Thank you Danny C!! This video just saved the day for my son’s fishing tournament. It’s Midnight here in Chicago and we just got back from testing the boat that had stuck floats.

Where do you order good parts. Amazon floats and gaskets are junk I feel.
What will happen if someone doesn't get the carbs put back in order. Merc 175 3 carbs. Someone has the carb number 2 as the bottom carb. I thought 2 should be the middle. Would it matter

I noticed you dont have the fuel bowl vent jets in. Did you take them out for a reason ?

NO, these carbs have been took apart before somebody else left them out but it is running great , i take it out everyday, thank you for seeing that, sounds like you know your carburators, do you have extra parts for 150HPXR2 blackmax?

Actually i dont know much about them at all. I just picked up a bass boat that has the 150 on it and it runs like shit. So ive been searching videos trying to get some ideas on what to do. Your video is the the only that i see on here about these carbs , and it gave me the info i needed to feel comfortable taking them apart , so thank you for that. I found blown gaskets in 2 of the carbs so far . Id have never even known what the vent jets where , but a friend of mine brought me over a book on the motor and i noticed im missing 2 out of the 6 jets . a guy at a local boat shop told me some guys take them out on purpose , thats why i was asking if you did. My boat wont get up to full speed , it boggs out like its starving for fuel. Keeping my fingers crossed that the carb rebuild fixes the problem. I ordered 2 new vent just ,but hell i might just take the rest out seeing as how you say yours runs great without them. Its worth a shot .

i have worked on cars all my life, but boat engines seem fairly easy, you say yours runs bad is it hitting on all the cylinders? a lot of times the power packs will fail and the engine might only be running on few cylinders, how i check that is to start the motor up with water supply and pull 1 spark plug wire at a time to see if it is hitting on that cylinder, if it is hitting you will notice a change in engine RPM. the power packs are real common problems.

if the gaskets are bad at the carburator base plate, yes that cause a vacuum leak. i would check that it is running on all cylinders at all times.

Yes i checked when i was doing the compression test . but i will double check again .

Is the needle supposed to be suspended or close it tight?
