I once had a nasty break up after around 8 years of being together and I sat in a parking lot stoned listening to floods nice and angry. Then the outdo hit me and I cried like a fucking baby right there in my car. Helped me get over it. Dimebag was very special to many people.
I feel like it's just a super underrated Pantera album in general. People go ape shit over Vulgar and Far Beyond Driven, but Cowboys and Trendkill are my personal favorites.
Rachin Srisakulchawla He's said in an interview it was his favorite, and he even had a tattoo dedicated to the song. Cowboys From Hell would be bad ass too.
I started to cry listening to the outro because me and my dad would listen to this but he sadly passed and me and him shared a love for the art of dimebag and the love of playing guitar.
This is the closest cover to the original I've ever had the pleasure of watching and listening to. You've captured everything from the sound, to the feeling and emotions that Dimebag put into the composition. He was definitely smiling up there when you recorded this. I can tell just by the way you're playing this just how much of an impact he made on you both musically and spiritually. Keep on keeping on, my metal brother!
Could one argue that this was Dime's greatest solo? I certainly think so. Lovely playing Ola, reminds me of the famous live performance...u'know the one where Phil shouts "everyone smoke heroin" at the start of the solo
I don't know if it was his best, but it's definitely my favorite. The emotion that Dime conveyed through every note was amazing, and this cover by Ola gets me in the same way. Bravo!
Almost blew a pair of speakers playing this on repeat as a teen. Nearly 30 years later an instantly in the same scenario and loving it just as much!!! Timeless
My home town just got hit by the worst flooding we have ever seen in the mountains of western North Carolina. Entire towns are just gone and homes were taken away with families still inside without a chance. This is the worst thing I have ever seen and this solo really hits hard please pray for everyone here in WNC Edit: Thank you so much for noticing Ola❤️ Can't wait to get a chug project vinyl after this is all over! We are on day 5 of no power or running water but we are getting all the help we need here! Pray for the small towns that they can't even reach yet!
@raegandalbo9731 thank you for the support brother, it is still pretty rough out here. People really need help still so all we can is try to spread the word and take care of each other.
@@painguitars1635 Hey! No need to say "Im not that good." Everything comes with practice. I know you hear that alot but its true! The first Pantera solo I learned was the one in "Walk" it was a PAIN but now i got it up to speed. And even though ive only played 3 years I would say that im a pretty decent player. Good luck mate!
@@painguitars1635 the first part is not hard (the part before all that pentatonic stuff). Learn how to do pinch harmonics (tips: bridge pickup, lots of gain)
Dime died on my 16th birthday, I started playing guitar just a couple years before. At the time of his death, he was one of my most prominent influences. He will be sorely missed. Masterpieces like this however, will carry on and echo into the ages. I listen to music like this and it reminds me of how incredibly fortunate I am to be on this earth in a time with it.
I started to listen to pantera (metal at all) in 2022 and pantera became my favourite band of all time. I've got really sad when I found that Dime was killed. Floods, The sleep and avoid the light are my favourite solos of him, because of how strong and emotional are they. Most important what he had remain - music. Well, 2024 and now I learning guitar too 👊
The outro is one of those few sounds that will always be a nostalgic sound simultaneously from past present and future, like a moment In time that combines all moments into one that has yet to be experienced and draws you in from the infinite and just when you are about to grasp the wisdom of it, it lingers just past your fingertips and pulls you deeper into the void.
Everytime I hear this song it makes me so sad. Dimebag was such an awesome person and the ending to this song is the perfect tribute to his legacy! RIP DIME🥺
my drunk teenager ass on bus fell asleep to this after a night at the bar with friends, walking home about 5kms at night, surely a special place for this
i don’t know how to explain how special this piece is, i don’t know what it is but it’s a weird unexplainable feeling when you hear this…it’s almost like it’s nostalgic from when i was a child, it reminds me of having to go back and forth to my moms and dads house when i was younger and looking back not knowing or having any care in the world because i was young. now that i’m a teeenager i listen to this and get emotional knowing that i’m not a kid anymore and that life moves by fast. i know for a fact that this song was a gift to me and others from Dimebag and he meant the emotions we was portraying. RIP DIME
Everyone agrees the solo & Outro are beautiful & Iconic, But ngl the part that always moved me the most is the clean melody right before the solo begins. I could honestly listen to that melody looped for hours, It just evokes such a deep, Melancholic feeling in me, Makes me super nostalgic in a very comforting yet sad way. Floods will forever be one of my favorite Pantera songs.
The solo is awesome in this song, maybe the best he ever did, but the outro always moved me for some strange reason. I'll always love this song, and if anyone ever asks me what song sums up dimes abilities the best the answer will always say floods. Thanks Ola for always helping keep his spirit alive through your videos.
I mean Jesus Christ. It’s just slick is what it is. I mean literally what other guitar player do you hear that type of thing from. To stand alone .. it’s what creates legends. It’s one thing to play it, it’s another to write it. So fuckin slick.
I know its 4 years old. But this vid just FLOODS me with memories of Dime. And brings a tear to my eye when I think of all the beauty this world lost that night in Ohio.
In my opinion, this is the most beautiful guitar solo I've ever heard, played by Dimebag Darrell. Congratulations, for solar with perfection, this beautiful soil.
When I'm sad and the world seems gray, I take a guitar and play Floods outro. And my soul is filled with harmony. This is a very sad melody, but it shows that even sadness can be beautiful.
If there ever would have been a pantera reunion tour, Zakk is good but when Ola plays dimes stuff, you can feel it through the camera. You can feel the appreciation, the love & respect.. awesome stuff bro

its the first thing i noticed and Im a guitar player...
It does sound incredibly nice... Definitely my nr. 2 favorite bass sound. I'm more of a djent guy myself, so I love the metalic sound a bit more.
It sounds a lot like Rex Brown's original bass track, but Ola says this is his own backing track.
I own a darkglass Microtube 900.. Get this sound
Kaspar Marius Jota For bass...?
Damn, I don't think this solo will ever stop giving me chills. Dedicated to all the "Clapton did it better, metal has no feeling." crowd.
I agree
Not easy to double the solo and play it so tightly! That was impeccable, Ola!

In my humble opinion, this is Dimebag's crowning achievement. Such a great perfect solo, imho of course.

Pick up that guitar and learn it, just move that same shape up and down, you can do it
