Love bobby and Coco's videos. Hurt for them. Bobby is the most loving and respectful people on tube. Never says a bad word about anyone. He tells a story of someone who killed his dog and he does not mention their name. And bobby sings, plays, wrights, and tells the greatest stories like no one else. Peace and love

There are rumors that Clapton and Bobby had? A pretty riff between them. Rumor is Clapton bought all the rights from Bobby from the Layla album. I’m pretty sure Clapton had his hand in it in the background. Clapton became a superstar. George already was. Bobby, he is just a musician in there eyes. I’ve watched some of Bobby’s accounts from the Derrick and the Dominoes and all things must pass sessions. In both his TH-cam channel and from previous interviews. The stories are different. So they may have felt Bobby is unreliable. I saw one interview where Bobby states that the group was invited to go see the Almond brothers . After the show Eric asked them to come back and Jam. Bobby states in another interview they were done with recording that day and decided to see the Almond brothers. Then Duane became a hired musician.

I was going to get the 5 CD set after seeing Bobby's enthusiasm for the music but when his videos were pulled, I pulled my support for All Things Must Pass. I am not into corporate censorship, especially of a man (Bobby Whitlock) who is deeply humble, truthful, and happy to share his honesty. The Harrison Estate has done a terrible thing to him no matter the motive. It seems like they just want to make money without a care for how it's done. Really truly, I will say shame on them. I watched both Bobby and Cocos videos on this and did find it strange that they had spoken to the Harrison estate and then on the later video, one of them had been taken down. I don't know who is supposed to have a say over credits but if it's down to Danni and Olivia then they should be grown up about it and rectify it. If it's down to the label, which is likely, then it has to change and the Bobby and anyone else who hasn't been properly credited needs to be. I won't be surprised if the latter is true and it doesn't get sorted. Another case of musicians getting short-changed as usual.

I listened to All Things Must Pass on Spotify and a small blue tooth speaker and it sounded fine . But I haven’t heard it through a good stereo system on cd or vinyl and apparently that is where the problem lies. It seems from what I’m hearing the remastering of the album wasn’t very well done. The way Phil Spector recorded the album with all that heavy reverb I wouldn’t think it would be possible to totally strip away Spector’s production without stripping away some of the instrumentation. I would like to hear the vinyl version to compare it to the original version but I don’t think I want to spend the big bucks. I don’t appreciate the way Bobby Whitlock is being treated , by pulling down his videos describing the way the album developed , who played on different songs and his opinion of it fans are losing a piece of rock history. Remember some years back, George was criticized (as were Olivia and Dhani) for not helping George's sister, Louise, when she was in financial straits? In reality, George DID help Louise, but tax laws in the U.S. set a limit on the amount a person can give to a family member (than a spouse or children), before it's considered a gift and subject to taxation. Giving a larger amount of money to Louise would have resulted in a tax on her, which George wouldn't be allowed to pay on her behalf.

Sadly, we’re slowly losing the direct links to some of the most important times in rock and pop - the 60s and early 70s. The only thing I could surmise, as the reason for the "estate" having them taken down, was that Bobby's factual recollection differed from what they had already finalized, packaged, and released for sale to those with too much money to blow on such things. They screwed up on the facts and it's easier these days to silence the truth rather than admit error and remedy their mistakes. Bobby and CoCo are good folks above this sort of crap. They missed the boat, not having Bobby contribute to the printed material. I suspect that Dhani and Olivia never met Bobby and of course they weren't around at the time of the sessions, so my guess is they just don't know the key role of Bobby in the core band on the album. George isn't here to say, 'Hey, let's get Bobby involved, he remembers how it went down.' So, yes, it's a shame and isn't it a pity. I preordered the $25 CD version. There's a rather strange distrustful stance that seems to come out of the Harrison Estate. They seem to have this attitude that people are out to exploit them at every turn. This doesn't seem to exist with Paul's camp which only accentuates the Harrison's stance. You only have to listen to Mark Lewisohn's interviews to gain a sense of that. It's all rather weird. Bobby whitlock has nothing but admiration and enthusiasm for George and you get a a sense that it has hurt/disappointed him at being shut out.

@@michaelmccormick6401 @Finn Shoaps Here are the details regarding the falling out between Lewisohn and Harrison. Mark Lewisohn as most Beatles fans are aware of gained access to the EMI tape library for his book "The Complete Beatles Recording Sessions" in 1988. Several years later there was an author by the name of Mark Hertsgaard who was mates with Lewisohn and asked his friend for assistance in accessing the EMI tape library for a book he was writing on The Beatles entitled "A Day In The Life". Lewisohn agreed to do this and believed he had gone through all of the proper channels in helping his friend gain access to the tape library and it was through this access that Hertsgaard was able to write his fantastic book which was published in 1995. However somewhere along the line, misinformation was relayed back to respective camps of George Harrison and Yoko Ono who were informed that Lewisohn was granting unauthorized access unilaterally to The Beatles' tape archive. Upon learning this both Harrison and Ono were very angry and it resulted in some unfortunate repercussions for Lewisohn. To begin with Lewisohn was originally slated to be the curator of the "Lennon: Anthology" project and had already devised a track listing for it. Ono immediately replaced him with Rob Stevens who went on to work with Ono on that project. Harrison also had Lewisohn's role reduced in terms of The Beatles Anthology and while McCartney prevented Lewisohn from being fired, his involvement in the project was significantly reduced. Remember all of this happened in spite of the fact that Lewisohn had gone through the proper channels and obtained permission from EMI to grant his mate access to their tape library.

Record companies seem to lack the basic understanding that review/reaction videos are literally free promotion and advertising for their products. Any coverage of the music results in increased exposure to both old and new audiences, giving the music commercial and cultural longevity. I think I suspect this is more of a label/rights issue than actual interference from Olivia or Dhani--record companies are notorious for their non-negotiability/inflexible thinking and I feel like I've heard several artists discuss their personal views that they love the ongoing covers/adaptations/reactions but even when they verbally approve things, the companies get the final say and they categorically defer to 'cease and desist' tactics.

They've got to make this right. Money should be no object. This is history. Even if delays the release. Make it up to the fans for a change. Great review John!

It's all about LIABILITY! Bobby Whitlock is in a similar situation as say Mick Taylor & the STONES. Whitlock & Taylor are obvious heavy contributors to some obviously great works that are now "property" of "Rock n' Roll Corporations. They both were compensated very little for their work. Any actions of these Corps giving these workhorses any creedence of importance or authority would activate the power of so many LAWYERS adept at this sort of "lawsuit thing". A sad & familiar consequence and fallout of a meteoric era in the art of R n' Roll!

I think it was wrong to ask Bobby to take down his posts and I would guess it was lawyers requesting such. Bobby was doing nothing but commenting honestly to enlighten the session participation since he was one of the main musicians who was there and contributed and witnessed the recording of ATMP. I would say the Harrison Estate probably could remedy this by issuing an addendum or booklet of session comments that could be gathered rather quickly. It may not make the pressing and release that is to occur in August 2021 but it would definitely head off this backlash. The Estate's actions were entirely unnecessary and unwarranted. Leave Bobby alone. Better yet...get his input as well as all other living musicians' comments for all who participated. I loved Bobby's stories and his and others commentary would really add to this momentous release. John Heaton is dead on.

Bobby and Coco weren’t asked to take down their videos, they were “told” to take them down. Big difference.

What did Whitlock say that was so wrong for the Harrison estate??

@@robertgosselin14 Bobby and Coco say they did not delete the posts, and they will be re posted sometime after the new ATMP 50th album has been released.
Apparently their video comments were merely "bad timing" or some such(?) as they were made to understand the reason to take them down.

Great video John - totally agree with the sentiments you express. ATMP is arguably George’s definitive statement and absolutely worthy of being treated to the same format as the recent Plastic Ono Band and Imagine boxes for example. While not cheap, those two feel like labours of love, offer fascinating new listening experiences and insights and are simply fantastic to get lost in - in my view great value. The ATMP 50th Anniversary by contrast is shaping up to feel like one big missed opportunity with more than a whiff of ‘what can we get away with’ rip-off…

In a studio hub in Shoreditch, London, I am the caretaker, gardener. In one of the studios is the graphic design company that has done all the McCartney re issues. They have achieved some serious awards for their work as well. Over the years I think it has been a major part of their work which shows the amount of effort if takes to get these re issues right. I wholeheartedly agree that re badged versions should not be ripping people of, but there is quite a bit of income
dished out to people along the line. As the studios in the hub pay service charges, this is how I get my living. So in some small way I get revenue from Paul McCartney(my hero) how good is that!

Interesting Patrick thanks! Here’s coping we get London Town & Back To The Egg archive soon! Funnily enough I am over from Hungary and have just been in Shoreditch record shopping today (Rough Trade, Flashback) - I like the atmosphere around Brick Lane…big contrast from the City!

It’s not the estate. It’s the people at the label.
Selling Beatles recordings and the solo albums the the bread and butter of EMI’s catalogue sales.
No one in the business contacts the players like that.
They didn’t release anniversary editions to be sentimental, they do it to make money.

I’ve been reading and hearing on Sirius XM Dahnin Harrison is doing the 50th anniversary remix. As you mentioned that Bobby was a key musician on the All Things Must Pass album why wasn’t he invited to the Concert for George? Most of the other musicians were there! Bobby played for the Jools Holland show. He did 2 numbers with Clapton. In the interviews Bobby seemed excited to be playing with Clapton. You look at Clapton his face has the look of I’m only doing this as a favor to Jools. Bobby has a great memory. Ask Clapton about that time period his memories are all over the place.

Just watched Bobby's video and was thinking of doing a follow-up on my channel, when I noticed your entry here. Its a travesty that Bobby wasn't included on the ground floor of this ATMP re-issue and now the thing already has a tarnish on it in my view. I think you've nailed it with your rationale for why Bobby's videos have been taken down. In my opinion, they should delay the issue of this anniversary set long enough to get the facts right, rather than knowingly issue something they know isn't right.
