  • Asia is a gargantuan, diverse continent full of interesting little surprises all over the place, so given the popularity of my video on Europe's weird geography, I decided I'd follow it up with some of Asia's most fascinating geographical phenomena.

From all videos about Indonesian geographics, this is only the video where Jakarta is said to have cities.
Actually Jakarta (or the Special Capital Region of Jakarta Province) is comprised of 5 administrative cities (East Jakarta, West Jakarta, Central Jakarta, South Jakarta, North Jakarta) and 1 administrative regency (similar to county) (Kepulauan Seribu or Thousand Islands Regency). Thousand Islands is actually kinda like Tokyo's Ogasawara islands, but the different is Thousand Islands is not 1100 km away, It's close on Jakarta bay.
I said administrative cities and regency, where It's cities and regency has a decent government like the rest of Indonesian cities and regencies, but have a difference where there's no election for mayor (and regent for regency). The mayor and regent for these administrative cities and regency are appointed directly by the governor.
FYI, the cities of Bekasi and Depok in West Java province is actually a part of the Jakarta Metropolitan area (Jabodetabek) as these cities are literally the neighbors of East Jakarta and South Jakarta respectively. The police in these cities are also administered by the Jakarta Metropolitan Provincial Police, rather than the East Java Provincial Police. So these 2 cities are the only cities in East Java that has a Metropolitan police. Bandung is the capital of East Java, but Bekasi is the largest city in East Java due to It's position beside the capital.
