Great segment guys! If you ever revisit the Scanner in the Shack topic or decide to go deeper on the subject, I'd love to be a part of that conversation, if you don't mind bringing on a guest. 73 Phil / w2lie

Great conversation guys! The SDS100 in the SHTF bag; pricy, but the best there is.

They are sweet but holy heck at the price of scanners these days 😳

It's definitely not for everyone but I have a scanner in my shack mainly for emergency stuff. It's been extremely handy during severe weather events but also other activities that may eventually require amateur radio for assistance. I've also used it for some radio testing within the shack. Obviously this is limited to the frequency range of the scanner so that rules out most of HF below 10m but it works great for testing VHF/UHF. Overall it's a handy tool to keep around even if you don't listen to it regularly. 73, KS5KY

I recently nabbed a clean pre-owned Uniden BCD996P2 that had the DMR, NexEdge and ProVoice upgrades. Love it. Super easy to program with Freescan software and cut & paste from Radio Reference.

Good score! That's what I have at the QTH. I use Proscan, I don't think I knew about freescan at the time (or it wasn't around). I have the SDS-100 for mobile usage.

Dang scanners are too "spensive' 😄
One day I'll probably get one, the SDS100's sound great but I need to start to sell my "scription" meds!💊😄
