For years i've thought about doing a log fire in the winter and now it has finally been done. Only downside with this fire is that you have to maintain it during the night by moving the logs forward as the ends of the logs burn out. What is the coldest temperature you have experianced?
It's been -40 Fahrenheit or colder here in North Central Minnesota during the winter's. But you are much farther, North than I am. The sun 🌞 rises about 8 AM and sets about 5 PM today. We have an outdoor wood 🪵 burning 🔥 hot water stove. Sometimes, it's fun to maintain a consistent temperature 🌡in the house.
Joel Erik, that massive log 🪵 you used for the fire 🔥. Reminds me of the old Yule Log used to celebrate Jul and the Winter ❄️ Solstice and the return of the light. The warmth and comfort, plus the light it brought on this cold night🌙 made it enjoyable if not bearable for you, buddy. Tack for taking use along, bro!!!

"At around 9:09/27:27, I thought, 'Wow, this guy really understands how to build a fire and has clearly done his research!' It's a great solution to prevent freezing in non-storm conditions-daytime, no winter warnings, or extreme weather like freezing rain mixed with snow. Perfect if rescue is guaranteed within 24 hours or less. That said, global weather statistics show that rescue times can extend to 5 days in harsh winter storms or even moderate snow with deadly freezing rain that ices everything. This makes the setup a solid temporary survival solution for specific scenarios. Great 'Temporary Survival' video! Much respect to those who practice the art of survivalism-your knowledge could serve humanity well, even during space travel."
🥶Brrrrrrr... I am from Florida and its one of the coldest nights at 40 degrees and I haven't been able to move out of my electric blanket all day 🥶😂Bless you darlin🤗

Thanks for sharing. I camped for 7 nights and 8 days high in the high Sierra Nevada Mountains. I don’t know what the temperature was I didn’t have a thermometer. When I came down from the mountain the temperature there was low 20’s F during the day and around zero at night. This is about 4000 feet lower than I was. I did have a tarp and good goose down quilts and sleeping bags.
What if you tried a log fire but with a tarp behind you instead to trap the heat? Maybe put a log on the end of the tarp to make it air tight, and some on the sides
Great video man!! One thing - if you saw a few lines a small way into the wood and then carve them away with a hatchet, they fall away really quickly, so you can make your notches faster and more accurately. I’m sure you know this already. Anyway, thanks for the great video!!

Good video you. Can i pass on a trial. Next time get your bed off the ground 12 inches or higher. People get cold because the heat only hits the front. Get higher up so the heat can wrap around you! Your reflection wall should have a gap between it and your bed. Hand width. Really cold night grab 6 fist size rocks 3 wool socks. Always keep 3 in the coals and 3 in the socks. Feet, knees, small of the back life changer! Stay safe, and good luck. Warning. If you make fires this big with this setup. Put a stick in your mouth and out you're arse. Because you just turned into a rotisserie. Its hot. Stay safe 😅
