I'm sitting way over in Africa and my heart was thumping. Right now on the eve of my 60th year I am hunting with a slingshot , cast my own lead ammo and I am having fun. Can't wait for my son to return from Wisconsin with an old Bear Super Grizzly I was gifted by an old hunting client from Texas. After many years of guiding I need to put in time hunting for my own pleasure. If I can master the bow skills , I aim to treat myself to some fun. Thanks Clay. Awesome video.

Thanks for sharing this, had me on the edge of my seat. Bow hunting is so fun, I got my first archery animal this year in north west Alberta , nice mature bull elk.

Awesome video Clay. And Chevie enjoined it a lot. That river crossing with no boots or pants man that is something else. 38F is about 3C. Water that cold and you did it twice. Couple of time in the army when I had to bathe with cold water you feel like your testicles get into your stomach. Kudos to you really.

My heart was in my mouth. Most people would have made a bad shot on both those bulls. Chevie’s restraint is commendable - he may be new to long bows but he is a hell of a hunter. I’m glad bow hunting reminded him of the joy of pursuit. I loved every minute of this!

Clay, I don't know you. You don't know me, but I can't tell you how much these videos have gotten me fired up again for hunting. I grew up on a farm in the woods. What the hell happened to me??? Well said brother. Just discovered this channel. It is refreshing to see his attitude. Kind of
Going at this backwards. The first one I watched was when he was in Idaho and took the small buck home. Great hunt and took some grade A organic meat home. the one I just watched was the one after this where he was by himself. I loved it when he was floating along and just took it all in. Close your eyes and just breathe.

Also, it gave me the impression that the moose could see you up on the platform and definitely knew the sound was coming from up there. That could have e been the issue too. But man, that was exciting!!! Thank you.

It's unfortunate that Oscar's aren't awarded for "REAL" hunting video's, because this would win on all levels. I've bowhunted for 42 years and didn't realized my love for the sport until Chevie's "kid with a slingshot" comparison. It took me back 60 years instantly. Let's see, catch a big pike-check, work on a hand made long bow-check, get the camera ready-check, pencil in the cap-check, call in a huge bull moose-check, get within 15 yards a "a huge animal with alot of pointy things on it's head" (my favorite description of a moose) check. Just a normal day in Alaska. This is the absoulute best hunting video I've ever watched and the only one I've saved and subscrived to. I'am a kid again! Thanks.

Jealousy always brings out the toxic miserable humans. They have to project their own self hatred onto others instead of owning their issues and working on them. Be honest with yourself people cus most of the time, you’re the problem in your own life. Taking accountability is what cool people do.

I was trying to determine my exact draw length by marking my arrow with 1” increments and coming to full draw and having my girlfriend record it on her phone to see exactly what length I was drawing….I thought I was around 27” but I was only around 25.5”!!! I thought theirs no way that’s true so I did some investigating and here’s what I found….when I first strung the bow it was brand new, never been shot. I measured the brace height and it was exactly 7.5” which is perfect. Well after shooting 10-15 arrows I measured it again and it was 6 and 7/8ths I couldn’t believe the string stretched that much during the breaking in process. That being said, was my draw length drastically reduced because my brace height was no where close to the recommended 7.5”?? Thank you so much man! I seriously appreciate you helping me!!

You need to add brush buttons to your string so your bow doesn’t get hung up on the brush

@@clayhayeshunter I was shooting my Satori up until a couple of months ago, got a brand spanking new left shoulder two Mondays ago. Probably won’t be able to fling pointy sticks until after the first of the year. Got all four corners done now, two new knees, two new shoulders, hell, I’m off to the races. Might have to go chase some elk down here in AZ. Getting the new knees was the best thing I ever did. After 20 years I can actually go up, go down, and squat and not a pain to be had. Hope my left shoulder turns out as well as my right shoulder did, I’m excited about getting back out there again, I saw this elk once…
