehand that Shiro was gay and when I watched the season it did not occur to me even once that Adam was Shiro's boyfriend. And until I watched this video, I didn't know. Wtf.
Don't get me wrong, this shit was amazing and quite the emotional rollercoaster, but I wanted to see more of Adam and Shiro? I mean, even if it was one cute lil scene with them sharing a moment, that's all I need, truly. But the fact that they literally did nothing of the sort is upsetting. Maybe they can make up for it in season 8 with a flashback after all this backlash they're getting. I mean, I don't think it was a bad idea to kill off Adam, but I just wanted some cute shipping material... Come on. However, yes, shipping shouldn't be the main source of backlash against the creators of the show. I.e. klance shippers getting their panties in a twist and sending death threats to the staff. Not giving fans what was promised to them, though... That's pretty shitty. And I'm not saying it was the writing team's fault. Obviously, advertising went about it all wrong and now the entirety of the Voltron staff are paying for it. If you're going to lash out at anyone for this, go to them. But preferably don't lash out at all. It's just not worth all the negativity and hatred and death threats. How can fans that do this call themselves true fans? You love something so much you're willing to legitimately threaten an innocent person that just wanted to make you happy? Despicable.
I actually really enjoyed this season! It was one of my favorite to be honest. I think the emotions they showed were great and I loved when different characters used their bayard at the same time. That was just amazing

THANK YOU FOR THIS! Yes, many fans are angry about Adam's limited screen time, and they have lashed out. It's awful. You point out critical details in this video, but most importantly, the fans think that if they try hard enough, they will get what they want in the show. That's not true. The biggest example is Klance. Whenever I talk to my voltron friends about Klance, I say that their relationship is more brotherly than romantic. You're message about the writers having power over the characters is important and people should understand that.
Jennifer Peisner klance scenes are paralleled with het scenes portrayed as romantic -- allurance's "bonding moment", krolia and texas, etc. don't start with that.
While your entitled to your own opinion about Klance and I can't agree with you on that, I do agree with everything else.
I totally agree I get that Klance is a huge ship in the community but I don't see it as a romantic relationship I better see it as two guys having s strong bond, I can't say that many will agree but I personally don't understand why people who ship Klance often attack everyone just because something didn't go their way.. I’m a fan, brought in by my partner who is a long time fan of giant robot cartoons and he’s been getting me more and more into the genre. I love how accessible Voltron is, and I have been really enjoying every season. We try (and fail) to pace ourselves when a season drops 😂
Great video mate, you’ve hit every nail on the head. Cast and crew DO NOT deserve the hate piled on them, they’ve worked hard to bring us the best quality content they can produce. And like you said, we make mistakes. We all fuck up. It is fine to have an opinion that something wasn’t great or even outright sucked, but when you’re screaming said opinion over others who genuinely enjoy the show, and wishing harm on the creators, that’s where we are gonna have some problems. Don’t like it? Don’t watch it. Better yet, make something of your own, and see how much criticism you get. By then you may understand how these poor people feel, and learn about compassion.

I am a klance shipper and yes I was a disappointed when I started to see that Allura started to have feelings towards Lance. This is such an amazing show. I can’t believe we are only getting one more season. I wish it could go on for at least another year. I just don’t know what I’m going to be looking forward to next year. Nothing in a long time have I gotten this excited about to see every time. The last show that did this for me was back in 2001.
I really needed to hear something like this. Since Friday, the only thing I have seen are publications of complaints and more complaints for the seventh season. Even this morning I found out they are organizing a massive complaint against Dreamworks and Netflix.
For me the show is perfect as it is, I hate to know about all the harassment that the crew is receiving. I hope that all complaints do not force them to modify the pre-established for Voltron. There are still many people who enjoy the show as it is, and we are grateful for the work that has been done by the Voltorn crew.

I am dissapointed with some things of this season (like how mean Lance was treated this season and how much he lacks of character development) but I am also dissapointed with the fandom, because some fans act like the show is theirs, like that their ideas for the season and show are all going to be done, but when things don't happen as they want to, they become toxic and aggresive, and that is just not right.
I hope that in the next season things calm down in some way...

soffirechange i agree it just isn't right everyone has their own ideas but it's the teams show even more than it is the fans they're the ones who go to the trouble of creating it its what made me sad about the lapidot amedot stuff in su they threatened lauren zuke until i think she quit or at least deleted a lot of social media and that's just down right dispicable to do in general, let alone over a fictional ship. Honestly if you don't like it you can complain if that makes you feel better but that and especially deatb threats aren't going to change things just upset people and make them stop wanting to do the kind things that they do for the fans. :( They may like to get fans involved but it's still the writer's and the team's show even more so than it's the fans they make it for the fans which is why they like to try to cater to them a little but that doesn't mean that the fans control the show either and getting so salty as to be that toxic just isn't cool. For example I really liked Adam I wanted to see more of his character and I was really hurt he died like that, I wanted to see he and Shiro have a reunion and then he got vaporized in a plane. Honestly though that's what AU's are for, if you don't like a ship or don't like what happened in a story read or write a fanfiction where the outcome is different don't be so glued to the cannon that you want to rip somone to shreds over one thing that happened because that isn't cool. It's not worth it and it brings a lot of negativity that doesn't need to be in the fandom.

See, I recently got into this fandom (as in I watched all 7 seasons in the span of two weeks or less), and because of that I may not necessarily truly understand the angle some fans are coming at. However, blackmailed and delivering death threats to staff of VLD is absolutely disgusting.

Like, there is so much left for season 8. Shiro being able to finally properly mourn, not just Adams death, but everything he himself as gone through. Keith helping the blades. Seeing more of how Hunk acts with his family (because it's just adorable). LANCES PAST/ CHARACTER ARC!!!!!
My only one thing I didn't like about season 7, was the the thing between Allura and Lance. Don't get me wrong, I have nothing against this ship and I realize that it's probably going to end up being end Canon, however during this season, those moments just felt forced, and a little unnecessary.

This fandom needs to see the show for what it really is. Take the visuals for example! If you look at season one to now, the graphics have gotten so much better and so much more pleasing (I mean look at my boy keith in s6 cause o H-) You can tell the voice actors are into this when they make even the shortest sentences full of emotion. You can tell the whole crew is passionate about making a show for not just kids but adults to enioy. We should support them, not send them death threats. They need and deserve recognition and love, and I hope this fandom can stop fretting about ships and give them that love!
DaNkAnXiEtY Exactly!!! I get so sad when everyone looks past the animation and the plot line just to care about ships. The animation quality has gotten so good these past couple of seasons, I just wish that it would get the recognition it deserves.
I don't comment on videos much but you video deserves a comment. Thank you for your well thought out response to the backlash of season 7. It really helps with putting things into perspective for me. Which is something I've been struggling with doing for myself do to the amount of feelings I have for this show. Due to these feelings i have had its been hard for me to be a causal viewer of the show and enjoy it for what it is, A show about space and giant robots. These feelings also show how good the writing mostly has been that it has invoked the need to see something great turn into something amazing and flawless. But I know that is not possible for to be human is to be flawed. All in all these feelings are on me not the creators or the cast. I'm sad to hear that people are taking their feelings out on the people that helped create something they love. That is never okay. Thank you for speaking out against the hate.

This video is so important and I am so glad that it’s been made. I’m an avid klance shipper and I love it to death but that doesn’t mean that I should get upset and send death threats to the show runners or anyone who is apart of making Voltron, all just because they didn’t have any proper interaction or have shown any interest in each other. This show isn’t about ships, it’s about friendships and saving the universe.
I really don't understand why people do take ships so seriously,I mean I actually like shipping(i don't take part in shipping mind you) but this is just going overboard
Same, my main ship in the Voltron community is Klance and I love the ship, but canon wise I don't care who ends up with who or if anyone at all that matter, as long as they're happy. And that includes Shiro, who keeps going through so much misfortune to the point where he's gotten used to it. If your characters don't end up together, who cares? These characters are fictional, nothing they did actually happened. Voltron isn't about romance, it's a show about some teenagers risking their lives to save the universe piloting a giant robot made up of 5 other giant robots. Like someone said before, if you're watching Voltron for ships, you missed the point of the show completely.

Mel Mel:3 That's why I was mad about Allurance but not Heith and Adam. Allurance just didn't make any sense, and Lance deserved someone who loved him and would give him so much more than a girl who ignored his feelings since the start of the show after kissing someone else who turned out to be evil last season. And for me, I have the same reaction as the guy in the video about a character being gay. If they're gay, cool. If not, cool. I personally believe in the gay Keith theory, but I don't care if he's actually straight. As long as the characters are happy where they are and don't go through any stuff they didn't deserve in the end, I'm satisfied. If I don't like the ending, I have comics, animatics, artwork, and fanfiction to satisfy me instead. Whatever's canon stays as canon and whatever's fanon should stay there as well.
I'm not sure what possesses some people to go so far as to throw death threats and act so inappropriately towards the creators and voice actors. Its insane. I love the show, even if I dislike some parts. Its not okay, it never will be okay. Thank you for this video.
Caroline Elizer i hate to say it but the younger generation below us may be the cause of this. while playing some of my online games i’ve encountered people 8-14 that just act bizarre and not humanly. i’m not saying all children these days act like this but most of the ones i met have been.

Yes, Adam deserved much more screentime and I'm sincerely sad that he didn't make it, but am I going to threaten the crew? Or be pissed at them or different fans? No.
I ship Keith and Lance, as I find their dynamic very cute and some scenes to be romantic. Will I attack anyone if it doesn't become canon? No. I will still enjoy their dynamic and the ship.
Ships aside, this show is seriously something great, and it shows an amazing message. It is not about relationships and romance, it's about teamwork and doing what's right. This video captured that amazingly.
I'm bisexual and part of the LGBT+ community, and I agree that they hyped Adam's character up a lot for such short screentime, but I won't bash writers or crew for it. They know what they are doing, and this show is not written poorly.
I think they handled Shiro's relationship w/Adam and gave us a very good look into Shiro's motivations and what was tormenting him throughout the show. There was no "toxic masculinity", we understood what the relationship was and better yet... they left us wanting MORE of Adam's character (and his relationship w/Shiro) which is, at the end of the day, a FANTASTIC and misunderstood aspect of writing. The ability to make the viewers question and want more. I wish more people read books because I honestly feel that is an aspect of writing that goes unnoticed these days. The story was and continues to be amazing. Point blank and period.
Happy to sub! Upset I hadn't come across you sooner. This season has been my favorite season so far. After I watched it, I got online to see how many others enjoyed season. Imagine my surprise as I was greeted with seeing so much backlash and anger.
I saw great animation, twists I'd have never guessed, fantastic character development, some of the best action in the series to date, world building, fun new characters introduced, and more!
Where were the talks about the Garrison's stubbornness? How selfless Pydge's (Pidge? I always get confused on the spelling) dad is? Seriously, how he effortlessly stood down to let Shiro take the position of captain without missing a beat was just so good. The revelation that it *wasn't* Lotor in there! Just.. Lance's sister. Could she be more awesome? The journey to get back to Earth as a whole. Even The Feud! (What?! Seeing Zarkon like that was hysterical!).
Seeing such a lack of appreciation for the season we got, especially with how much longer it was compared to the last two seasons, was heartbreaking. I'm all for critical analysis, but do it based on the content itself! This season wasn't perfect by any means, but it was very entertaining. I don't really have a conclusion, just was speaking my mind a bit

okay. Voltron is not a show about romance, as stated. From my eyes, I expected to meet Shiros boyfriend, adam in season 7, as tweeted. I feel that people built up there expectations from that, therefor feeling ‘queerbaited’. It seems a bit childish. When a childs expectations arent met or they dont get there own way they get upset and mad. I feel this happend. People had expectations i dont know a whole series of shiro and adam making out. And when adam died, people where angered that their expectations werent met. On to shipping and stuff, i my self love shipping ill ship anyone haha, but this is just my personal opinion, i dont like my ships becoming canon strange right? I like them as my own, building up a universe snd to be honest, i couldnt care less who ships who, your all able to ship whoever you want (unless its incest ew)
So in conclusion, the toxic people in the voltron fandom need to grow up and realise not everything will go the way they want it to...
They didn't expect Shiro and Adam to be making out the whole season, they just expected Adam to be more than "Shiro's dead fiance". Saying they wasted Adam's character is a perfectly valid critique. However I do agree that this insulting and harassment of the staff was entirely uncalled for.

If they wanted us to feel "the loss of war" then why not kill off Sam? Or Matt? Or a character we actually know? Why do all the LGBT stories HAVE to end in tragedy? Frankly I'm tired of it, I wanted at least one cartoon besides Steven Universe where we could actually maybe be one of the ones that live happily ever after. But nope! We all die and the straight characters get whole episodes dedicated to reuniting with their loved ones! Gimme a break..

These were my exact thoughts, when watching the season I didn't feel queerbaited even after finishing it I didn't feel this way.
The show is about a war and people going through that, not people falling in love. Sure love does happen in war but it's not the main focus.

Like heck guys, I'm not sure if you're been paying attention to the show or not, because that's not the kind of thing it teaches.

PREACH. This needed to be said so much. There was a lot of things in s7 that I was disappointed with but there is no reason what so ever to attack and bully people over. Especially over ships. Yes I shipped Adam and shiro. Yes I wanted some representation. But this is war. Its totally understandable. And yes I ship klance. And yes I wanted more screen time. But this is the crew we’re talking about. They choose what happens and it’s okay if our ships aren’t canon. WE ARE BETTER THAN THIS.

Ahh, thumbs up for this video :) I was very disappointed to see people react the way they did... Ofc a bit more Adam would have been nice but it was still a great season! The whole plot with so many years passed, leaving the lions somewhere and not every family member being safe, it was realistic and exciting. It put some great power into the show. So... I think you are missing the bigger picture here. The people in the blown up buildings died, Adam's fellow pilots died, miss Sanda died... It doesn't matter if they are gay, bi, hetero, trans... they died and that's sad. The writers didn't decide on Veronica but on Adam dying. I like Adam and Shiro and it makes me sad that Adam died. Not because he is gay or because Shiro is my favo character and I like yaoi so I wanted to see more. No, it's because someone died trying to defend the planet he/she loved and it felt extra shitty because Sanda was warned beforehand. Don't think in terms as the gay guy dying or bury your gays but Adam loosing his life and Shiro being heartbroken but still strong enough to go on and help save earth. I mean, aren't we all equal as people? People dying is horrible, it doesn't matter if you are gay or not. Don't dishonor Adam like this. #WeAreAllVoltron
No, I think you are missing the bigger picture here. *None* of the loved ones of the other main characters died. Sure, lots of anonymous people died, plus an admiral whose only role to was demonstrate that she was too stupid to handle the invasion. But did *any* of Pidge, Hunk's or Lance's family die? *No!* At the end of the episode, the Paladins *all* have loved ones gathered around them, *except* for Shiro, who is alone and has *nobody* except for his job. They dragged him back to life to fight (and satisfy Keith's codependency issues). But Shiro has no life of his own. He just works, fights and suffers. Alone.
Aaron Luedemann - You obviously do not understand the Bury Your Gays trope. By definition, you *have* to introduce a gay character into the story and then kill them off to fulfill the trope. That is *exactly* what VLD did with Adam. Shiro never even *mentioned* him until S7 and Adam's *one* appearance with Shiro is more about Shiro's declining health (basically, he had AIDS) and they barely make eye contact, much less demonstrate any of the affection you would expect from a couple. Then Adam is promptly killed off, even though the families of *every* other main human character survive the bombardment of Earth. Heterosexuality has its privileges. Survivial is just one of them. Romance is another.
I'm a gay woman and my main thoughts on Season 7 was wow, this is very Robotech in its feel. Especially when the Atlas transformed. I got a second thought it was the SDF-1!

TheQu33nBee I loved the Veritech like design of the planes and I also adored the Cyclone motorcycle/battle suit that was in s3 of Robotech. In the who Adam dying thing, well it's war and he was the last of his team to die. And if people don't like it, that's what fanfics are for! :-)
I love this video. It’s very well said. And sometimes when I hear about fans who are like this and just straight up attack innocent people whether if it’s a fan or the cast, it makes me realize how many insensitive people there are out there. It’s a show. Please support it for how it is. And I also love klance but just threatening and forcing the cast to write the show how the “fans” want in a way where it’s toxic for you and other people is straight up bullying.

And I'm very happy that Shiro is identified as gay. Maybe they're going to show more Adam but maybe Netflix or DreamWorks didn't like it. Idk... Just have to wait until the NYCC trailer for season 8 comes out. :)
