    I bought a 2011 LP560-4. Your comments are totally correct. I put 10k kilometers on my car in one year! NO issues.... Yes $100.00 cdn per fill up and yes it is expensive to operate but when I look in my garage, I pinch myself. Mine has normal seats and very comfortable!! Just love mine. I have heard all the comments about the 04-05 and your experience appears normal!

    My take on this is that the Gallardo is an entry level exotic, very popular with young TH-camrs. Its very hard to find a car that hasn't had but one or two owners. And then, even that can be a false tale. One Gallardo I passed on because it was 'rough" went thru FIVE other used car dealers before being bought by a private owner. That will not show on the CarFax BTW as the cars never get titled, just run on dealer plates. Lots of deferred maintenance in this scenario, It's easy, when you are young, to be caught up in the emotion of owning an exotic. Logic comes with maturity. Sayings like "There are no cheap Ferraris (or what ever exotic you like)" or "Buy the best car you can afford" ring true. You can afford to buy an exotic, but can you afford to own one? BTW: I have a trouble free '06 Gallardo.

      @sgfreak96  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I agree with your sentiment Dave. I always scout the car market and frequently see cars trading hands of dealerships and private owners. It’s easy to see deferred maintenance snowballing on cars like that for sure. My cars previous owner had it for three years. It’s important to know as much about a cars history as possible for sure. Enjoy your 06 car, sounds like a great driver!

    I think there are more issues with the 04-05 cars for sure. I've had an '07 G for a little over a year now and have only have one real issue, replacing gearbox speed sensors which was about $300ish. Clutch wear has also been good, have driven 5,000 miles in a year and the clutch has gone from 52% to 48% so at that rate I'll never have to replace it. I do agree that it is a 'violent' ride, and my wife hates how it feels (except for all of the attention we get lol). If you're worried about gas prices then...yeah, wrong type of car.

      Thanks for watching Marcus, appreciate it! Glad you are enjoying your 07, I hope it continues to treat you well! 1% of clutch wear or so per 1,000 miles is not bad at all! You’re driving it well. I miss the car for the attention and fun of sharing it with others a ton. It also made me smile like my 10 yr old self whenever I drove it (when it worked at least) lol. Is your car orange? I believe I see it in your profile picture.

      @@sgfreak96 I love the sound of it, I have a sweet Soul exhaust and test pipes and it is super loud. You have to keep it in Sport mode and keep it rolling so you don't slip the clutch much. I do feel like a big kid driving it, and I love the reaction from actual kids. They lose their minds so that's fun. I have done more self-maintenance on this car than I have any others I've owned. Most things are easy to access like spark plugs. My car is the pearl orange and I have some black wrap on the roof and in the back. My plan is to keep it for a couple more years and then upgrade to a Murci or newer Huracan. I did a full PPI on the car before purchasing, which I think is critical so you know you're getting a good car.

      @@GODOFLIQUOR To be honest, by 06-08 the pre-LP Gallardo's were truly sorted cars. I like mine and the only issue I have had was a clutch job, but that's not really an issue, it just hurts the bank $8k (Carbon Kevlar Clutch). Aside from that, it has been great, you have to drive these cars in sport mode in order to save wear on the clutch, also deleting the AWD really transforms the car. I understand about the Rolls Royce but the Tesla plaid is a very dull car that has no character whatsoever, owning a Tesla is literally like owning the latest phone... I had a P85D when it first came out for 18 months, 3 updates in the first 1 month of ownership during those updates the car was not operational. The average range was -220 miles and it would freak out when you hit over 200 miles on 1 charge. I really wanted to like the Tesla but I couldn't, It was quicker than my Gallardo for sure up to about 120mph but if you drive it hard you destroy the range. After a friend drove it who owns a lotus exige, he quickly noted that you could really feel the weight in the corners and it was just not engaging, no character, no soul. Getting rid of the Tesla was the best choice I made. But hey, horses for courses, I think people in this day and age are blinded by straight-line speed as opposed to the overall feel of the car. The Gallardo always puts a smile on my face... but when you own a high-end car like a Ferrari or a Lamborghini you have to pay to play, especially with the older cars like the 360 and the Gallardo.

      @sgfreak96  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Extremely jealous - I absolutely love the prelp superleggeras. I would say that is likely a more reliable car than mine being as it has the better transmission gearing, better tcu tuning, and overall will perform much better. As long as the example you are getting has been regularly driven or at least warmed up, and has good maintenance records I would have confidence in it. Definitely do a pre purchase inspection as well. Check for oil leaks from the engine front/rear main, and for coolant leaks as well. Check clutch life remaining too. Some of the hydraulic lines for e gear begin to degrade now too since they are over 15 yrs old in some cases - you can see them leaking or they are often wet/damp with fluid from slow leaks. Dude, thanks for this info..watched it a dozen times.... I have a question you may be able to answer..... those rpm number... 61mph in first gear is wild, can a tune be done to reflect the gear shifts of 06-08 ? I found a gorgeous 05 but sure would love to get out of gear at 47mph.
    Also, my brother, thanks to this video, I looked up its location to find it's from New Hampshire knowing I need to take care of that drive shaft assembly asap.... thanks again

    • @sgfreak96
      @sgfreak96  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Really glad you enjoyed the video! Definitely get whatever car you decide to buy a thorough look-over by a mechanic you trust. I can’t stress that enough. As for the gearing, the only way to get the 06-08 gear ratios would be to actually swap in the physical gearset from one of those cars into an 04-05 car. A tune can make the actual shifts be quicker/smoother, but it won’t change the 61mph 1st gear redline, because the physical gears in the transmission are what determine the speeds that the car reaches in each gear. One other unconventional and possibly easy method would be to change the final drive ratio in the differential, effectively lowering the top speed of every single gear across the board; your only issue there is 5th and 6th gear would possibly be lowered significantly to speeds that are not fast at all. Sorry, thats a lot of blabbering but I hope this helps.
      One final thing to check for - cylinder scoring. Have your mechanic use a borescope to look into the cylinders and check the cylinder walls out. If there’s any scoring, I would walk away. A youtuber named “effspot” bought his 08 superleggera around the time I had my car. It currently needs the whole engine rebuilt because of that.

    How much did you pay, how many miles were on it, and how much did you sell it for ? I’m looking at an ‘05 automatic with 22k miles for $95k. Same owner for 10 years. Clutch at 70%. My plan. Drive it for 4 months (50 miles a week tops), put around 2-3k miles on it, and have it for sale as soon as I get it for around $120k. If I get any buyers it’s gone. If not, barely drive it, have a Lambo for 4 months for free and call it a day. Getting the whole pre purchase inspection done to check compression, clutch safety inspection etc. before I buy it. 100%. And I’m going to request to be there when it’s up on the lift so see for myself. What are your thoughts. Car has service records etc etc. seems like a good buy.

    • @sgfreak96
      @sgfreak96  ปีที่แล้ว

      I would highly recommend getting an 06+ car as they have more HP, and revised gearing. The revised gearing is a massive upgrade, with way better ratios for every day driving, and spirited driving. I sold mine for far less than $95k; absolutely nobody wanted it. The second I sold mine, all of the sudden the market exploded on these for some reason. I see lots of cars listed for 110-120k though, and they don't move. I think a safe car to flip would be getting an 06-08 Gallardo with 20-30k miles, get it for 90-100, list that for 120k, and that could sell. The market is cooling down though, I'd buy the car because you want it, not to try and flip it. I absolutely advise on a PPI too. Clutch at 70% isn't too bad, I believe sub 60 is where things start to get a little sketchy, and sub 50 is when you may get small issues like "car stuck in neutral" or slipping more. Watch my e-gear/r-tronic driving tips video and you shouldn't do any wear at all. I had a new clutch in mine with 100% life, and when I sold it, it was still at 100% life. Hope this helps, I know it's a big blurb/ramble lol.

    Gallardos are hit and miss since so many have been abused, rented, and bought by people who can’t afford the repairs so they cut corners with cheap parts, don’t spend the money to service the car regularly, and then they sell them to others who trust the mileage or looks of the car and don’t get an in depth PPI. Then they get disenchanted with the experience. My ‘05 kicked me in the head for $6k repair the first 2 months and I almost gave up and sold it. But my mechanic kept telling me that once the car is sorted out it’s a reliable car and it’s been a year and he was right. I did get all the books and records for my car and met the prior 2 owners too which made me feel good it wasn’t a rental or abused. You can get these for $70k-$110k for the same exact car and I’m convinced there’s a good reason. The cheaper they are the more likely your bank account is going to get drained. Pay a little more or a lot more for a car with all books and records and a clear PPI that’s been driven rather that sitting around rotting and make sure it wasn’t a prior rental or track rental!

I just put $12k in a separate bank account just for this cars repairs and maintenance and once that money is exhausted then I’m out. Hey, Indonesian subscriber here, in my country used LP Gallardo (2009-2013) is priced around US$200k to US300k depending on mods and condition.
    And because of "luxury car tax" even NEW fully optioned BASE 2022 992 Carrera is priced around US$700k.
    So because of that condition, is used Gallardo better buy than the Porsche? Even though Gallardo will be much more expensive to maintain.
    Not to forget yearly road tax for this thing is really high, around US$8,000 per year.

      It depends what kind of driving experience you want. A 992 Carrera will probably be a better car to drive, more reliable, and much more comfortable. The Gallardo will be a rough driving experience but a fun one, it looks amazing, and it sounds even better. The Gallardo will definitely cost more to maintain. That said, find a Gallardo that was driven regularly by the previous owner. Don’t find one with low miles or one that has been sitting dormant. One that is driven regularly is one that is going to be a healthy/good car!

      FYI NEW 2022 Aventador SVJ is now priced around US$2 Million here, yes basically buying Lambo for Bugatti money.

    Nice video. I think you hit the nail on the head on a number of times many of which are why some of us love these cars. I’d say the PreLP cars are “visceral”. Even with my 2006 manual gated the gear changes and feeling is harsh. My wife hates it. A lot of people think the Gallardo is a show off cruise to dinner car. But in fact it’s quite raw and engaging to drive. More suited to spirited drives. I had a Porsche Cayman GT4 prior so suspension wasn’t an issue for me. But the Lambo is much more engaging feeling to me. I’ve had it for just about a month and on a few drives. No issues yet. But I am sure there will be money to spend.
    If you can’t afford a few K for service here and there and sock away several k a year for future items like clutch it’s probably not a great car to own. If you are even thinking about gas costs. Same. Porsche makes greet cars tho. Very reliable. Tossable and precise. The G gives that Italian experience and all it entails. It sits right in-between the older 80s/90s classics and more modern digital dual clutch cars which for me was the right blend of livable and hopefully somewhat reliable mixed with visceral driving engagement. Plus gated manual 👍.
    No question LP cars are more reliable. The 2006-2008 cars have the updated gear ratios and steering rack as well. But nothing sounds like a v10 pre LP car. 🇮🇹🇮🇹🇮🇹

    • @sgfreak96
      @sgfreak96  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I agree with everything you said here! The G is a visceral and truly raw experience. It absolutely blew my mind how different it was from the Audi R8 I had before it. They are often cross shopped, and could not be more different. Its really blew my mind. Lamborghini’s, at least the G and Murci, are 1000% drivers cars. They are assumed to be show off/flex type cars but they are terrible for casual driving and going to dinner. They are best driven at 10/10ths! Enjoy your gated car, I wish they weren’t so expensive and I’d totally consider getting an 06-08 gated car just to see what its like. Your input here will help other viewers making the decision to purchase a G of their own 👍🏻

      I thought I mentioned in the video, but apologies if I didn’t. I spent about $5000 repairing the car I believe, rough estimate. The one major repair, the oil pump fix and engine rear main seal, was done at an unbelievably reduced cost courtesy of a good friend who hooked me up. That job alone would likely have been $4000-$6000 at a normal third party shop. Potentially raising my total maintenance cost closer to $10,000.

    Well, if i was going to buy one, I wouldn't be asking you as you never did your homework. Did you even put it up on the lift before purchase? My God, what a mess underneath. And there seemed to be no understanding whatsoever what this car was. On top of that, trying to do it on the cheap for replacement parts pretty much guarantees you WILL PAY TWICE. Also e-gear enthusiasts know that the car is NOT violent as you stated. It's just that you don't know how to shift. I see this all the time on videos of everyone's head jerking back. You haven't pushed it hard enough through the corners to experience understeer. Watch the Chris Harris video. Hence the reason for the 2WD version and a later e-gear iteration that allows tighter shifts superior to what you bought. .

    The problem with these cars is performance. You can buy a gen 6 Camaro and humiliate a Gallardo on track. Thats inexcusable for its used pricepoint in the modern age. The aero is FAKE and creates turbulence and lift on the rear wheels unless some aftermarket diffuser is installed. Thats inexcusable. The suspension has to be changed because this car has dangerous wheel hop mid corner. What your left with is a GAWKER car that brings attention. The suspension comes like that brand new from the factory. No way this car is worth more than than a new Corvette C8. Lamborghini has only made competent sports cars in the last 5 years, but anything before that is hilarious.

    • @sgfreak96
      @sgfreak96  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      In fairness, comparing a Gallardo to a gen 6 camaro is comparing a 2004 car to a 2016 car. That’s not really fair. A 2016 Huracan would demolish any 2016 camaro in any type of driving event, except for the ZL1 maybe in track events. The Gallardo I’d take every day over any Camaro, any time any place. It’s a much more fun and unique driving experience in my opinion. I also have never heard of Gallardos having fake aero that creates lift on rear wheels - what source discovered that?
